  • @Churchcantor At the beginning of the war they did because they were only enlisted for 90 days, so they didn't realise how much it sucks to carry a super heavy backpack

  • Did they really fight with their packs on?

  • Battle scene in "God and Generals" was much more historically accurate. The newer version of "The Alamo" was way more historically accurate but sadly didn't do well in the Box Office due to lack of sensationalism.

  • They seem to have alot of powder and they seem to be fireing several bullets per second lol

  • Basically the Union army at this time was too cocky and under trained, they had underestimated their enemy greatly.

  • @Jacen237

That was common for both sides early in the war, in 1861 everyone believed the war would be over in 90 days or a year, and one big battle would decided it. The rebels was just as badly under trained however they had better leadership and also controled the Railroads, allowing them to get fresh troops to the front quicker, one thing they left out is that the uniforms and flags of both sides at First Bull Run were so similar that Union and Confederates at times fired on their own men

  • I'm so glad to have seen this documentary. All this time I was under the misconception that Bee was white and the two armies had both gray and blue uniforms during this battle. And that firing cannon would make them recoil. So glad to find out the truth.

  • @JoeHooker11 Also, mini balls are somehow made of powder. Just look at it. And they were using them, too. At the onset of the war. Ha. ha.

  • at 4:32 a helicopter flies by behind the house, lol

  • @univox6786 damn lol yeah

  • @univox6786 Time Traveler!

  • @univox6786 Was it a Union or Confederate helicopter? Lol.

  • So Stonewall Jackson's first words in this series are "Fall back men?" :P

  • Ironically, especially in that battle there was a great deal of confusion regarding uniform identification. Some of the northern militia units wore gray uniforms and some of the confederate troops actually wore blue uniforms. Thomas Jackson being one of them.

  • Sorry to point this out folks, but Jackson was wearing his old blue uniform on that day. He hadn't had time to adopt his new gray one yet; this being the first major engagement in the war.
