  • This reminds me of that smosh video "the internet master" lol

    Great vid! ;)

  • love this guy

  • Thanks man for the clipp. I was watching a bounch of videos from other on doing videos. Most of them very advanced, but you sir nailed down quite a few very practical and good advice. Thanks from Sweden ;-)

  • A really interesting video with helpful tips, many thanks.....all I have to do now is get started!

  • making a video and be famouse you not need that..

  • Thanks !! =)

  • How rich do u think I am

  • @laklodg With that YouTube handle I'd say you're very rich. You certainly must be related to Donald Trump. His nickname, I believe, is LakLo. Plus, I'm fairly certain he and his family didn't do well in English class. Punctuation is not Donald's strong point - selling and leasing real estate is. Do you happen to do that for a living? :->>>>>>

  • @AsktheBuilder You have the best comebacks :)

  • thats true. men cant multitask

  • Awesome video Tim...

Although I knew some of this already...

I did pick up allot of great tips that I will definitely use in my videos!!!

    Thank you!

  • @Askthebuilder idk id understand this!

  • Thank you so much. Just what I've been looking for.

  • Thanks Tim!

  • thanx for the vid, it´s really helpfull. i just wonder how you do with the sound. do you record the sound it self and add it to the clips after or do you have a hidden microphone or something? and also, how do you put al the vidio clips together? do you put them in a special program, if , what program is good to use?

  • @nanna95K Mac computers come with FREE iMovie. It's amazing software. I don't know if Bill Gates gives anything of any value away for free.

  • @AsktheBuilder Windows Movie Maker is apparently the equivalent for windows Computers. If you want something more professional but still free, you might need to check out: Lightworks... Then there is Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere Elements (and Final Cut X for Mac). And then comes Professional stuff like Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas Pro etc. (or Final Cut Pro 7 for Mac)

  • 9:05 that catched me offguard LoL.

  • i hate all this critism people are throwing everyone needs to stfu and watch and learn the video, thank you sir for making this helpful video, how much u wanna bet like 100% of the people who are critising this video cant even make a dam intro like that, and then again, LOOK AT WHEN THE VIDEO WAS MADE DAM IT!!!!!!!!!

  • @FsTutorialz Thanks! I do tire of the constant criticism. I could understand it if people were paying to watch it. But for goodness sake, the video is FREE.

  • 85% likes, 85 year old.Nah, nah... This videos good...

  • and all kinds of bad joo-joo-magumbo

  • Now don't get a peice of crap one!!! Hmm... kind of like this one.... Lol

  • I think it was a great video !

    Nice work !

  • Um how do you edit the video for free and won't give you any viruses? Which ones can I use? Please help me.

  • Yeah good video the thing is your camera isn't really any good if you had a better camera your videos would be much better

  • @PigBeatable Run that by me again. Your command of the language has me befuddled. Did you *read* all the comments? Did you read when this video was made?

  • Hi Tim,

I had to reply to this film.

    Fantastic ... wonderful!

Your approach is just the ticket. The right mix and balance.

If I had to pick a another dad you would be the first to come to mind :)

  • so how do u make such a bad how to vid if urs is poor

  • @edtheevil1 Well I hate to say this, but based on your command of the English language, it may be hopeless. Just a little tough love.

  • Great video!

  • Question: on a B-role how do you keep the host's voice continue even if it is on a separate clip?

  • @jakerussel editing software......

  • @AsktheBuilder I got it already. Thanks a lot for the tips. I try to follow it so I could make great videos like you guys.

  • awesome ...

  • Just a few weeks ago, you were teaching me how to reroute supply lines in my wall and now I run into you teaching me how to make videos?

Perfect. I appreciate the depth and span you guys put into this. Good job!

  • amazing video this is my first time on youtube but i have some videos of games i play like combat arms my video names are shotgunning on combat arms, so thanks a lot :D.

  • Nice explanation I love this video and yes I understand that this video is 240p because it was like filmed in 2006 I know what kind of quality they had back then thanks for the vid :D

  • =D I still think it's nice quality AND not nice comments people BAD PEOPLE

  • HEY PEOPLE YES ITS LOW VIDEO QUALITY HE FILMED IT BEFORE THEY HAD BETTER TECH> GET OVER AND STOP COMMENTING ABOUT IT. sheesh

  • @NinjightNationCorp Thanks! This video was made in 2006 I believe. At that time the file size you could upload to YouTube was SMALL and this was a long video. So the quality had to suffer. Plus, HD cameras back then were in the tens of thousands of dollars. Prosumer HD cameras were just starting to hit the market. Yes, some people are far too critical.

