As a Caesar salad fiend, it's so nice to see the way it's classically done! Although, I would forgo authenticity as far as the croutons are concerned. It's a hassle trying to eat them with a fork. I'd rather opt for a few slices of crusty, garlicky, grilled bread on the side to eat with my hands. Sourdough sounds so good right now. And in addition to the grated parmigiano reggiano, I like it when there are just a few shavings of it as a garnish. Dammit, I'm hungry. Why do I watch this!??
no one, and I mean NO ONE makes the classic Ceasar Salad anymore. It's simply a cheap way to use old ice burg and croutons. For once, I'd like to get a ceasar salad that's truely made right...is that too much to ask?
When he's making the Caesar, we never see the empty bowl, so there actually is no visual of how much dressing is in the salad. Double check the video.
A corn dog is basically a sausage dipped in batter and deep fried. Fish sticks are made out of fish flakes and a few other ingredients, are breaded and cooked. and they are GOOD EATS!!!

If you hang yourself up on customs you fail to really enjoy simplicity. Of course America and Europe are a lot alike. The actual list of dishes that we claim to have made originated someplace else. Pasta started in Asia... so did tea... and coffee started in Ethiopia. What did we do?
...
Make parodies of old popular dishes...
Though i do have to agree with you on corn dogs. Frozen prepackaged corn dogs have got to be one of Americas biggest f*ck-ups. Right next to new Coke.
uh, dumb question but, what's the name of that green that's white/yellow at the bottom and yellow/green at the tips, and it's got very small delicate fronds and little leaves; he handles it alot in the loose-leaf mix scenes like when he's washing the greens in the sink or drying them, or when he puts down the dressed mixed salad on the chilled plate (and it's towards the bottom and right side of the screen at 4:02), anyone know what i'm talking about?
yeah... too bad. I watch him at least 2 times a day 5 days a week. I have all of his products and gadgets. (salt cellars all 3 of them he used thru his career, time-o-lite timers, knives, etc.) I love this guy!!
His college dean was Dean Martin. LOL!

early in this video alton says there's nothing worse, almost, than salad sitting in a pool of watered down dressing.
however, when he makes the Caesar, its like 12 pieces of lettuce sitting in a cup of dressing...
ap22987 2 years ago
he means use dry leaves, he was talking about the moisture on the surface of the leaves not the amount of dressing!
