@kaahaajaFIN They were ill prepared and ill advised, but they fought hard and many died. They listened to their maniacal leader and paid the ultimate price. If I gave you a bolt action rifle on foot and told you to run into a hail of machine gun fire and tanks and superior weapons I wonder how you would do?
@kaahaajaFIN the same reason the USA sucked so hard in Vietnam? Or Britian in Singapore? or the Allies in Gallipoli? or the Germans in Russia? I can go on....
@kaahaajaFIN same reason Britain sicked so hard in Singapore...what 80,000 surrendered? joining up with another 50,000 from other battles.Hush, Hush don't mention out surrender dear chaps.
@clama79 they were not afraid to fight. They fought on more fronts than any other army. They were spread thin and they were not well prepared or advised compared to the other armies. That is why they suffered more casualties.Afraid? They were the aggressors in most of the battles, not the defenders.
@robert1116592 The Italians had very bad equipment. Erwin Rommel, German general and later Marshal, said that Italian soldiers were not cowards, but were led by cowards.
@FGalaxie WW2 did concern Australia, it concerned the hole world. you honestly think that Japan wouldn't have invaded Australia? Of course they would, Australia was fighting the Japanese to secure their freedom and they did so with bravery and courage. It took balls for Australia to face Japan head on, Japan was a major power at the time.
@FGalaxie I admit Gallipoli was a disaster for the allies but Australia fought hard during WW2 and first good reason. They came under direct attack from Japan and you say they had no place fighting the war? And as for battles fought over in Europe, they had every reason to help their European allies, Not just Britain but France as-well.
@goodyoj Only in the pacific theatre they had business to fight.
I wonder if Aussies today would punch on to sign up to fight for the english half a world away.... I would like to think not. But Aus seems to have gone backwards the last few years.
@FGalaxie They helped the U.S. with almost all there wars, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia etc. And they did have reason to fight in Europe and Africa, Hitler had to be stopped or he would have probably taken over the whole world, it was every human being's business. Besides, to declare war with Japan was to declare war with Germany.
The reason people think the Italians are so bad is obvious: British Propaganda. The Italians were far off enough for people not to know how good they were. They couldnt make the Germans look bad, because the Germans were knocking on Britians front door. So they made fun of Germany's closest ally to inspire the people.
@buildingeverything Sure, there were victories. But the Italians were brave, just either Ill-equipped, unwilling to die for Mussolini/Hitler, or bother.
@SpadaccinoLuciano this is true.Typical low blow from the Brits. They had their share of losses and humiliation, but you wouldn't know it or hear and admittance from them. They are still sore that Rome occupied their island for 500 years.Basically brought they from barbarianism to civilization.
As Rommel stated"the Italian was willing, unselfish & good & considering the conditions he served above average. Many Italian Generals & officers often won our admiration both as men & as soldiers, the course of the italian defeat had their roots in poor armaments.."Italy had only1/10 the industrial production of Eng/France.Mussolini was warned about this & that Italy would not be able to field a army for a Euro-type war till 1942.Ethiopia & supporting Franco in Spain further drained resources
I know Admiral mountbatten described Dieppe as a Major Operation. All in All 10,000 Aliied troops(mostly CDN) were involved, including 237 ships & 74 Royal Air Force. Also England was across the sea nearby(I wonder where the support or reinforcements were? Afraid? I don^t know). Only 1,500 germans manned the cliffs.A raid is more of a squadron of let^s say 20-30 men,the above sounds & is a significant attack. The USA to cover its disgrace in Vietnam use to call it a "conflict" not "war".
@sumbarine The official title for the operation was a "Raid" as is clearly identified wherever you source this. There were only a little over six thousand (5,000 Canadians) that landed there, not 10, 000 as you say, liar. At any rate, we had to climb cliffs and the Germans were at the top with heavy machine guns and mortars. You don't need equal numbers if you are at the top of a cliff shooting down at your enemy. But then you know this, you only pick and chose info to support your lies.
@TheLindsman68 Fascist Pig. Do you celebrate and cheer at the loss of Canadian life at Dieppe? We had nearly half our casualties killed or wounded. Now if it was Facist black shirts there it would have been 50 Alpini dead who were brave enough to fight, and the rest would have surrendered. Cowardly fascists, that is your record of World War II!
