I think the photo was intentional, any photographer knows that's not how you "do photography", with a belly sticking out. I saw her in Olympia, WA while I was going to school up there. It was one of the first times I ever had heroin. I'm clean now and I'll never forget that night. I have no idea how I stayed awak except that she was so amazing. It was in a tiny garage with way too many people in it. Her whole band was SO tight and together. I love her.

Oh my crap you guys will you quit obsessing over her weight? So she's a little bit fat. If she was a guy, no one would give a rat's arse if she had a bit of a gut or not. Saying that it's okay that she's a little pudgy or that she is beautiful anyway just makes it worse. You're still suggesting that she is obligated to justify her appearance. I'm sure she would rather be noticed for her music, which is her career, than her looks, which are utterly irrelevant.

@metalnotplastic it's beyond lame to get worked up about Mirah's weight, but i do think your comment misses the fact that Mirah does very much bank on a specific conscious image. Within her demographic she's seen as very stylish and cool. Go to Santa Cruz and check out how many people are trying to look like her. This reality drives her popularity and sales and so it is false to say that her looks are irrelevant.

All we need is another thing a plastic surgeon crafted, degrading art by claiming to be a singer/writer/artist...most male songwriters aren't supermodels yet we don't seem to be saying many derogatory things about them. Get the notion that every woman is supposed to be judged by her appearence out of your heads, you're just discouraging female artists from going out there and making themselves known.
