Only in Amerika ... where else would pseudo-babble Science like Star Trek originate? Where are religions based on pseudo-sciences using made-up words (scientology)? Where else is Klingon considered a language?
Where else would ppl believe in conspiracy BS and refuse to take medicine that could prevent a disease?
@williamwilson666 Not me. I don't swallow McCarthy's attention-seeking statements... not that there's anything wrong with attention seeking... but what she is doing is just wrong.
Nice job with informed rant! Jenny McCarthy is spreading flat out dangerous ideas. Children will get sick and die as a result of parents listening to her.
Wialco59, I can only hope people like you don't reproduce or have any contact with children in any type of teaching or information based capacity. Your ignorance and distrust of science leads to a dark place and has no value in a society where people are trying to live a better life.
This muppet/puppet reminds me so much of brain-washed morons in white coats we know as doctors. Their lips move but their brain is not engaged. There are some notable exceptions of course: doctors who have woken up to the fact that they have been turned into accomplices in this organised criminal enterprise sold to a mostly unsuspecting public as "disease prevention." What a crock!
Smallpox have been killing 400,000 Europeans each year in 18th century.
In 1960's each year 2,000,000 were dying of Smallpox worldwide. Measles have killed 200 million since 19th century. In 1950's about 20,000 children were dying of Polio each year in the US. Until the 20th century few kids lived to be adults. The average life expectancy was less then 40 years. If not disease prevention you likely would have died as an infant and wouldn't be polluting internet with your stupidity, so STFU.
What's the source of your figures sonofdazhbog? It sounds like it could be the CDC, a criminal organization which fudges statistics by adding a few zeros to real figures. Even the BMJ has published an article to point out that the CDC's flu death figures are pure imagination, because the CDC's own statistics show that the real number of flu deaths is a fraction of the CDC's claimed number of 36,000 annual flu deaths.
It's funny that your kind embraces statistics when it's about the number of children who died of vaccinations or increase in autistic children - but when statistics show something you don't like it's suddenly "a conspiracy"! Well guess what - in Western countries causes of death have been meticulously documented for a very long time (in Victorian England every single death since 1837) and at that time there was no evil International Pharmaceutical companies. So please cut the crap.
Jenny is raising awareness about the dangers of vaccination, which is good, but she's also deluded in her belief that "greening" vaccines will solve the problem. Vaccines are completely safe as long as they are not used. The problem is consequently solved immediately by NOT using them.
"Belief in immunization is a form of delusional insanity."
Dr Herbert Shelton
As long as Jenny or doctors for that matter belive in vaccination, they are obviously delusionally insane.
It's becoming more and more obvious that there are people who are paid to post comments on the internet. The evidence that vaccines cause autism is overwhelming. The mechanism is known. Read up on "cytokine storm" and the argument that mercury is safe will fall flat on its face.
I'm a university student studying filmmaking and I have autism. Both my parents and myself are the great people we are now because of my autism and our acceptance of it. If you would bother to CRACK ANY peer-reviewed science journal, you'll see that every single claim from the anti-vaccine movement is pure bullshit. All information is NOT equal, and you shouldn't base your views on a few websites made by crackpot conspiracy theroists.
Stop repeating your bullshit and find some new and valid evidence to support your insane conspiracy-theroist rambling. Again, 99.99% of the medical community say that vaccines are beneficial, important, and have an almost insignificant chance of causing harm. Nuff said
99.99% of the medical community, eh? Wow. That's 1 out of every 10,000. Since there are 13500 neurologists in the US, that means that only one and a third of all neurologists disagree with you.
Well, we know that Russell L Blaylock is one of them. So who is the other third neurologist that completes the 99.99 percentage? Pray tell.
You'd think, wouldn't you? But they do. If you have a stafff of 10 posting 2 scripted comments per minute, it is approx 1000 comments per day. Every small little community adds up.
It is harder and harder to find ppl who don't think there are corporate shills on the net posting ads disguised as comments on the net.
@iamgabrielf The primary symptoms of a cytokine storm are high fever, swelling and redness, extreme fatigue and nausea. In some cases the immune reaction may be fatal. And that = autism HOW? You may want to look up what the symptoms are before you post bullshit about how vaccines cause autism. You do know what Poison/Venom is right? If I get bit by a Cobra I do not get autism from it. No it put it's venom into me and it's killing me.
@iamgabrielf You really need to understand poison from a brain disorder because they are two very very very different things. Mercury poisoning and cytokine storm are not the same thing as autism. Hell you can get merucry poisoning from eating fish that does not mean you have autism now. No it's means you have say it with me MERUCRY POISONING!!!!!
So, anecdotal evidence is just dismissed? I don't think Jenny is lying when she says that in interviews with other mothers, their children became despondent shortly after receiving inoculations.
WHO admits that there is mercury, aluminum and glycol in the shots. I remember when "trace elements" of mercury in drinking water was said to cause birth defects - according to the scientific community - now, supposedly, the same community is saying it's no big deal???!!! wtf?
It's a matter of DOSAGE. Mercury is only toxic in when received in a particular amount. The amount of mercury in the average vaccination program is less than 1/1000 of the toxic amount.
Nevertheless, I remain skeptical of the efficacy of most vaccines e.g. polio was dying when the so-called antidote was introduced.
I think that much of the vaccinations are more for special interest profits than the arrest or deterrence of disease. On that idea I do agree with Carry and McCarthy.
"Science" is so politicized it's difficult to tell which test results are unbiased e.g. "scientific" reports that claim Marijuana use is addictive change the established definition of addiction.
Vaccines are actually the smallest part of medical profits, and are in fact the LAST thing that Big Pharma wants you to take; because you won't need to take medicine and drugs, which is where the REAL money is.
"Vaccines are actually the smallest part of medical profits"
It's nevertheless a multi-billion dollar racket, but you're right, the medical-pharmaceutical mafia makes far greater profits from other sources, such as the drugs and other treatments used to treat the wide-spread harm vaccines cause.