@TheLindsman68 No way,I don^t cheer the loss of CDN life at Dieppe,I hate Hitler as much as u.However, biased books & the belief that history ogoes from God created man in Genesis to Italy invading Greece is absurd.Jews that fell under Italian occupation(France,Croatia,Greece etc) were not deported by the Italians. There was pressure from Himmler & others but Duce & co wouldn^t submit. Lindsman, your a...how can I say it...Its hard or difficult...uh uh...your a Wanker
@TheLindsman68 Please stop saying whatnots.Italians fought bravely mostly in such hard occasions that canadians (supplied by Allies) could never imagine, do you imagine 40,000 canadians at -60 °C facing outnumbering soviet troops without any weapons than your rifle? At Cheren italians fought so bravely than British stated only German fallschmirjager and Japanese in Burma couldbe compared. At Stalingrad Italians fought incredibly well, withstanding against a far bigger army for several days
@TheLindsman68 Moreover Italians in Greece never had a superiority of 500,000against 300,000, indeed, for many months(from november 1940 till march 1941) we were outnumbered and often outgunned owing to the fact that British supplied Greeks.Italian Navy though inferior fought bravely against superior English Fleet and despite the fact they were able to read our codes. Italian air force fought in huge inferiority for years always withstanding and never falling back,
@TheLindsman68 Italians tank crewmen fought being acknoledged that they couldn't hit allied tanks, however they fought anyway, just to protect their comrades. In Tunisia Italian forces (such as at Mountain Takrouna) got Allied troops(superior in number and weapons) an hard times before falling back and Italians were the last to surrend in Tunisia only following a Mussolini's order (inspite of Germans who surrendered before).
Finally,I don't want to insult Canadians because it would be stupid
@TheLindsman68 and useless, I know how bravely you fought (especially at Falaise or during WWI), yet you do NOT have the right of insulting Italians soldiers who fought as bravely as canadians, always in worse condition than them.
Moreover, it is really stupid and childish to insult to not speak english well, it will be true, it's likely to be, yet at least I and submarine know two languages one of which, our mother language, is considered the nicest language in the world, far better than yours
@TheLindsman68 Those that "Raided" were arond 6,000(incl 1,000British) There were 10,00 overall if u include 237 Ships & 74 RAF squadron.Seems here the british used CDN soldiers as canon fodder.
Now let me tell you about the brave Italians who fought in World War II. Those were not the Fascists, they were the brave Italian partisans who kidnapped Mussolini from the Germans and strung up Mussolini like the fat pig he was!
Hey Lindsnmann I always think of Dieppe when I see see a white flag,& the Germans(overaated & mass murederes) weren^t much at the defense at Dieppe.Pathetic!
@TheLindsman68 Ethiopia 1935---Italian Victory,World War 1---Italian Victory,After the Battle Of Vittorio Veneto where Italy destroyed the Austro-Hungarian army,German General Ludendorf stated "After Vittorio,Austria not only lost the battle, but the war & took Germany down with her,we were hoping to still hold out & fight thru winter(1918),the allies were starting to fatigue",Italo-Turkish war 1912-13. Italian victory. canada---dieppe oops better wait till june 44 till Russians close in onPoland
@sumbarine Ok, great, you openly admit you cannot find one single victory by the Italian military during World War II where Germany did not hold your hand. Not one significant battle. Hey, I taly has made great contributions to the world in so many things. Even great military hardware, but here fighting men . . . not so much.
@TheLindsman68 Albania was a success,d-day involved americans, british, canadians, colonial troops(especially among french english), cassino a battle in italy won in the end by poles, the judgement you apply to italy doesn^t seem to apply to other countries.
@sumbarine Do you really brag about picking on a fourth world nation like Albania? Ethiopia would have kicked your ass if not for the immoral use of chemical weapons by Italy. You are an embarrassment, really.
@TheLindsman68 Dreaming as usual.Kick ass like the USA had in Vietnam ? or its failed invasion of Cuba Bay Of pigs. Your insulting others because Canada has no military record or past.Vimy Ridge was as irrelevant as taking a piss.If Canada couldn^t even secure a port like Dieppe it for sure would not of been able to invade Albania or Ethiopia.Your fiheries round Newfoundland are depleted because you couldn^t chase away foreign countries fishing there.Always dependant on USA
@TheLindsman68 The Germans applied a new warfare Blitzkrieg(invented by a French or italian),they borrowed millions to build armies, they fluked out early wins(small countries mostly)except France. When others got their act together they defeated them easy.Canada would of easily been ran over with a sneeze.Easy to say this or that when they weren^t involved in anything serious war wise, ride on the coattails of others etc. Lichenstein could of freed Holland by that time. Go back to hallucination
@sumbarine Canada was a small nation at that time, I have tried to tell you. If you ever tried to mess with us now, you would be bled white, I assure you.