  • @AsktheBuilder I bought a 1080i HD camera but i'm really regretting not buying a 1080p camera. Is there much difference? Also, i went through all the settings within the camera and none of them seem to make much of a difference...is there any particular setting for the best HD quality?

  • @AsktheBuilder You dont have a top notch camera lol a 3d camera is the best

  • awesome vid!

  • Jujumagumbo.... LMAO

  • Great i loved it. Informative and entertaining/funny. Okay it could of been in HD so what if isn't the info is the most important bit. You packed a lot in this video 10/10

  • The part where he talks about making smaller videos inside a larger one to make it more engaging. How exactly do you do that? Please i need help and i want to start making videos soon, but i want them to have smaller clips like he says. Please help.

  • THANKS

  • Thanks for the tips , i learn some today .

  • lol part 4 was the best

  • if only all youtube videos were done this intelligently. I can only imagine all the time i would save watching numb nuts doing videos."raises hand" yes I am one of those numb nuts currently lol im watching this video thanks for posting.

  • Thanks

This was very good. Thank for the video: reggieford559

  • Everybody here is a youtuber in the making :)

  • Thanks for the video

  • Thanks for the video it help me so much

  • i luv ur vids!!

  • Hi, thanks for the Video, it was really helpful.

  • Thanks for making this video!

  • nice

  • you made me laugh when u were just standing without talking anyting. thanks for the video.

  • SHUT THE DAM THING OFF!

  • Tim,

This is a very helpful video to me, and I appreciate your efforts in getting it on line.

I've got a lot to learn, and this was a good starting point.

  • is wvga, vga, or qvga quality better to film video? which is best please answer

  • and this video is in 240p XD

  • @hardik20111 Indeed it is. It was taped five years ago. Go back and see what the size limits were back then for YouTube. It's a long video and because of their size limitations on files, this was all the bigger we could make it. I'm sure you realize that if you put a new HD version up, I loose all views - the counter goes back to zero - and all comments are erased. Thanks for you helpful comment.

  • @AsktheBuilder . I am really sorry, I did not realise that. I admit, I deserve a dislike, but honestly. Yes, honestly, it was helpful. Specially the tripod part.

    Cheers,

    Hardik

  • woow man god job you helped me a lot one vote up

  • jujumogombo.

  • @ParasiteQueen1 No. It's jujumagumbo.

  • @AsktheBuilder

    jujumagumbo. xD

  • @AsktheBuilder Thanks, I was taking notes and wasn't sure how to spell that.

  • lol you film with that crazy expensive camera and then upload video in 240p (sub-standard rez) so it looks terrible anyway. cool story bro.

  • @chongi19 Thanks. Did you see when the video was uploaded? Over four years ago. Do you know what the quality guidelines for uploading to YouTube were at that time? I'll tell you, no HD and we uploaded just about the largest size we could at the time. Be aware that if you overwrite this video now with the original at higher resolution, the Views drop to Zero and all comments are erased. So I'm stuck with this video on YT forever.

  • @AsktheBuilder Are There any more filming vids on this?

  • i just want to know how to make a video like, when you draw a fox, you can put movements and you can put them in a whole video and cut-out videos witch you can double and put on the screen can you help me with that?

  • @frank3949 You bet. Go up above and type in You Suck at Photoshop #1. Then watch every video in that series.

  • thanks it helps

  • lmao buy the most expensive camera you can afford. : /

  • what if im poor??

  • thiis made me lol (:

  • Great job! I can start create my own vidz.its also my habit to move my hand around.....thankz!

  • Nice job on this video Tim. Full of info I Have Ideas but I do forget This part of making movie videos going to save this. I have a hard time getting people to play parts or to colab in a project. I am using Imovie Too.

  • So, what's the latest camera with an audio input for miking the host? where can i get the audio gear.

    thanks.

  • Tim

I loved your video video. Ha! You are so energetic and fun.

    Your Indianapolis Friend,

    Shelly

  • @ModHomeEcTeacher Thanks Shelly! I taped this video about 5 years ago. It's still pretty topical. The gear has changed, but the tips will never.