What "wide-spread harm" are you referring to? I likely would've heard about such "wide-spread harm" on the news. Your clearly just pulling words out of your ass now.
BS. Before mercury was removed from most vaccines, the cumulative total injected into children far exceeded the amount of mercury deemed accetable by EPA standards. No wonder autism cases went through the roof.
First of all: there is NO EVIDENCE that mercury, either by itself or with other factors, can cause autism. Just so you'll know, I have autism and I'm damn glad to have it, as it's a part of my life and who I am.
Second of all: ALMOST ANY SUBSTANCE can be toxic when received in a particular amount, sugar, caffeine, fat, alcohol, salt. Even before mercury was removed from vaccines, it posed no threat was just removed to appease the EPA's unreasonable standards
Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon, is the inventor of many forms of modern neurosurgery and a doctor of nutrition. Now retired, was among the elite neurosurgeons.
His research concludes that vaccines are a danger and provide no known benefit. Toxins and vaccines produce what is called a cytokine storm. A cytokine storm is the body's reaction to thymerosol, aluminum, ether, mycoplasma, cancer viruses and stealth viruses. It's THE LINK between vaccination and autism. We now know the mechanism.
"Our society is littered with millions of children who have been harmed by vaccines in one way or another.
Also, let us not forget the millions of parents who have had to watch helplessly as their children's lives have been destroyed by devastating vaccination programmes."
It is frustrating to see ppl completely ignore the evidence provided in these comment sections of a video. They just continue to repeat the same lies over and over. I think many of them are paid shills.
Jenny McCarthy is a marginal actress and a former Playboy Playmate.
She is NOT an epidemiologist. She is does NOT hold a PhD, or even a Masters degree in a life sciences field. She is another narcissistic actress who can't mind her own business.
I bet the only person less qualified to speak on issues of medical science would be one "vaccineshurtbabies".
You do your job at McDonald's and let the doctors worry about vaccines.
spoken like a true blue egocentric eugenisist ! Go ahead and collect your big fat paycheck from big pharma , and go on telling the lies. There is a specail place in hell for thoes of your charactor. The good news is the more degrees you have the more degrees you get !
Jenny McCarthy may be an ex-Playboy Playmate and a fluffhead, but she's still has more brains than all the idiot doctors who believe that vaccines prevent diseases combined.
Really? According to SCIENTIFICALLY compiled data on virology and epidemiology stretching back for well over a century, those "idiot" doctors and their vaccines are the primary reason we can expect to live longer than 45 years.
Those "idiot doctors" have quite a bit more intellectual credibility than some grade school drop-out that argues with strangers on YouTube all day.
It's all a scam and an organised criminal enterprise made to look respectable by means of lashings of pseudo-science, and most medical doctors are too stupid to notice, while others realise that it's in their best interest to keep their mouths shut.
As Dr Eva Snead MD says: "Any mother who realises that vaccines are useless and dangerous is better informed than the average medical doctor."
You give her too much credit. Not only does she not have a masters or PhD, she doesn't have a bachelor's degree in anything at all either.
Personally, I see no reason to call her an actress since she can't act. She plays herself, crossing and rolling her eyes, making faces and screaming. You are very generous with your compliments.
"Not only does Jenny not have a masters or PhD etc"
Who cares? Dr Eva Snead MD used to say that any well-informed morher knows more about vaccines than the average doctor. Indeed, but it's hardly surprising considering that medical school turns medical students into brain-washed morons.
Nothing to ignore. Dr.Blaylock is a conservative shill with an anti-science agenda.
The fatalities associated with a cytokine storm are not entirely understood, but they are always a meager proportion of the total deaths related to a pathogen. The pathogen itself is ALWAYS responsible for orders of magnitude more deaths than the vaccine (see the 1918 flu pandemic, and SARS numbers). Remember, the object here is to SAVE lives.
Excuse me? Did you just say "the 1918 "Spanish Flu" pandemic was caused by vaccinations"?
It's the same thing I tell the idiot Creationists. Read a book or two. Get an education. Don't believe everything you hear, and learn to think beyond your own skull.
Go back and look at some of your comments on this page!
Open minded? Nope.
Rational? Nope.
An ignorant blow-hard who talks about things they know nothing about? Yep.
I see you suffer from acute paranoia. I mean LISTEN TO YOURSELF for Gosh sake!
"Hey, those people who've dedicated their lives to saving children and helping others are committing crimes against humanity for supporting the cheapest and most long-lasting method of preventing disease!"
Where did you read that? The website for The Community of Dangerously-Delusional Conspiracy Theorists? How can and perfectly legal, government-sanctioned, and very public organization be an "organized criminal enterprise?" You clearly are just some delusional asshole with a deep-seated resentment of the medical industry for some unexplained reason. You deserve to have every disease known to man infect you. Enjoy the smallpox and measles jackass.
We need vaccines in order to survive. They protect us against several horrible and deadly diseases and collectively save billions of live every year. There's nothing evil about them.
"No vaccine has ever protected anyone against a disease it was used against. Vaccination is child abuse and a crime against humanity."
Dr med G Buchwald MD, Germany
"I was shocked to find that this whole vaccine business was indeed a gigantic hoax. Most doctors beleive that vaccines are useful, but when one looks at th proper statistics one finds that this is not so."
Dr A Kalokerinos MD, Australia
"Vaccination is the biggest crime against humanity."
Again, your just taking random quotes from incompetent crackpot doctors and presenting them out of context. 99.99% of the medical community agrees that vaccines are beneficial, good, and have almost no negative effects. NUFF SAID!
"When I looked into it further, I was shocked to find that this whole vaccine buisness was indeed a gigantic hoax. Most doctors believe that vaccines are useful, but when one looks at the proper statistics one finds that this is not the case."
Dr A Kalokerinos MD, Australia
What if most of the doctors you refer to simply haven't got the time or the inclination to do the bit of research that's required to arrive at the inevitable conclusion that vaccination is a fraud?
I'm going to stop replying to your delusional, idiotic, childish, retarded "facts" that you clearly pull out of nowhere just because your a chickenshit asshole retard who can't bear to admit that he's wrong. The whole world will be a much better place if you and every single anti-vaccine asshole would just catch every disease known to man and die in agony.

