protista does not = phylum -.- phylum is one of the five kingdoms in taxonomy. it goes; -kingdom, - (the five kindoms are protista, animalia, plantea, monera, and fungi.) -phylum -class -order -family -genus -species and just to say cause i know all this stuff, everything is named with their genus and species, our genus is homo, =P and our species is sapien, so we are named homo sapien.