  • I have a horrible camera. Bad tripod. Bad, bad lighting. This is gonna be hard... good video though. =]

  • Good video, but to much money to spend, there are people on you tube making succesful videos on youube with an iphone

  • Thought it was briliant.. Basic advice; always say: start right finish right.

  • nice i am a beginner :D

  • Lol, " don't get a peice of CRAP" 01:14

  • Cool :D

  • a jiggling cam makes good fight scene

n i got one of those that grabs on tree branches n places to get nice over view shot

    dont need expensive cam

    pretty good advice though

    thanks

  • "Shut the damn mower off!" Hah! Funny!

  • Good advice.

  • Thank you so much! I've been looking everywhere for some good tips for video making for a school video project, and this really helped.

  • Cool. Thanks for the tips!

  • Awesome Thanx for sharing

  • Yes that is actually how to do it and if noone appriciates him then shut up and get the hell out of here...

  • Thank you very much!

  • What does it take to make a video with regular video camera, and 3 idiots willing to do anything for hits on youtube?

  • hey tim

greetings from ireland ,great vid there . some great little tips for me thanks for taking time out and putting it together.

  • the video is great

  • nice

  • Holy shit we have a lot of professionals in the comments here today. You didn't pay him to make this video neither were you made to watch. So shut up and take it for what it is. I appreciated the video thanks for making it man.

  • @Zombiebrainstew Thanks! I was wondering where in the heck the calvary was!

  • So... This is a builder... Telling us how to make a movie....

    ...riiiiight

  • @ri0la212 That's correct. I can't remember if in the video that I mention I was professionally trained to do video by some of the top people at the ABC and NBC affiliates in Cincinnati, OH. Oh, and for what it's worth, your sarcastic comment is in a very tiny minority. Take some time to read the other comments from those who appreciate the tips. Perhaps you can use some of them to help you make your "How to Play this Video Game" videos that you're doing on your channel.

  • @AsktheBuilder I dont recall having to use high quality lighting, a decent camera and a tripod to record directly off my screen, but hey, if thats what we all need to do...

  • @ri0la212 You just don't get it...... Heavy Sigh...... We'll let the Court of Public Opinion weigh in on your comments. Remember, life's full of decisions - make great ones.

  • nice explanations and very good video thanks

  • i think it was awsome, nice video!

this was the kind of video i was looking for. to be honest, this was probebly the first out of 100 videos i have watched in my life on how to make a good video that actually got the answers to my question. thanks!

  • shut the DAMN MORROW OFF. lol

  • this guy is not living anymore hes dead

  • @lod12345ify Boo! I've got news for you. As of today, I'm still on this side of the grass.

  • This is to complicated......aaaaaaa!!!!!

  • Great tips: Some people just miss the important ones or don't take them in. If that's you, then watch it several times. These tips are for FREE. I've done my own video's and believe me its tougher than you think, especially if you don't want to look like a goofball.

    Thanks for this video.

  • thnks,, yur tips are very helpful.

  • good information, thanks

  • For something you made three years ago these are some very good points. I'm in the process of creating a new youtube account (This one) and starting some new videos. I've made some videos before but they all lacked...interest, and these are some really, really useful tips to work with. Hopefully I can make something I'll be happy with soon and put it up. ^.^ Thanks Tim.

  • cool

  • wery good but ur jokes are pretty lame!

  • @maibahaiba Thanks! But you have no room to criticize. I went to your channel and you don't have one video uploaded that you did telling jokes. Talk about lame...... Jeeesh. Did you think we wouldn't check?

  • @AsktheBuilder Usually video, the person making the video appreciates their comments, and learn from them, obviously, you don't. You really don't deserve your views and comments if you don't appreciate them. You don't need to go out and buy a billion dollar camera, tripod, and lighting to make a video. You can make good videos without spending a lot of money.

  • @CrashVideoProdctions I simply don't know what to say. I'll start by mentioning I never said spend a billion dollars. Well let the Court of Public Opinion weigh in on your comment - especially after they go to your channel to see what you've done. Finally, I have a crystal clear Comment Policy at the home page of this channel. I allowed yours because it's a great example of the old saying: Actions speak louder than words.

