  • @Floydian75 Yes it is, from the roseland ballroom concert. I got one of those. You can even see "Radiohead" in some parts of the video

  • Yeahhhh I know I wasn not the only one that loved WASTING LIGHTS!!!!!!!

  • Foo Fighters totally deserved #1. Every song on the album is fantastic. (And this is coming from a huge RHCP fanatic)

  • Fuck the world, neighborhoods should have been on the list

  • Personnally i would liked to seen a seattle band called The Head and The Heart which released their debut self titled this year which I listened to countless amounts of time.

  • u r talking more than you announce ... :/

  • is that a king of limbs shirt. probably not, just reminded me of it

  • El Camino is really good, but, is not good enogh as it is Brothers. Well, maybe was impossible to make, for the second time, such kind of wonderfull album.

  • Well, my number ONE, is definitely, definitely, I say is DEFINITELY: Helplesness Blues. That record is a master work, is a classic album. I just don´t get it, how could Foo Fighters album be better, but, love to them. Fleet Foxes is maybe the last great, really great band. The albums of Fleet Foxes are like those classic works from The Beatles, to the Beach Boys and Crosby, Stills, Nash and specially Neil Young. The are just the best school in this music, the finest rock ever.

  • Hi, I´m from Colombia (South America), the country, not Columbia, the State. Congratulations for your posts, i really like them. But, don´t you think that records like The Whole Love by Wilco, and specially the marvelous last My Morning Jacket album, Circuit, should deserve some recognition? Well, with all respect, I just don´t understand why american audience prefer a band like Foo Fighters over some great bandas like My Morning Jacket and Wilco. But is just an opinion. Rock on!

  • I'm stuck in the past, but BK- El Camino I did get into.... alot. Great Album.

  • With metal, my top 5

5 - "Endgame" by Rise Against

    4 - "Imaginaerum" by Nightwish

3 - "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" by Dream Theater

2 - "Wasting Light" by Foo Fighters

1 - "Onto The Locust" by Machine Head

Others: TH1RT3EN, The King Of Limbs, The Hunter (Mastodon), D.R.U.G.S., David Comes To Life, El Camino, Evanescence, Hope (The Blackout), Reckless & Relentless (Asking Alexandria), Set The World On Fire (BVB) and In Waves (Trivium)

  • @RandyGold999 Props for listing Mastodon...

But instant dislike for listing generic shitcore bands like Asking Alexandria and BVB.

  • @FrequentFly3r Actually, listened to AA a bit better, and they are actually not that good...they suck a bit...but BVB is great in my opinion. They might dress very weird, but they DO have talent. But Mastodon is better than both :)

  • @RandyGold999 They (BVB) are technically skilled, yes... But their music is just so clichéd and unoriginal in almost every aspect. The lyrics are cheesy and it (to me) feels so uninspired and emotionless, making it very boring.

However, there are good things to be said about them aswell, but in my opinion, the bad REALLY outweighs the good.

Everything else that you listed is great, though :)

  • @FrequentFly3r And this top has been changed, in my opinion the best album of 2011 is "A Dramatic Turn If Events" by Dream Theater, then comes "Wasting Light", and then "Unto The Locust"...

  • I agree with foo fighters. You guys should definitely check out the band Kyng. They released an album in September it was fucking great. Don't really care that it didn't make the list. But its really fucking good.

  • Fuck yeah black keys!

  • Comment removed

  • Good list but no Real Estate? smh.

  • totally agreed with foo fighters

  • Foo Fighters 100% totally deserved No. 1. They had one of the best albums of the year

  • WHAT ABOUT ICED EARTH - DYSTOPIA!!!!!!!!!! It's heavy metal, yeah, BUT STILL!!!

  • I thought anthrax's worship music should of been on there it is a phenomenal album, however not a big fan of foo fighters

  • ya know i was watching this at number 2 i was like if he does not put ff on 1 he should be slapt then i was like omfg he did not put ff on number one omfg omfg omfg omfg my mind is losing it then BOOM Foo Fighters on number 1 :D and rightfully so the album is so good

  • FOO FIGHTERS <3 RHCP <3

  • Tie between Wasting Light and El Camino

  • This guy is okay. Fantano is better though.