i had bad reactions to the mmr when i was younger, not autistic however it caused side effects that the dr claimed wasnt linked and after checking up with several other drs my mother finally got the answer that yes what i experienced was due to the vaccine.
Jenny McCarthy is not a scientist and has said some unscientific things -quite so. But the entire thimerosal argument has become a giant pissing contest. The bizarre increase in autism was given half-ass treatment by 'tha authoriteyes' for years. Like a lot of pissed off mothers she is doing the best she can with what she's got. It is OUR fault, the rational minded, for procrastination on this topic - fumbling a possibly serious issue because we dont like the other side's unscientific view.
What Jenny McCarthy is doing is preventing the real cause of autism to be found. it is like blaming an innocent for murder and letting the murderer off the hook. Shame.
Underlying genetic makeup of the person is the cause. So many genes have already been found. We need more research into the genetics of Autism, not a wild goose chase.

Vaccines are certainly not the only cause of autism, only a major one.
Jenny is therefore on the right track when she denounces vaccinations, but silly when she demands the "greeing" of vaccines. Asking for a "green" vaccine is as idiotic as asking for a "green" landmine or a "green" hand grenade.
Parents only need to stop handing over their babies for these neurotoxic injections to solve 95% of the problem of neurologically impaired babies and children.
You know what, I thought you were just some misinformed soul who was just blindly following McCarthy; but your comment here shows that you just have a dangerously delusional and irrational hatred of vaccination. Enjoy the measles and smallpox jackass!
No scientific consensus is based on the opinion of one delusional doctor who supports "fasting cures." 99.99% of the medical community agrees that vaccines are safe and essential for personal and communal health. Nuff said
Mommy and Daddy spent a pretty penny, try to make them proud and either add dimension to your reality or fade into obscurity as cardboard cut-outs (or should I say "puppets") are destined to do.
You don't have to be a bimbo to know when someone will never be able to get it up for anyone other than themselves.
Let's see you take the fucking shots you Eli Lilly drone.

you guys who believe these vaccines are safe need to look into some of the articles on Robert F. Kennedy Jr's website about the coverup by the vaccine companies and the CDC about mercury in vaccines. Sure, it's a GREAT idea to give a newborn baby mercury!! If YOU did it to your child you would be put in jail but you allow a doctor to do so?
I would rather give my children a vaccine and risk some side effects than allow them to die of Hepatitus or any other disease by not vaccinationg them. My aunt died of Hepatitus C when she was only 2 years old and she wasn't vaccinated.
Where did you get that bullshit "fact." NEWSFLASH, people used to let children play with mercury like a toy, and it used to be used in multiple objects around people's houses. Mercury is not toxic in small amounts, same with MOST of the world's chemicals and substances.
We are not talkinga of playing or eating mercury. We're talking about mecury being injected. When Hg is combined with aluminum and injected directly into the body it is 25,000x more toxic than when eaten. - Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon, creator of many forms of modern neurosurgery.
Innoculation recipients are 3x more likely to contract the illness against which they are vaccinated, and 60x more likely to die from it.
Without peer-reviewing, and crackpot can have any crazy theory published as legitimate science. Peer-reviewing is only done to ensure that proper scientific procedures were employed and whether or not the journal's conclusions are adequatley supported. 99.99% of doctors say vaccines are good and safe.
"99.99% of doctors say vaccines are good and safe."
That's either because they're a bunch of brain-washed twits, or else because they're too smart to bite the hand that feeds them. I guess it's a bit of a mixture of both.
"99.99% of doctors say vaccines are good and safe."
That's because that's what they have been programmed to believe at medical school.
"Our society is littered with millions of children who have been harmed by vaccines in one way or another. Also, let us not forget the millions of parents who have had to watch helplessly as their children's lives have been destroyed by devastating vaccination programmes."