@TheLindsman68 The Mongolians had 1/10th ofCanada^d pop. but managed to conquer all the way to Hungary.Rome under Augustus did a consensus of citizens(6 million living in Italy since citizenship that fed Rome^e armies were italian) yet they rules & conquered from England to Persia. So what u say doesn^t hold water
@sumbarine Do you know what a faulty analogy is? You are making one and you continue to do so because there is no factual foundation in your argument. Loser.
But even as a small nation we have fought and died where we were, never surrendering on mass like the Italian army? Hallucinations? You are the only one deluded.
@TheLindsman68 At Dieppe they were supported by a large Royal Navy & Air Force.By 5 hours your so called Brave CDNs were ordered to retreat,at least 32 of the 96 aircraft were lost due to accidents rather than german
assault.Pictures of mass surrender say it all. There is no substance in what u say.Canada is like that back up goaltender who rarely sees play. The star goalie & players win the championship, but the back up goalie w little or np play nevertheless claims a stanley cup ring
@TheLindsman68 Canada played a huge role in defeating the German U-boats, had the fourth largest navy by the end of the war, contributed greatly at D-day, in the battle of Britain. Everywhere there is a Canadian soldier there is bravery an honor. The same cannot be said for Fascist Italia.
@FGalaxie I cannot take you seriously. You or your comments. Canada has the respect of the world, Fascists like Musollini have no one' s respect. You are a functionally illiterate fool.
@FGalaxie There is a democrat in office, so the far right is not strong in the USA. The only reason wy the right is strong in Europe is because the economy is poor. In Canada we enjoy a great economy and low unemployment, not like poor Italy, so there is no room for Fascists. Fascism rose during the twenties and thirties, but then you don't know history, and haven't learned from it.
@TheLindsman68 The far right is very srong in the USA, it is by essence a right wing nation, even the Democrats would be a right wing party in many other countries.
Canada is next to USA, be careful when you sleep next to the religous nut, warped fascism elephant, if it rolls over you may get squished.
If Italian troops were so bad? why were they praised by Rommel, Churchil and Stalin.
Give it a break pal. Call us when Canada is independant and not under the thumb of German/Greek royals.
@FGalaxie Well what army wasnt praised in WW2? Even Finnish soldiers was praised by Roosenvelt,Stalin,Himmler and Hitler. Almost every army was praised in WW2. Croatian soldiers were praised by Hitler.
@puju1234 Italians soldiers were praised by Rommel, and I'm sure by Mussolini too. Hitler praising something really only said that whatever he was praising at the moment was working to his advantage. If the Finnish soldiers did poorly against the Russians, Hitler would be damning them all to Hell for eternity in some fiery infernal speech, and all the Germans would have to salute his radio broadcast or be shot.
@YambidiBlamBlam Well they wasnt only praised by Hitler. Also Stalin praised Finnish army and SS-General Felix Steiner praised Finnish SS-Soldiers.
You shouldnt take it too seriously. Canadian and Australian soldiers were praised too. It doesnt mean your soldiers are good. But it does make your army bad when 115 000 soldiers surrenders to 36 000 British soldiers.
@puju1234 Brit got tank heavy Matilda, italians only "tuna box" tanks, brit got the navy support with heavy artillery, italian didn't have anyone backing them, brit got fast jeep with heavy guns mounted on them, italians got only their feet. In the desert 20 minutes without drinking can kill u, is not just the number of soldiers. More shameful was the defeat of brit in Singapore but none remember it. History is written by the winner !!!!
@Caleidus Those are only excuses, "what if" what if". Be glad your country had that good weapon technology in WW2.
Finland had 32 tanks and Soviet Union had 3000 tanks. We had 114 aircrafts when Soviet Union had 3800 aircrafts. So stop speaking about unfair fights.
@Caleidus This is true.British propoganda that has stuck the test of time.Italians fought valiantly. They were not the best equipped army, not were they advised well, nor did they even have a good reason to fight other than the hubris of delusional Mussolini, but they had heart. They do not get the credit they deserve. The British never advertise their humiliating losses, but point out the losses of others it seems.