  • @YouthfulDoom way better

  • ... no Mastodon... :(

  • albums that should be there : anthrax worship music, calevera consciricy blunt force trauma, blink 182 neibourhoods

  • Foo Fighters!!!!

  • All those bands are awesome except for Megadeth.

  • @peted117 are you retarded

  • Megadeath=shit, Red Hot Chili peppers=shit, Foo Fighter=shit.

    Why am I watching this?

  • @PlatypusBro Megadeth is shit, but foo fighters and chili peppers rule, what the fuck ARE you doing here? that's a good question?

  • GORILLAZ?!?!?!?!?!?手口か各位口入り利

  • Comment removed

  • great list

  • numba 1 shud hav been avenged sevenfold- nightmare!

  • @mkunanoumoussk8r im a huge a7x fan, but idts

  • @toolbass24 Coldplay was more mainstream this year, heck they even had Rihanna on their album, I think most people consider it pop(ish). Grouplove anyone?

  • My personal favorite was David comes to life by Fucked Up.

    Who's with me?!

  • Where's Mylo Xyloto or the new Incubus album?!

  • Too bad everyone forgot about the 3 Doors Down album

  • Nightmare should have be up there!

  • @masterguitarplayer69 nightmare was last year

  • @masterguitarplayer69 that came out last year...

  • :'( No Rise Against T_T I don`t even consider The Black Keys rock...

  • Sami, I'm surprised to see that the Arctic Monkeys are not on either of these lists. Personally, "Suck It and See" is my favourite album of theirs, care to comment?

  • Foo fighters totaly deserved no:1

  • I guess none of you have heard of Bright Eyes

  • BRIGHT EYES

    ANGELS AND AIRWAVES

  • too sammi so i haven't really listen to Radiohead so i decided to get one random album and the king of limbs and i like both but the random album i got was ok computer and i got to say i like that album a lil more but king of limbs is awesome too.

  • the strokes angles no. 1

  • so... you've got the rest of the list?

  • Dude wtf why no Trivium there new album was spectacular?

  • Why isn't lulu on there ?

  • @Chisholm342 cause lulu sucks.

  • @elwulfo666 I hope you are trolling.

  • @Chisholm342 no i don't! metallica is an awesome band! i love all their 80's albums and death magnetics but lulu just sucks huge cocks! it's just not a good album: no james whos is singing, kinda lame riffs, solos are kinda missing and lou reeds voice neither sounds good nor fits into any of the song. But most of all the texts are dumb as fuck! there was no ability to put less content into a song!

  • Courtney Love and her 10 fans dislike the Foo Fighters winning it all.

  • Sami you list sucked, it didn't have RHCP, what the heck!?!?!? Jk i don't care that much but i wish you would've put it on.

  • WASTING LIIIIIIGHT! I loved foo fighters this year, saw them live and Dave looked at me, IN THE EYES! :]

  • Radiohead being on any "rock" list = unsubscribe

  • @ryo1549 no one cares....

  • love that list but id replace megadeath with rise against

  • the best album of 2011 is the drug in me is you

  • I don't really like either list :(

I missed the voting video though so I won't complain, but this would be my top 5 of the year:

    1) The Joy Formidable - The Big Roar

    2) Amplifier - The Octopus

    3) Steven Wilson - Grace For Drowning

    4) Maybeshewill - I Was Here For A Moment, Then I Was Gone

    5) And So I Watch You From Afar - Gangs

The RIOB needs more progressive rock and post rock.

  • @deano88s ASIWYFA just dont get the attention they deserve...

  • @thethreeamazingmen I know man, same with Maybeshewill, and instrumental music in general really...

  • You had a great top five man, but the Foo Fighters record ain't as good as PJ Harvey's new album. Oh and by the way the glaring omission of the century: WILCO'S THE WHOLE LOVE. ARGUABLY THE BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR AND OF THEIR CAREER!. C'mon man... and you picked the Foo Fighters?

  • Very much agreed with Foo Fighters-Wasting Light as number one, they made an amazing album and were the best freaking band my family has ever seen LIVE yet.

  • Way too highly rated for the Black Keyes record. All their crap sounds the same, and this record was no different.