I have given you the name of the doctor. It is Russell L. Blaylock, MD, retired neuroseurgeon. He, his books, publications and citations are all over the net. Now go do the homework yourself. I'm not your wet nurse.
Don't you dare tell ME to do my homework when all have done is take the conclusion that "DUHH, vaccines are bad DUHHH" and then just picked and chose whichever papers and "scientists" support yor conclusion and just ignored the other 99.99% of scientist who disagree with you. Science is about taking evidence and coming to a conclusion, pseudoscience is the opposite.
I do dare. You asked me for citations and I gave you one source and said, "go do the homework yourself." I'm not doing it for you.
By the way, what evidence do you have? I've given you fact after fact after fact. You revert to peer-reviewed studies, but supply no evidence yourself.
BTW, by peer reviewed do you mean those studies that claim cigarettes, sugar, aspartic acid, vioxx, etc. etc. are good for you? Thousands of drugs, now banned, were once aproved by peer-review.
"every single anti-vaccine asshole would just catch every disease known to man and die in agony."
The oposite is going to happen, DWP. Vaccinated people are going to get wasted because their immune systems and brains are going to be so poisoned that they won't be able to function or even remember their names.
"Science is about taking evidence and coming to a conclusion, pseudoscience is the opposite."
Vaccination is pseudo-science, in that it ignores all evidence showing that vaccines are useless and dangerous, in order to maintain vaccination's false image of safety and effectiveness. In other words, vaccine science is tobacco science, or junk science.
DWP, where's the proof that vaccines prevent diseases? There isn't any. It's just like the fairy story about the Emperor's New Clothes, where everyone pretended to see the Emperor's non-existing clothes because they had been told that only intelligent people could see them.
I'm going to stop replying to your delusional, idiotic, childish, retarded "facts" that you clearly pull out of nowhere just because your a chickenshit asshole retard who can't bear to admit that he's wrong. I invite you to check out my 'Vaccination Information Network' on facebook. I would invite DWP as well, but he'd probably start frothing at the mouth and not be able to restrain himself, so I won't.
Jenny McCarthy is probably out for publicity. She claimed that Evan was diagnosed within 5 minutes. In reality, it takes weeks or even months to officially diagnose. She can't take the heat of parenthood and she hadn't had any views since she quit being a playmate.
My son was sleeping (a coping mechanism) when the Developmental Pediatrician ran the diagnostic checklist. It took maybe 15-20 minutes to "get the diagnosis". The process of ruling things out took more like a year.
The fact that people would rather listen to brain-dead celebrities than experts who studied for several years in a certain field shows who bad society is. Celebrities such as Jenny McCarthy either let their fame kill their intellegence or take pride in stupidity. We should stop listening to celebrities who would sell their soul along with their dignity for attention.

You embarrass only yourself belittling Jenny McCarthy and her search for knowledge. She's one of many parents who've watched their children suffer after vaccinations. You blindly believe that pharmaceutical companies/their lobbiests have only Americans' health in mind and don't consider profit when it comes to vaccine safety/effectiveness.
Miss McCarthy should not reproduce?!Compared to you?! She's done a great deal of research and experienced vaccine reactions and autism first-hand. Have you?

