Pavel Bure the Russian Rocket is awesome. I have tryed to recreate this shot so many times when playing and I have never been able to. The Russian Rocket is so awesome.
Watched a playoff game in early 90's when the other team had their goalie pulled. A Vancouver player iced the puck down the rink from their zone and I knew we won the game because Bure was on the ice. He got the puck from behind their net and put it in without being touched.

Too bad it was a pre-season goal but it's still one of the sweetest breakaways ever. Damn if Pavel only got to play in in the 'current' NHL! He would easily score 100+ goals but I still prefer the 'dead puck' era aynways.
Pat Kane is good but mediocre at best against the Russian Rocket. Many hockey outlets try to call a speedy goalscoring type the "next Bure" but I'm still waiting to see something like that happen.
You obviously don't know that I meant in today's era where he would've excelled even more if he had been playing in his prime within this generation instead of the 90's.
I don't even get why you're even trying to make some arguement when it's an opinion.
@vi3thunny when he had back to back 60 goal season scoring was higher then it is today. In "todays NHL" its much harder to score 60 (only done once in 15 years)
When I was young Pavel was my favorite player. Much to the chagrine of my redneck hockey friends who all liked Gretzky or the other classic Canadian players. For some reason I assumed there would always be another Bure but so far I haven't seen him yet. Closest player today would have to be Pat Kane but he only has the hand speed and nowhere near the power and foot speed. No disrespect to Ovie either.
His acceleration was unbelievable. Guy literally was a rocket!! Not to mention the softest hand in his day. This guy puts ovechkin to shame. Bure played in a much harder NHL, where n e on could do n e thing. Smaller ice, cheaper hits, and Slower teammates. Truly unreal
Totally agree with the comments below, the speed at which he took off there was unreal. I grew up idolizing this guys skills. Together he and Linden were my idols. His skill and Linden's character = AWESOME
Look at the speed of Bure!!!!! they a look again when he goes from 0 to 100 ....with all respect to Ovechkin - nobody has been that explosive in the NHL than Pavel - to sad he had a short career. Hal of fame is waiting Pavel and we NEVER will forget you
So damn fast!!! Too bad this was an exibition game baut amazing goal regardless.