@TheLindsman68 Obviously only at the end of the war, nowhere near the time of Dieppe. If they captured the town & held it shortly,I would agree. However, they attaked by surprise, had significant air & navy cover,no main terrain obstacles & failed massively. Proof is in the pudding !!!
@sumbarine Proof is in the pudding? What? Did you read that in an English for dummies book? Look, it was a "raid" not a major battle or attack. It was not a major surprise as coastal boats had been tipped and advised of the coming attack, so they were prepared. Why do you keep bringing Dieppe up? Because it's the only flaw in Canada's military history? While in Fascist Italy there are no signs of success?
@TheLindsman68 The Ethipians were armed and broke the rules of war first by using espanding or Dum dum bullets. Gas? not much used at all and no way to control it. read up.
When have Cadians fought and not been cannon fodder for the English? ever?
@TheLindsman68 Successful invasion of British somaliland(no German help),Succesful invasion of Egypt,No Defeat in Greece(bogged down still fighting)when reinforced by Italian reserves since they were outnumbered succesful counterattack. When Germans attacked Greece, there army was mostly worn out & facing the Italians, succesful invasion of Croatia, succesful(hard at first) invasion of South Of France. General graziani did not want to invade Egypt because his army wasn^t ready.
@sumbarine Britain essentially withdrew its forces after inflicting 10 to 1 casualties on the Italians. According to Wavell, it was a textbook withdrawal. Less than a year later they re-occupied this area without much trouble. Not much of a victory.
@TheLindsman68 At Gazzala however Rommel & most of his Italian troops(trento, trieste etc) soundly defeated the British though they were outnumbered 2 to 1
@TheLindsman68 In Greece the outnumbered italians had no Air or Navy support(thanks idiot Mussolini for throwing us into battle despite warnings Italy won^t be prepared till 42) but at Dieppe you had major Navy & Air Support, yet within 5 hours you ordered retreat & got slaughtered. Over 60 % casualties, lost 33 landing craft & 1 destroyer,at least 32 out of 96 aircraft were lost by accidents(incompetence). what u say has no substance. History of armies & countries didn^t start in 1940.Regards
@sumbarine It is a historical fact that Italy outnumbered the Greek in military terms by 500, 000 to less than 300, 000. Greece had no tanks and hardly any air cover, still the Italian military was thrown back into Albania and could not recover without German help. Embarrassing. Among the worst in military history. Why do you live in Canada anyways if you hate it so much? Go back to your beloved bankrupt Italia, we don't need you.
@TheLindsman68 Incorrect there was in the beginnng 250,000 greeks vs 150,000 italians.Eventually they came to par Fighting in the mountains in poor weather is different than landing in Dieppe with Air & Navy cover(unlike the Italians who had neither in Greece),Italy fought & never surrendered to greeks. There is a town in Newfoundland called Bona Vista(italian for lovely sight). That^s what John Cabbot(Giovanni Cabotto) a Italian explorer said when sailing for England--- he discovered Canada !
Successful invasion of France? Of Egypt? What do you mean they crossed the border. According to Italian foreign minister Ciano "Mussolini is quite humiliated because our troops have not made a step forward." in reference to the French Campaign. Italian troops were shockingly defeated in Egypt, Graziani was a joke. Even the British were surprised how quickly they retreated.
@TheLindsman68 As British Sir Aex Cadogan of British Foreign office stated"Our soldiers are pathetic amateurs...Our Army is mockery of the world" After surrender of 100,000 brits to Japs at Singapore w hardly a fight.Brits outnumbered japs 4 to 1. Graziani told Mussolini his army was not ready.Ciano told Mussolini the army was not ready.Italian war minister stated it would not be till 42 before Italy would be ready. The advance into Somalia had no supply route
And once again, you use the example of picking on a tiny third world country like Yugoslavia, and only with Hungary's help. What a couple of backstabbers. Embarrassing.
Usa--asses kicked big time in Vietnam, failed invasion of small Cuba ---bay of pigs disaster.Succesful only in WWII because the Siviets destroid more than 80% of Nazi forces. Brits--300,00 running scared at dunkirk, booted out of France,Norway,Crete.200,00 surrender to smaller Jap force at singapore.Canada alone--the Dieppe raid, totally inept & wiped out.Mussolini was warned that Italy was not ready for war(not until 42),seeing German victories he thought it would be over soon & enjoy the spoils.