I wish I could give u 1000 thumbs up. I too have been affected by autism - as an infant, my cousin (Alex) was developing just fine and once he began the rounds of required vaccines, he slipped further and further back. So u can guess the rest - he was recently diagnosed on the autism spectrum - I'd love to lobatomize the sorry fucks that are responsible for all of the shit he and his caregivers will endure...and to think it could have been prevented....Piss on big pharma.
Who would you like to injure if your child suffered permanent brain damage from measles, or was cripled by polio, or died from another vaccine-preventable illness?
The people responsible would be much, much easier to identify. Not nearly as ambiguous as "Big Pharma".
Millions of children are vaccinated at the age when autism is usually first observed and diagnosed.
What would you expect to see IF vaccines did NOT cause autism? Some children would develop symptoms within a few weeks, days, or even hours of being vaccinated, PURELY BY CHANCE. Do you agree? This is just math.
I sympathise somewhat with McCarthy's motivations, but this is really frustrating for public health people (like me). There is the potential for real harm here.
MMR did used to contain a tiny bit of thimerosal, I believe. That being said, there was never any good reason to think it was dangerous. Fearmongering, then as now.
See, that's the difference between generally reasonable people who value intellectual honesty and those like McCarthy: you admit when you're wrong and reevaluate your position. People like her treat their positions religiously: "If the evidence is contradictory to my position, the evidence must be wrong."
That it did. And the concern for safe vaccines is a valid one. They *should* be safe. The problem here is that after looking into that concern and finding that evidence doesn't add up, the need to simplify what looks complex and scary takes priority over helping people in the present.
Sure, no problem. It's not unreasonable to be concerned about the stuff we put into our bodies--vaccines or otherwise. I just think that since studies have found no link between MMR and vaccines, it's time to move on.
Unfortunately it's part of human nature to look for a tangible, concrete way of explaining things when they're scared. In this case, parents are frightened because they don't know how to react to their autistic children-- so they blame vaccines.
This sounds like a self correcting problem. Dumb people who reproduce will raise their children in a stupid, dangerous, manner will have higher child mortality rates and when those mis-educated, ignorant, dumb children grow up they will die faster. All in all, they'll reproduce less successfully and stupid themselves right out of the gene pool. I'm willing to let this problem solve itself in an entertaining fashion.
I love your talent for expression, and I almost entirely agree with the point you're making. My only caveat is a very general one and it's that science has an unnerving tendency to correct itself, and research is often funded by a person or entity with a 'fact' they're looking to prove. Now, I'm not challenging any assertion of the facts on autism, just making a general statement against the flaws in the people and agendas that lead to scientific conclusions. McCarthy is, of course, off her nut.
While it's absolutely true that in science, all knowledge is provisional, it's frequently safe to close off avenues of research that have nothing left to offer (in this case, the idea that autism is not neurological and can be cured by diet).
Ask your doctor? They only know what the pharmaceutical inserts tell them re- vaccines. With our medical system it's important for us to take responsibility and do our own research as well. The FACTS are that most vaccinations still contain aluminum and mercury. May not cause autism, but certainly not healthy for infants. Read "The Vaccine Book", by Dr. Sears.
Is that so? Funny, when I taught medical students the vaccination schedule I got my information from the public health agency of canada. I suppose Big Pharma also runs our public health system, eh?
PS - Capitalizing words DOESN'T make them true.
PPS - Descend, Pharyngulites, and slay these slobbering simpletons.
My point is that Public Health Agency of Canada and most ped / family doctors get their information re- vaccinations safety and effectiveness from the company that produces them. Why are you making this sound like a conspiracy? Where did you think they got the info...from their own independent lab analysis of the drugs? Unless a doc takes initiative to do own research, most have minimal info on vaccines (except they are safe and effective). Education is focused on diseases they prevent.
The Public Health Agency of Canada actively monitors adverse reactions to vaccines. So do the WHO, CDC, etc etc.
Why am \I\ making this sound like a conspiracy? You've just stated that MDs and public health bodies are nothing more than mouthpieces for the drug companies, and you ask why I'm making this sound like a conspiracy??? THAT WOULD BE A CONSPIRACY!
Btw, I am only a 'simpleton' trainer / coach, so I will defer to your expertise as an MD... but even you should agree that Health Canada, your doctor, and pharmaceutical 'safety' research has very often been misleading, and that it is not a bad idea to look at all 'legitimate' information available to make an educated decision. Most drugs are deemed 'safe' due to an 'acceptable' risk associated with it. We need to know what they think is acceptable.
I'm not an MD. I'm an epidemiologist, part of the vast network of reasearchers that monitor drug/vaccine safety, disease outbreaks, and other public health concerns. Your characterization of medicine is totally off base, and you're actively spreading misinformation about an important public health tool. The information you're relying on is not legitimate. It is wrong.
"What is your evidence that diet plays a major role in disease prevention?"... Is that a serious question? Come on. RE- the "misinformation" I'm being fed... I won't argue with you b/c I hope you're correct, but we'll wait and see. Hind-sight is 20-20. Btw, I don't think there's intentional 'poisoning' going on here at all... I just question how fair/unbiased the research of it's safety is. Sorry.
Yes, it is a serious question. For which diseases is diet a major cause? All of them? What fraction of incidence could be prevented? How reliable is the evidence? Is dietary change a cost effetive way to improve health? Is dietary advice superior to other interventions?
Get the idea? Real medicine and medical research is hard, and much more sophisticated than you seem to realize.
I agree that people should do research rather than blindly accepting information presented to them, but a doctor becomes a doctor by essentially doing research for the better part of a decade. It seems a somewhat spurious notion to disregard their body of knowledge.
I understand your point (and thanks for acknowledging mine, unlike pdema), but although doctors are VERY well educated, it's a mistake to assume they are experts in health or all areas of disease prevention. In fact, most doctors receive minimal education in nutrition, for example... and I would argue that diet plays a MAJOR role in disease prevention! Instead MOST (not all) would sooner medicate than "prescribe" diet & lifestyle change (ie- for diabetes, Hypertension, heart disease, arthritis)
You must have never met any of my doctors or the doctors I've met online.
Seems to be a lot of people who won't listen to their doctor telling them to eat more fruits and vegetables as well as exercise more, but when some retro newage (rhymes with sewage) hippie tells them to, they'll do it... Except they'll eat the wrong vegetables, like indigestible wheatgrass, or pop suppliments from Big Altie.
Ya, I agree that even if a doctor was to recommend nutritional changes, it's seldom followed... thus medication becomes necessary to sustain life. And I know that there is alot of crap being circulated as "alternative research"... but I still believe it's our job as consumers / patients to do our own research before taking drugs or under-going medical interventions. It's great that you've had such luck with doctors, but I would never use one physician as my sole source of reference.
One problem: Nutrition isn't magical like some fans claim it is. A healthy diet isn't a panacea or a universal preventative. Some things just can't be fixed so easily.
But you are spot on about needing to perform research as patients. Unfortunately, there are many people who won't follow proper research methods, like those who won't follow dietary guidelines. I've run into too many "Google scholars" who think popularity of a link is evidence. That's a big argument for more science education.
True... it's too bad our society isn't really set up to create good 'learners'; mostly good 'followers'. Science education would certainly help... or even teaching school children decision making skills, critical thinking, and intelligent information gathering, (which I suppose scientific method would cover).
Fine, but it can be hard to interpret the research zithout a fair bit of training. Plus it can be hard to tell good sources from bad.
Have you heard of the Cochrane Collaboration? It's an international volunteer group that summarizes the evidence on medical intervenions (like vaccines). They publish all their materials free online, they take to money whatsoever from special interests (eg Pharma), and they give lay summaries of all reports.
No, I wasn't familiar with this. Thanks for the info. I understand your frustration with my opinion (which many share), but I'm not trying to be a dick. I honesty want to learn more about this issue... I just want to know both sides.
Okay, I'm a public health minded guy, and I'm with you 100 percent on the prevention before cure thing. But since you so rightly pointed out that one shouldn't accept arguments from authority;
What is your evidence that diet plays a major role in disease prevention? Are dietary and lifestyle changes more effective in practice than medication for the diseases you listed? Would it be ethical not to medicate, say, diabetics if it had been shown that medication prevented deaths?
Very, very tiny amounts when they do have them. You probably get more aluminum in you from all the metal you touch in a day than from any vaccine.
As for mercury (the same principles apply with milk and fish, which is pretty healthy most of the time), there's a difference between a mercury and a mercury compound. The mercury militia just sweeps that under the rug.
More on dose makes the poison: Alties want you to think humans are just toasters with a couple of on/off switches: All or nothing.
McCarthy's science advisor, Dr. Jay Gordon, now says vaccines don't contain anti-freeze or ether. He also admits that formaldehyde is a product of single carbon metabolism, and the amount of formaldehyde in childhood vaccines is dwarfed by the amount found in a banana.
But none of that matters, since McCarthy is listening to her gut. Nice work!
America = Hollywoodland