  • you have absolutely no taste in music

  • The RIOB needs more PJ Harvey

  • Foster the People too pop?

  • Iced Earth - Dystopia? anyone? ...wtf

  • anyway good chart! wasting light deserve it

  • I thought you liked I'm with you

  • crusfy me.... adeles 21,,, shes a shot for rocks revival

  • @themaninthemirror131 Good lord, ok again, I don't hate albums that aren't rock, dipshit, but I don't put make a top 5 rock list and put a bunch of folky acoustic shit on it. Just as I wouldn't make a top 5 hip-hop album list and put Slayer or Hank Williams on it

  • tbh dude i liked lulu so fuck you

  • @METALLICA848 and oh btw megadeth shouldnt even be in the top 100 let alone the top 5 they suck sooo much ass

  • i would really like to see neighboors by blink182 on that list, that was my favourite of the year but oh well :)

  • Well, Mastodon and Foo Fighters made really great albums this year, and even though Skinny Pupppy might not be considered "rock", they also made a fantastic album as well in October

  • this is one of the best Megadeth album , imo it should be #1

  • To bad Sixx:A.M.'s This Is Gonna Hurt didn't make the list, but over all I pretty much agree

  • well of course we agreed on black keys and foo fighters because if they weren't number 1 and number 2 then our lists would be TOTALLY WRONG! um, i mean they wouldn't be as good. but other than those albums the other albums on these lists were great too (especially megadeth and chili peppers)

  • u should made a top 10 i don`t think top 5 is enough to cover the albums that came out this year

  • Anybody else kinda want to see Weightless on this? I know it's not really ROCK, but a beautiful album no less.

  • foofighters=chorus abusers

  • My list:

    5. Anthrax - Worship Music

    4. Queensrÿche - Dedicated to Chaos

    3. Megadeth - TH1RT3EN

    2. Thrash Or Die - Poser Holocaust

    1. Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare

  • Where the fuck is rise AGAINST EEENNNNDDDDDDGGGGGGAAAAMMMEEEE

  • You know one album that everyone forgot about was the truth is ... by Theory of a Deadman

  • This all just seems far too North American

  • How could you disagree with the Fooies as number one! Absolutely perfect, they truly deserve it--they started us off strong and never left our hearts :)

  • Realistic version of Sami's album list:

    Im With Poo

    Helplessness Poo's

    Wasting Paper

    King of Skims

    The Brown Keys-

Brown River with there self titled album, funnily enough, also called Brown River

    .....your move Jarroush

  • @chapsofsatan Haha you just made my day, this is the type of stuff Sami loves!

  • @chapsofsatan well played chapsofsatan...or should I say ASS chapsofsatan?

  • Foo Fighters deserve number 1 no doubt. The only problem I have is where the hell is Mastodon rocker nation?

  • FFFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKK YYYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FOOOIES!!!!

  • What about Black Country Communion? that would have been my number one...

  • what a shockingly generic list

  • bit disappointed that noel gallagher wasn't there but oh well

  • "Suck It and See" was an awesome album too

  • FOO FIGHTERS FOR LIFE! <3

  • riob ur awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!really haha ur great! great vid thanks man

  • no neighborhoods!

  • CIRCUITAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE LIST

  • Really??? "Velociraptor!" didn't figure??? (Not Cool)

  • same guitar as in the video of red hot chili peppers dani california lol

  • I agree with Foo's for #1, I just would have enjoyed some killer solos.

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge foos fan, but Wasting Light wasn't that good in my opinion. There was a few good songs but it wasn't as good as people made it out to be, and when people say its their best stuff since the Colour and The Shape, it was nowhere near that. just my opinion

  • @blendoutt What FF album since colour and shape do you like more than Wasting Light?

  • 5? Why so many? Why not 1 or 2? :)

Also, foo fighters no.1? That's sad.

  • where the hell is locust?! wow. mine would include locust, in waves, american capitalist, beast and union black!

  • THE STROKES!! ANGLES!

  • @RockItOutBlog, Sami X-Mas is almost here and I'm getting as much CDs as I can, so Im getting Helplessness Blues from Fleet Foxes, and probably the Head and the Heart, and maybe a PFloyd album, do you have any suggestions (btw: I personally like your music choices: folk rock, indie rock.. I feel like this is a bromance, uh oh..)