@sumbarine USA soldiers in Vietnam--some had written on their hemut"F*** the USA),most units were overrun at the 68 Tet offensive, unlike Italy in WII,USA was prepaed for war.Britain carefully avoided war with Napoleon in his prime sending $ & mercenaries to do their fighting. The slaughter of Brits by Zulos in Battle in Africa & there disastrous looss at battle of new orleans with superior #s makes me know why.Wellington was a Irishman(Napoleon was icorsican of Italian stock),Pathetic record!
He himself commanded the 7,000 Italians at the mountain fortress of Amba Alagi. With his water supply compromised, surrounded, and attacked by 9,000 British and Commonwealth troops and more than 20,000 Ethiopian irregulars, the Duke of Aosta surrendered Amba Alagi on 18 May 1941. Due to their gallant resistance, the British awarded him and his men a surrender with military honors.
With supplies running low and with no chance of re-supply, the Duke of Aosta opted to concentrate the remaining Italian forces into several strongholds: Gondar, Amba Alagi, Dessie, and Gimma. (continue on next post)
In January 1941, the British launched a counter-invasion and the Italians went on defensive in East Africa. The Italians fought stubbornly throughout February. But, after fierce resistance, the Battle of Keren ended in Italian defeat[4], the rest of Eritrea, including the port of Massawa, fell quickly. On 31 January, the Duke of Aosta reported that the Italian military forces in East Africa were down to 67 operational aircraft with limited fuel. (continue on next post)
(continued) The more mobile German units naturally plugged the holes punched in the Axis line by the British, who overran the 382nd German Regiment, as well as parts of Trieste and Sabratha on 11 July. But the Italians also sealed their own breaches and, in the south, Trieste and Littorio gave as good an account for themselves as the German units. On 22 July, Trento, Pavia, Brescia, and Ariete accounted for a good part of the 1,400 POWs and 146 tanks lost in an abortive British attack.
Between 10 and 27 July 1942, the Italians were in the thick of the fighting around Tel El Eisa, Ruweisat Ridge, and Miteiriya Ridge with the Sabratha's 1st Battalion 85th Regiment overruning the Australians in the form of 2/48 Battalion on Tel el Eisa and the Trento's 3rd Battalion 62nd Regiment overruning the Australians in the form of 2/32 Battalion on Ruin Ridge. The action of the Italian divisions during the First Battle of El Alamein has been commented upon Professor James J. Sadkovich:
In the Tunisian Campaign, at Kasserine Pass, Mareth, Akarit and Enfidaville, as the North African campaign drew to its close, Italians fought with courage and determination. In fact, it was observed by British Field Marshall Harold Alexander that:
...the Italians fought particularly well, outdoing the Germans in line with them.
Moreover, the Colonial troops, until they cracked at the very end, fought with valour and resolution, and their staunchness was a testimony to the excellence of the Italian administration and military training in Eritrea. (Sir Comptom Mackenzie - North Africa WW2)
The unfortunate licence of wartime propaganda allowed the British Press to represent the Italians almost as comic warriors; but except for the German parachute division in Italy and the Japanese in Burma no enemy with whom the British and Indian troops were matched put up a finer fight than those Savoia battalions at Keren.
Keren was as hard a soldiers' battle as was ever fought, and let it be said that nowhere in the war did the Germans fight more stubbornly than those [Italian] Savoia battalions, Alpini, Bersaglieri and Grenadiers. In the [first] five days' fight the Italians suffered nearly 5,000 casualties — 1,135 of them killed. Lorenzini, the gallant young Italian general, had his head blown off by one of the British guns. He had been a great leader of Eritrean troops. (continued on next post)
@lello5 Please note the Italian forces were reinforced by local hardy Eritreans who are known to hard warriors, not like cowardly Italians. Hey, who am I : "ayyyyy, Ayeya surrender uh" That's right, your typical wop soldier.
@TheLindsman68 And who do you think trained those Eritreans soldiers? Again, my lowly sales rep, your pseudo-intellect betrays you. You continue to fail in thinking your answers through making your stupidity that much more concerning. I see you like rugby, maybe put a helmet on next time you're on the pitch. Though your brain damage already appears irreparable, you should still take good care of your noggin. But then again, can any more damage even really be done. Ha!