This muppet/puppet reminds me so much of brain-washed morons in white coats we know as doctors. Their lips move but their brain is not engaged. There are some notable exceptions of course: doctors who have woken up to the fact that they have been turned into accomplices in this organised criminal enterprise sold to a mostly unsuspecting public as "disease prevention." What a crock!
vaccineshurtbabies 2 years ago

Even the BMJ has published an article to point out that the CDC's flu death figures are pure imagination, because the CDC's own statistics show that the real number of flu deaths is a fraction of the CDC's claimed number of 36,000 annual flu deaths.
vaccineshurtbabies 2 years ago
It's funny that your kind embraces statistics when it's about the number of children who died of vaccinations or increase in autistic children - but when statistics show something you don't like it's suddenly "a conspiracy"! Well guess what - in Western countries causes of death have been meticulously documented for a very long time (in Victorian England every single death since 1837) and at that time there was no evil International Pharmaceutical companies. So please cut the crap.

It's becoming more and more obvious that there are people who are paid to post comments on the internet. The evidence that vaccines cause autism is overwhelming. The mechanism is known. Read up on "cytokine storm" and the argument that mercury is safe will fall flat on its face.

If I get bit by a Cobra I do not get autism from it. wialco59 2 years ago
It's a matter of DOSAGE. Mercury is only toxic in when received in a particular amount. The amount of mercury in the average vaccination program is less than 1/1000 of the toxic amount.
DWP102589 2 years ago
Nevertheless, I remain skeptical of the efficacy of most vaccines e.g. polio was dying when the so-called antidote was introduced.
I think that much of the vaccinations are more for special interest profits than the arrest or deterrence of disease. On that idea I do agree with Carry and McCarthy.
"Science" is so politicized it's difficult to tell which test results are unbiased e.g. "scientific" reports that claim Marijuana use is addictive change the established definition of addiction.
wialco59 2 years ago 2
Vaccines are actually the smallest part of medical profits, and are in fact the LAST thing that Big Pharma wants you to take; because you won't need to take medicine and drugs, which is where the REAL money is.
DWP102589 2 years ago
"Vaccines are actually the smallest part of medical profits"
It's nevertheless a multi-billion dollar racket, but you're right, the medical-pharmaceutical mafia makes far greater profits from other sources, such as the drugs and other treatments used to treat the wide-spread harm vaccines cause.
vaccineshurtbabies 2 years ago

DWP102589 2 years ago
BS. Before mercury was removed from most vaccines, the cumulative total injected into children far exceeded the amount of mercury deemed accetable by EPA standards. No wonder autism cases went through the roof.
vaccineshurtbabies 2 years ago
First of all: there is NO EVIDENCE that mercury, either by itself or with other factors, can cause autism. Just so you'll know, I have autism and I'm damn glad to have it, as it's a part of my life and who I am.
Second of all: ALMOST ANY SUBSTANCE can be toxic when received in a particular amount, sugar, caffeine, fat, alcohol, salt. Even before mercury was removed from vaccines, it posed no threat was just removed to appease the EPA's unreasonable standards
DWP102589 2 years ago

The whole world will be a much better place if you and every single anti-vaccine asshole would just catch every disease known to man and die in agony.

Jenny McCarthy is probably out for publicity. She claimed that Evan was diagnosed within 5 minutes. In reality, it takes weeks or even months to officially diagnose. She can't take the heat of parenthood and she hadn't had any views since she quit being a playmate.

Yup its about her... and her boy toy who follows her..Jenny is a nacissicistic fraud.