  • @BigRockMusicFan it's all about what you like, man.

  • @RockItOutBlog folk, prog, grunge, indie, alt rock its all good!

  • THE BLACK KEYS SUCK!

  • hye do you like screamo, p[ost-hardcore or metalcore music

  • the foo's at milton keyenes were amazing! i'm glad i was there.. \m/

  • The best album in my opinion and in agreement to my music taste was "Reckless & Relentless" by Asking Alexandria :D

  • heeeeey! "Not so great albums released by not so great bands"? Alright lulu sucks, but....that's not Metallica's fault!

    Metallica = legends of metal.

They have already proven they can do better, proof? I will simply say "beyond magnetic - EP" check it out ladies and gentlemen, THAT is what metallica is all about.

    Thank you.

  • I'm surprised that Foster The People's album Torchis isnt on here i mean a lot of people only listen to pumped up kicks but listen to the whole album and you will see that they have a bunch of other really good songs

  • dude, what song do you use in the beginning?

  • @StripesElephant it's called No Tomorrow by Beyond The State

  • thumbs up for the old wall!

  • FOO FIGHTERS!

  • Sami, this is list totally different than the other one you made this year

  • Kind of think it should have been American Capitalist instead of Th1rt3en, but other than that, I like the list. Can't wait for more albums in 2012!

  • I Luv it this List!

  • I'm so glad that Red Hot Chili Peppers at least made it on the list! :D

  • as long as the foo fighters were number 1, im happy with the list.

  • @RockItOutBlog, Check out James Durbin . His album is my number one album of the year . His album is called "Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster" it's great !

  • At least we all agree about the Foo Fighters being awesome

  • Fleet Foxes deserves better than fifth place ;<

  • I like your choices. Mine personally would be:

    5. Sublime with Rome- Yours Truly

    4. Cage the Elephant- Thank You, Happy Birthday

    3. Blink-182- Neighborhoods

    2. Incubus- If Not Now, When?

    1. Foo Fighters-Wasting Light

  • Everything he said about the Foo Fighters was true: it mad me sad, made me laugh, and after I saw them live once, it made me want to see them again and agian. Good #1 choice.

  • Chilis should have been no.1 !

  • No Mastodon......how was that possible?

  • @92Disturbed I know RIGHT!?!?!?

  • @92Disturbed it's my number 6

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers wasn't on your list?!... I think that is also an album that once you have seen the band play it live makes you hear different things in the songs. I saw them in Manchester last month, so epic. I highly recommend you attend one of their gigs when they tour the US :)

  • Radiohead are hardly even Rock music.

  • Where's Mogwai's Hardcore Will Never Die on, like, everyone's list?

  • I'm not here to see who got the top rock albums- because, to be honest, my musical tastes are a bit more in I guess what could be called the "experimental" stuff. But thanks Sami for being entertaining for 2011! Enjoy seeing your commentary every time, even if I usually don't care much for the music.

  • @mioluce well thanks for being a part of this

  • Sami thanks for putting my video in the responses are you going to resurrect PRO/CON?

  • Hi guys and Hi RIO! very good choice, but I m from Italy, and I suggest u at least to listen some songs from the best rock album 2011, by my side of course: the album is "WOW" released by "Verdena" , an Italian alternative rock band in activity since 1998. hope you like and agree with my choice :) greetings from Rome!

  • @bingoblu thanks for your suggestion all the way from Roma!

  • I don't understand all the praise for Wasting Light. It's yet another average Foos record...not bad, not amazing either. I agree with the choice of Bon Iver though.

  • Good list, I agree with Bon Iver being up there :) though I still stand by that Suck It And See by the Arctic Monkeys is one of 2011's greats.

  • I personally think that the RiOB tends to trend towards the lighter sorta indie-rock, Pitchforky (sorry!) kinda music. And there's nothing wrong with that, it's just not really my speed.

So on that note I do sorta disagree with the list, mostly because I don't find Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, or Bon Iver all that interesting, and I'm With You I thought was only average though admittedly it's growing on me. Nice to see Th1rt3en represented though, so I'm not super miffed about the whole deal.