@FGalaxie The Canadian soldier has done nothing but fought bravely and skillfully and spearheaded some of the key battles of WWI and WWII. We've always taken down more than we've had casualties as opposed to . . . some other nations.
@FGalaxie Dude, if you can't spell you should really give it up . . . so tell me please, why were 200, 000 of Italy's best troops slaughtered on the eastern front? How did that concern Italy? Russia was never going to invade you. Canada has a long standing alliance with the POMs so we honored that. Better than being Nazi Germany's lackey.
@TheLindsman68 That^s baloney.Canadian soldiers fought in a small restrictive way.If Canada had to field a major army on a major front(not small selected units occasionally used) they would have no chance. Its easy to boast when the Soviet Union(the real victors of WWII) inflicted more than 80% casualyies on the Nazis. If Canada was next to Nazi Germany they would of been overrun easy. Its like Vimy ridge,a small ubattle(Yupee) let^s see Canada front a major war(they couldn^T) can u say USA help
@sumbarine Canada had a population of only 9 million in World War II and committed a million troops to armed forces. At the end of the war we had the world's fourth largest navy. And Italy? Its fleet sunk at
Taranto by a much smaller and obsolete British force. Canada committed as much as we could during
World War II and always do when we need to. There was no restrictive war on our part.
@TheLindsman68 Remember Dieppe, that^s Canada fielding a army by itself what a slaughter that was,Big Success(Not!) Brits booted out of Europe 3x(Dunkirk running for their lives,Norway,Crete). 200,000Brits/australians surrendering to a smaller Jap force in singapore.USA losing to a peasant 3rd world country--Vietnam.Dieppe was a disaster because Canada does not have a good army,a big myth.People in Glass houses shouldn^t throw stones
@sumbarine What's your point? Any nation can lose a battle, but no one does it better than Italy. All this video does is glorify facism and its ideals and I refuse to support it.
"The Italians were willing, unselfish and good comrades in the frontline. There can be no disputing that the achievement of all the Italian units, especially the motorised elements, far outstripped any action of the Italian Army for 100 years. Many Italian generals and officers earned our respect as men as well as soldiers.
Grazie!
t's fair to say that the Italian Army, navy and air force in WW2 was a miserable failure. They were thrown out of East Africa, defeated in Libya by the British and in Albania by the Greeks. They gained very little ground in France before the French surrender. In North Africa Rommel trusted only one or two of the elite divisions, the rest he regarded as useless.
@knutgordon FUNNY,brits ran for their lives 300,000 at DUNKIRK ,were booted out of EUROPE 3X fRANCE,NORWAY,crete).200,000 BRITS SURRENDERED TO A SMALLER jAPANESE FORCE AT SINGAPORE.Do u think sweden would do any better ? Sewden^e contribution to world---Squat,nada,zippo. Italy was not prepared for that war,Mussiolini was warned but believed it would be over soon with Hitler^s early victories
@TheLindsman68 I^ll tell you what happened, the Italian army was outnumbered, when they were reinforced by the Italian military, they threw the Greeks back & participated in a succesful invasion of Greece & Yugoslavia. What happened to Canada at Dieppe ? It is obvious that alone on a front it is worthless
@sumbarine Reinforced by Italians? Reinforced by crack German soldiers who had to divert forces from their planned invasion o Russia, only then was Greece overwhelmed. Because of this delay Germany had to fight a winter campaign in Russia and ultimately lost the war. Poor Germany, chained to a corpse, Italy.
@TheLindsman68 After 6 months tin Russia they suffered over a million casualties prompting the German staff to realize if this continues they will loose the war.Wasting a army at a non strategic place like Stalingrad didn^t help as well as committing atrocities on Russians in mass executions didn^t either. Canadian army has always been a suckfest, they always ridden on USA, & in this cASE rUSSIAN rED aRMY WHO WON wwii
@sumbarine After six months? Six months into the war they were nowhere near Stalingrad, but instead trying to capture Moscow. Salingrad was over a year into the war. You really don't know your history very well do you? I told you, Canada was only a small nation of 9 million during WWII yet they fielded an armed forces totaling a million. Much more impressive when you compare to a much larger nation like Italy. What's a suckfest btw, is that what happens when your mom comes to town?
@TheLindsman68 Read before u write.Six months into the war with russia,1,000,000 German casualties were suffered. The German staff admitted if this continues they will lose the war.The Soviets destroid 75-80 % of the wehrmacht. Notice how useless, hapless, helpless Canada,US & Britain were in the Korean war or USA in Vietnam. The Red Army won that war.