My son was sleeping (a coping mechanism) when the Developmental Pediatrician ran the diagnostic checklist. It took maybe 15-20 minutes to "get the diagnosis". The process of ruling things out took more like a year.

You sound just like one of her "warrior mommies" when you said "FACTS BE DAMNED, JENNY MCCARTHY IS A HERO AND I SALUTE HER!!!"
They are just as delusional as she is.

Goetia78 3 years ago
Who would you like to injure if your child suffered permanent brain damage from measles, or was cripled by polio, or died from another vaccine-preventable illness?
The people responsible would be much, much easier to identify. Not nearly as ambiguous as "Big Pharma".
pdema030 3 years ago
Millions of children are vaccinated at the age when autism is usually first observed and diagnosed.
What would you expect to see IF vaccines did NOT cause autism? Some children would develop symptoms within a few weeks, days, or even hours of being vaccinated, PURELY BY CHANCE. Do you agree? This is just math.
I sympathise somewhat with McCarthy's motivations, but this is really frustrating for public health people (like me). There is the potential for real harm here.

Google doesn't count as a credible source. It's a search engine. She doesn't state any other source besides "Google."

topformfitness, you commented on thimerosal and aluminum in vaccines. One of the big ones that Ms. McCarthy blaims is the MMR.
The MMR vaccine has been around since 1971 and has never contained either aluminum or thimerosal(which has been removed from all pediatric vaccine).
Measles is not "mild", out of 1000 cases 1 will die, and a few will be permanently disabled. What nutrition prevents it?
cnhaynes57 3 years ago 2
MMR did used to contain a tiny bit of thimerosal, I believe. That being said, there was never any good reason to think it was dangerous. Fearmongering, then as now.
pdema030 3 years ago
No, it never did. It is a live virus vaccine that comes as a dry powder that needs to be mixed with sterile water and used within eight hours.
cnhaynes57 3 years ago 3
You're right, I had it confused with hep B. Thanks.
pdema030 3 years ago
See, that's the difference between generally reasonable people who value intellectual honesty and those like McCarthy: you admit when you're wrong and reevaluate your position. People like her treat their positions religiously: "If the evidence is contradictory to my position, the evidence must be wrong."
*face/palm*
AshillaBeige 3 years ago 2
That it did. And the concern for safe vaccines is a valid one. They *should* be safe. The problem here is that after looking into that concern and finding that evidence doesn't add up, the need to simplify what looks complex and scary takes priority over helping people in the present.
Stellabard985 2 years ago
No, I was wrong, thimerosal was never used in the MMR vaccine.
I don't understand your comment. Can you restate it?
pdema030 2 years ago
Sure, no problem. It's not unreasonable to be concerned about the stuff we put into our bodies--vaccines or otherwise. I just think that since studies have found no link between MMR and vaccines, it's time to move on.
Unfortunately it's part of human nature to look for a tangible, concrete way of explaining things when they're scared. In this case, parents are frightened because they don't know how to react to their autistic children-- so they blame vaccines.
Does that make more sense?
Stellabard985 2 years ago
Yes it does, and I agree with you.
pdema030 2 years ago
This sounds like a self correcting problem. Dumb people who reproduce will raise their children in a stupid, dangerous, manner will have higher child mortality rates and when those mis-educated, ignorant, dumb children grow up they will die faster. All in all, they'll reproduce less successfully and stupid themselves right out of the gene pool. I'm willing to let this problem solve itself in an entertaining fashion.

