@WeThePeopleVStheNWO This guy clearly supports corporations over the people. Look at the video above. Your catch phrases don't work when presented with Paul pointing out in his own words that he supports corporate bribery of politicians.
Members should be required to disclose major transactions in the same time as it is for everybody else. Business people have a two day limit but most corporates file in one day, if congress needs to continue a double standard, five days to file should be enough. Thirty days gives them to much time to cover it up.
@imadizzy1No, what I mean it's ironic Ron Paul has almost no media coverage and the media coverage that he DOES get is almost always negative. Yet, he's trailing in close second. I hope he gets elected. He seems to make the most sense.
Ron Paul is against the Protect IP Act as written. If it passes, then it will be more difficult for diabetics to import the natural pork & beef insulin that they need for survival and quality of life. Even Eli Lilly stated that rDNA synthetic human insulin wouldn't work for some diabetics and rDNA human insulin is the only insulin available in America. Why isn't natural pork & beef insulin protected by the "Orphan Drug Act"? Pork & Beef insulin should be available to American diabetics.
Where is the Justice Department on something like this? There are plenty of laws that deal with conflict of interest in office, lying under oath, improper inducements, etc., etc., etc.
The FBI should handle it. If we had an aggressive DOJ they would be all over this. Where there is a will there is a way. The FBI has virtually unlimited power domestically to pursue illegality wherever it occurs. A federal judge can review evidence and convene a Grand Jury to subpoena members of Congress.
@davitodude and @jaylaher. I think it is clear that Paul stated they should go to Pelosi and Boehner to resolve this issue. I think he'd support banning these activities as long as no new laws were written, which is ridiculous imo. Also his belief that if we elect moral people and get rid of regulations they will govern themselves is just nonsense. The real world just doesn't work that way.
Paul made himself clear that anyone taking part in such acts should be held accountable to the fullest extent possible. If that doesn't mean prosecution (as Dr. Paul implies SHOULD be the case), the next best thing is to expose names to the public and basically hold them to what I like to call a court of public opinion (make the public knowledgable on the subject and SPREAD THE WORD). Ron Paul wants the people to be aware of corruption and hold wrongdoers accountable. Now THAT'S real "change."
PAULS RIGHT AS USUAL..........T.V. LIES. SEE THEY LIE THERE ON 60 MINS. AND NOW THE PUBLIC THINKS IT'S NOT PUNISHABLE. THIS MEDIA IS HAND IN HAND WITH CONGRESS. THEY WORK FOR THE SAME BANKERS IN LONDON. THE NY ONES ARE BAG MEN. THEY DO WHAT THEY'RE TOLD BY THE CROWN DISTRICT.
The caller did not describe the situation well enough. The issue is not that congresspeople are exempt from insider trading (they are obviously not), the issue is that information that congresspeople obtain from sessions in congress and committee meetings - which is often private/unreleased information - is not classified as inside information. (This includes forsight on bills/measures to be introduced, etc.) If it was, congresspeople like boehner and pelosi would be jailed.
@hotsofornowhere76 agreed...just take into account the gold stock portfolio of his Alchemy LLC..he's betting on a corporate nanny state/government running things into the ground..what he mean't to say is "rotton to the core (like me)"..Ron and Rand know all about earmarks mentioned in that 60 minutes piece..you can always tell when Ron Paul lies, its that annoying little laugh, like 'I'm duping you too' heehee I'm just a sweet old Doctor..yeah right!!
Ron Paul should be able to answer this question very easily. The fact that he ducked this question means he is a liar. And he wants the system to stay corrupt for his own purposes. We all know what side he is on now and he is an insider just like the rest of them .
Ron Paul clearly does NOT understand this rule (or is being dishonest and given that he is a 15 term congressman, I'll bet he is being dishonest). It's not corporate information that they would trade on, it congressional information. Say a drug was about to be turned down from the FDA and you as a congressman knew about it, you could short that stock. It's governmental insider information, not corp level insider trading. It should still be illegal.
I LOVE Ron Paul, but there definitely are exemptions for Congress. Maybe not for laws such as murder, theft, or insider trading, but Congress is definitely exempt from Social Security and ObamaCare. They have MUCH better versions for themselves. In the case of insider trading, it's probably true that there is no law exempting them from prosecution, but they're NEVER punished for it, so there might as well be an exemption.
It's sad that the suggestion of an ethical Congress is now laughable.
How is this news? I thought it was common knowledge in politics. Bush goes to war makes millions in an oil company he has an investment in. Gore heads a campaign for green energy while making millions from government subsides.
Just to be clear, I like Paul, but he hasn't got my vote yet, this remark is one of the reasons why.
He needs to get educated on this. For him to say they should go to Pelosi and Boehner to resolve this issue is just plain ignorant. He is letting his ideology get in the way of solving a very simple issue.
@rjohnson3452 And by "go to Pelosi and Boehner", he specifically said they should be held accountable and made known to the public just how corrupt they are. The way the laws are written (as he also made very specific), they basically make it harder for higher authorities to go after them for illegal insider trading, as they manage to make it as secret as possible. By the time they get revealed to the public, it's too late! There's nothing that can be done to hold them fully accountable.
So in otherwords, he either said this just so he can have an answer the question or he really doesn't know. Eitherway, it tells me that he doesnt deserve my vote and the same goes for the other side.
@TMaw345 He said he was unsure if a law that worked against inside trading with congressmen illeagle. He is a congressmen so he should know this. Him not knowing this means he obviously hasn't put in as much effort as he could into his job. Because of this he doesn't deserve my vote.
Why is this relevant anyway unless Ron Paul is suspected of being involved? If you want to stop it, call your own congressman.

I like Ron Paul, but clearly he doesn't know what his talking about
1. Trading on insider information under the corporations law does not cover congress,
2. Members of congress do not have a fiduciary duty not to trade on inside information
Congress regulate themselves, and have said that trading on inside information is not illegal or unethical.