@sumbarine Dude, you can't even write. YOU SAID, after six months into the war they lost a million troops and wasting strength on a non strategic place like Stalingrad."After 6 months they were nowhere near Stalingrad. Sure, they may have lost a million troops by then.
@TheLindsman68 I know they were nowhere near Stalingrad after 6 months.Your interpreting that I said they were in stalingrad within 6 months, that is not true.Let me make it simple---1st 6 months of war in Russia---1,000,000 casualties, latter on in 42,wasting a entire army in a unimportant, non strategic & useless place like Stalingrad. Whoever decided that reveals imcompetence to the highest degree
@TheLindsman68 The italians were outnumbered 2 to 1 in greece. The italian generals asked 3 months to prepare for invasion, idiot Mussolini gave them 12 days.Bogged in the rainy mountains with no air cover or ships. When they were reinforced by more soldiers from Italy, they counter attacked & threw the greeks back.Hitler^s Russian campaign failed because they wasted a army at stalingrad wich had no value. The crappy Lutwaffe couldn^t reach the urals where Russian Industry was moved.A
@sumbarine Outnumbered 2 to 1? What are you reading, or more acurately, what are you smoking. Greece had less than 300, 000 troops compared to over 500, 000 for Italy. It was the Greeks who were outnumbered nearly 2 to 1. No tanks and outnumbered nearly 4 to 1 in aircraft. Still the Italians were routed and the reinforced spring offensive resulted only in a stalemate. Italy was hopeless until the Germans came to her aid, surprise, surprise.
@TheLindsman68 remember, italians weren^t defeated by the greeks. There were problems like the americans getting bogged down at the battle of bulge or the germans at lenningrad.Once the italian military built up enough reserves it successfully counter attacked greece.
@TheLindsman68 More like Germany had nothing much to do in Greece because the Greeks were fighting the italians. When the Germans succeeded they give themselves credit when they failed it was always somebody elses fault.the Germans if you study history made so many amateur blunders in that war. They terrorized the home people(thru mass executions because of race/ideology issues) to compensate for their hidden fears of inadequacy
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Wow, how old are you? Is troll a very bad word in the facist world? Must be. Grow up and get a job kid. That is if you can find one among all the unemployment in Italy.
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Funny, Germany lost World WarII but the allies have nothing but respect for German soldiers, same for Japanese. But the Italians . . . I mean when your greatest military victory is conquering Albania, something is wrong. And when tiny Greece kicks your ass you really have troubles.
@ThePUSSYman68 You and your Can-eh-dians are a bunch of followers! Where England goes, you follow! Where the US goes, you follow! Even when it's up your ass!! Baaaaaahhhhh!!! @TheLindsman68 Funny didn^t 300,000 Brits run for their lives at Dunkirk ? 200,000 Brits surrender to a smaller Japanese force at singapore? Do you think Britain if attached to mainland Europe would of stood a chance in 1940 or Canada for that matter.Where did Canada front a major offensive in WWII. The Soviets won that war by destroying most German divisions. What woild Britain & Canada do without USA & Soviet Union in WWII,absoloutely nothing. Brits Booted out of France,Norway & Crete. Crappy!
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Well thankfully the Italian resistance gave their head a shake and turned on Mussolini and his mistress, killing them both. I guess some Italian people knew better. Hey if you are such a proud Italiano, why are you listed as being from Portugal.
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Well its hard to know these things. You have to search very hard in history to find examples of modern Italy's military success. I will agree that Austria by that period was a weak power and a good match for equally weak Italy. It was kind of a battle of two losers which Italy won with the help of her allies in France, England, and the USA.
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Nearly all the Italian troops sent to Russia were casualties. At least try to be accurate. There are no examples where Italians stood and fought for any period of time, in the end they became casualties, were captured or killed, their military record of success is poor at best.
@TheAfricanWarrior281 The cradle of civilization is in the middle east, the land between to rivers, not Italy. Every word you speak exposes your ignorance.