"[R]research is often funded by a person or entity with a 'fact' they're looking to prove."
And generally needs to be replicated by independent people or under what are supposed to be very tight observation by groups like the FDA.
Alties, when you read behind the lines, are always pushing for deregulation of human experimentation.
TheBronzeDog 3 years ago 3
I love your talent for expression, and I almost entirely agree with the point you're making. My only caveat is a very general one and it's that science has an unnerving tendency to correct itself, and research is often funded by a person or entity with a 'fact' they're looking to prove. Now, I'm not challenging any assertion of the facts on autism, just making a general statement against the flaws in the people and agendas that lead to scientific conclusions. McCarthy is, of course, off her nut.
CanadianNinjaMonkey 3 years ago
While it's absolutely true that in science, all knowledge is provisional, it's frequently safe to close off avenues of research that have nothing left to offer (in this case, the idea that autism is not neurological and can be cured by diet).
mrhogg 3 years ago
Completely agree. Happy Saturday!
CanadianNinjaMonkey 3 years ago
Ask your doctor? They only know what the pharmaceutical inserts tell them re- vaccines. With our medical system it's important for us to take responsibility and do our own research as well. The FACTS are that most vaccinations still contain aluminum and mercury. May not cause autism, but certainly not healthy for infants. Read "The Vaccine Book", by Dr. Sears.
topformfitness 3 years ago
Is that so? Funny, when I taught medical students the vaccination schedule I got my information from the public health agency of canada. I suppose Big Pharma also runs our public health system, eh?
PS - Capitalizing words DOESN'T make them true.
PPS - Descend, Pharyngulites, and slay these slobbering simpletons.
pdema030 3 years ago 4
My point is that Public Health Agency of Canada and most ped / family doctors get their information re- vaccinations safety and effectiveness from the company that produces them. Why are you making this sound like a conspiracy? Where did you think they got the info...from their own independent lab analysis of the drugs? Unless a doc takes initiative to do own research, most have minimal info on vaccines (except they are safe and effective). Education is focused on diseases they prevent.
topformfitness 3 years ago
The Public Health Agency of Canada actively monitors adverse reactions to vaccines. So do the WHO, CDC, etc etc.
Why am \I\ making this sound like a conspiracy? You've just stated that MDs and public health bodies are nothing more than mouthpieces for the drug companies, and you ask why I'm making this sound like a conspiracy??? THAT WOULD BE A CONSPIRACY!
pdema030 3 years ago
Btw, I am only a 'simpleton' trainer / coach, so I will defer to your expertise as an MD... but even you should agree that Health Canada, your doctor, and pharmaceutical 'safety' research has very often been misleading, and that it is not a bad idea to look at all 'legitimate' information available to make an educated decision. Most drugs are deemed 'safe' due to an 'acceptable' risk associated with it. We need to know what they think is acceptable.
topformfitness 3 years ago
I'm not an MD. I'm an epidemiologist, part of the vast network of reasearchers that monitor drug/vaccine safety, disease outbreaks, and other public health concerns. Your characterization of medicine is totally off base, and you're actively spreading misinformation about an important public health tool. The information you're relying on is not legitimate. It is wrong.
pdema030 3 years ago
"What is your evidence that diet plays a major role in disease prevention?"... Is that a serious question? Come on. RE- the "misinformation" I'm being fed... I won't argue with you b/c I hope you're correct, but we'll wait and see. Hind-sight is 20-20. Btw, I don't think there's intentional 'poisoning' going on here at all... I just question how fair/unbiased the research of it's safety is. Sorry.
topformfitness 3 years ago
Yes, it is a serious question. For which diseases is diet a major cause? All of them? What fraction of incidence could be prevented? How reliable is the evidence? Is dietary change a cost effetive way to improve health? Is dietary advice superior to other interventions?
Get the idea? Real medicine and medical research is hard, and much more sophisticated than you seem to realize.
pdema030 3 years ago
Fair enough. Thanks for taking the time to discuss rather than just throw insults as some do. Lata'
topformfitness 3 years ago
I agree that people should do research rather than blindly accepting information presented to them, but a doctor becomes a doctor by essentially doing research for the better part of a decade. It seems a somewhat spurious notion to disregard their body of knowledge.
mrhogg 3 years ago
I understand your point (and thanks for acknowledging mine, unlike pdema), but although doctors are VERY well educated, it's a mistake to assume they are experts in health or all areas of disease prevention. In fact, most doctors receive minimal education in nutrition, for example... and I would argue that diet plays a MAJOR role in disease prevention! Instead MOST (not all) would sooner medicate than "prescribe" diet & lifestyle change (ie- for diabetes, Hypertension, heart disease, arthritis)
topformfitness 3 years ago
You must have never met any of my doctors or the doctors I've met online.
Seems to be a lot of people who won't listen to their doctor telling them to eat more fruits and vegetables as well as exercise more, but when some retro newage (rhymes with sewage) hippie tells them to, they'll do it... Except they'll eat the wrong vegetables, like indigestible wheatgrass, or pop suppliments from Big Altie.
TheBronzeDog 3 years ago
Ya, I agree that even if a doctor was to recommend nutritional changes, it's seldom followed... thus medication becomes necessary to sustain life. And I know that there is alot of crap being circulated as "alternative research"... but I still believe it's our job as consumers / patients to do our own research before taking drugs or under-going medical interventions. It's great that you've had such luck with doctors, but I would never use one physician as my sole source of reference.
topformfitness 3 years ago
One problem: Nutrition isn't magical like some fans claim it is. A healthy diet isn't a panacea or a universal preventative. Some things just can't be fixed so easily.
But you are spot on about needing to perform research as patients. Unfortunately, there are many people who won't follow proper research methods, like those who won't follow dietary guidelines. I've run into too many "Google scholars" who think popularity of a link is evidence. That's a big argument for more science education.
TheBronzeDog 3 years ago 2
True... it's too bad our society isn't really set up to create good 'learners'; mostly good 'followers'. Science education would certainly help... or even teaching school children decision making skills, critical thinking, and intelligent information gathering, (which I suppose scientific method would cover).
topformfitness 3 years ago
Fine, but it can be hard to interpret the research zithout a fair bit of training. Plus it can be hard to tell good sources from bad.
Have you heard of the Cochrane Collaboration? It's an international volunteer group that summarizes the evidence on medical intervenions (like vaccines). They publish all their materials free online, they take to money whatsoever from special interests (eg Pharma), and they give lay summaries of all reports.
pdema030 3 years ago
No, I wasn't familiar with this. Thanks for the info. I understand your frustration with my opinion (which many share), but I'm not trying to be a dick. I honesty want to learn more about this issue... I just want to know both sides.
topformfitness 3 years ago
Okay, I'm a public health minded guy, and I'm with you 100 percent on the prevention before cure thing. But since you so rightly pointed out that one shouldn't accept arguments from authority;
What is your evidence that diet plays a major role in disease prevention? Are dietary and lifestyle changes more effective in practice than medication for the diseases you listed? Would it be ethical not to medicate, say, diabetics if it had been shown that medication prevented deaths?
pdema030 3 years ago

Nice work!