  • @AsktheBuilder First off, thank you for replying! I also appreciate you making this video, It was actually very helpful! I understand that to make the best video, you need the best equipment. And a billion dollars was a little bit of an exaggeration. Thank you for taking time to help others and using your skills to help people! I apologize for being rude. -CrashVideoProdctions. Also, just in case you were wondering, i'm not an idiot, (most times) my name is that way cause' of max chars.

  • wonderful!

  • Good Video

  • That was really good and funny in places Lol Great

  • @tkdbb1666 watch the video again...... It's made with video editing software

  • Tim that was a helpful video and I'm going to make some changes in the way I make mine. Your future competition, Greg Vanden Berge

  • @gregvancom You're most welcome. Competition is a good thing. I'm ready to man up.

  • @AsktheBuilder Alright and thanks again for the great tips and Inspiration to do better.

  • Real Funny

  • I'm just starting to learn and this was exactly what I needed. Thanks.

  • Do you have any tips for how to liven up your speach? I sound really dull and monotonous on my videos and really want to try and liven myself up a bit! I will definitely be taking on board all that you said in this video too, some really great advice in there!

  • @RetroRepair Get excited about the topic. Drink four cups of coffee before taping.

  • @AsktheBuilder I can't even turn on the camcorder without 4 cups, maybe I'll try doubling my dose ^_^

  • @RetroRepair watch nigahiga

    ^^

    try to copy his voice

  • love it subscribed!

  • Great advice for anyone wanting to make a video! Thanks

  • Thanks for the video man. Keep up the good work

  • Perfect video! Thank you!

  • Great video. Thank you!

  • Haha, 2:28 to 3:32 is funny :P Thanks alot, this video has helped me so much!

  • You're most welcome. Tell all about it please.

  • @AsktheBuilder Oh I will, don't worry :D

    I might even feature it...

    oh and also subbed.

  • Many thanks!

  • 5 stars :)

  • thank you very much

  • "SHUT THE DAMN MOWER OFF!" lol

  • Um,dude, making a video is not this hard. JEEZ! All you have to do is get some minor lighting, microphones and any camera. MAYBE a tripod. I've made a video before(I admit it kinda failed) but it was easy and would have worked if I had wanted to post it.

  • This has to be the funniest comment I've read in months. You start telling the world how easy it is, and you end saying you failed. I can't stop laughing. Did you read your comment before hitting the Post Comment button? :->>>>>>>

  • @AsktheBuilder Muahaha I'm laughing hard too! He or she didn't mean it in a bad way but it came out so funny!

  • @AsktheBuilder all you need is a camera. no need for lights and tripods and stuff. unles your making money, its a waste

  • Uh, pardon me..... You must have that backwards. NOTHING in this video was copied from any other video.

  • G'Day Tim,

I like the idea of the wireless microphone but could you explain how you connect to the camera's audio in jack ?

And just a comment on the camera - it wouldn't matter what someone was using, there is always something newer/better on the shelves the day after you buy what you have ;-)

  • A radio receiver.... Just go Google them.

  • Great tips. Thanks!

  • Lol ok I see. Didnt mean to offend you.

  • I wouldn't say you offended me, but your comment was of little value. I only published it and responded, because I felt that all should know at the time, the camera used was almost a pro model. In addition, the *quality* of what you're seeing is horrible to what you see now on YouTube. I now upload all my work in HD. That was not permitted in 2005.

  • I hope he didnt make that video with that "pro camera" Lol the quality is pretty bad.

  • This video was made nearly 5 years ago long before HD was affordable. What's more, it was loaded onto YouTube when the resolution standards were much LOWER. Back in the old days of YouTube, there were severe restrictions as to file size. The longer your video - and this was just about as long as they allowed - the worse the resolution so that you could keep the file under their maximum limit. The camera used was the one shown and at the time it cost close to $1,000.

  • very nice xD

  • Very good job tim ... Im trying to teach a bunch of kids how to make there own vids.. very informative ... thanxs Jay

  • Do you know how to get any free vid editing software?

  • On any Apple computer. They all come with iMovie.

  • @AsktheBuilder What about to download from somewhere? I have an Acer and I cant find anything of the like on it. It doesn't even need to be very fancy or anything....

  • HEY, I LIKE the flashy shirt!

  • thank u!

  • Wow nothing else but Wow

  • Tim, I liked your vid and favor-ed! But why don't you put in hot link in to your description, so, that your viewers can just click on to go straight to your website?!!

    Just a suggestion.