@TheLindsman68 Wrong asshole,It was Rome that inluenced the western world.60% of English is Latin based, the alphabet is latin based,Plumbing, cement, etc. The Renaissance was born in italy with Europe still being in the dark.Greatest Generals were Italian(Caesare,Napoleon),Soldiers of Rome were italian--a special territory of Rome.Notice how canad got it up the ass at Dieppepe. That^s the CDN army when standing alone. What hypocrisy from someone living in a fairy land
@sumbarine Canada only sent a raiding party, not an army you idiot. It was meant to test German defenses and that is what happened. Furthermore, Corsica does not equal Italy and Napoleon was not Italian. Lastly, I do not debate in Italian because I cannot speak it. Similarly, your writing in the English language is poor at best, it translates as crude rhetoric and you should really give it up.
@TheLindsman68 Napoleon was indeed Italian.Corsica was owned by Genoa for 500 years & spoke Italian in his native Corsica, after all it was Italian in ethnicity. His roots are from mainland Italy. He was of Italian nobilty. The French would mock him sometimes cause he spoke broken French with a Italian accent. His name was Napoloeone di Bounaparte.Look it up
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Facism is facism you fucking retard. The fact you don't know the difference indicates how close your country is to repeating the same mistakes. Shame on you. Try speaking to your grandparents about what the war was like and see what they have to say about Facism. I bet Italian Pizza is great, I hope to try it some day.

It took balls for Australia to face Japan head on, Japan was a major power at the time.

@FGalaxie I admit Gallipoli was a disaster for the allies but Australia fought hard during WW2 and first good reason. The reason people think the Italians are so bad is obvious: British Propaganda. The Italians were far off enough for people not to know how good they were. They couldnt make the Germans look bad, because the Germans were knocking on Britians front door. So they made fun of Germany's closest ally to inspire the people.

The USA to cover its disgrace in Vietnam use to call it a "conflict" not "war".
sumbarine 6 months ago

At Cheren italians fought so bravely than British stated only German fallschmirjager and Japanese in Burma couldbe compared. At Stalingrad Italians fought incredibly well, withstanding against a far bigger army for several days
KSMBT4ever 3 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Moreover Italians in Greece never had a superiority of 500,000against 300,000, indeed, for many months(from november 1940 till march 1941) we were outnumbered and often outgunned owing to the fact that British supplied Greeks.Italian Navy though inferior fought bravely against superior English Fleet and despite the fact they were able to read our codes. Italian air force fought in huge inferiority for years always withstanding and never falling back,
KSMBT4ever 3 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Italians tank crewmen fought being acknoledged that they couldn't hit allied tanks, however they fought anyway, just to protect their comrades. In Tunisia Italian forces (such as at Mountain Takrouna) got Allied troops(superior in number and weapons) an hard times before falling back and Italians were the last to surrend in Tunisia only following a Mussolini's order (inspite of Germans who surrendered before).
Finally,I don't want to insult Canadians because it would be stupid

With his water supply compromised, surrounded, and attacked by 9,000 British and Commonwealth troops and more than 20,000 Ethiopian irregulars, the Duke of Aosta surrendered Amba Alagi on 18 May 1941.

The unfortunate licence of wartime propaganda allowed the British Press to represent the Italians almost as comic warriors; but except for the German parachute division in Italy and the Japanese in Burma no enemy with whom the British and Indian troops were matched put up a finer fight than those Savoia battalions at Keren.
lello5 1 year ago

TheLindsman68 1 year ago
@TheLindsman68 And who do you think trained those Eritreans soldiers? Again, my lowly sales rep, your pseudo-intellect betrays you. You continue to fail in thinking your answers through making your stupidity that much more concerning. I see you like rugby, maybe put a helmet on next time you're on the pitch. Though your brain damage already appears irreparable, you should still take good care of your noggin. But then again, can any more damage even really be done. Ha!

@TheLindsman68 Whats the typical Canadian soldier done?
Nothing but been cannon fodder for the English in wars halfway around the world, in wars that do not concern them. reallll smart.
FGalaxie 8 months ago
@FGalaxie The Canadian soldier has done nothing but fought bravely and skillfully and spearheaded some of the key battles of WWI and WWII. We've always taken down more than we've had casualties as opposed to . . . some other nations.
TheLindsman68 8 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Alwats cannon fodder for the POMS, whats brave about getting used in wars that dont concern you?
FGalaxie 8 months ago
@FGalaxie Dude, if you can't spell you should really give it up . . . so tell me please, why were 200, 000 of Italy's best troops slaughtered on the eastern front? How did that concern Italy? Russia was never going to invade you. Canada has a long standing alliance with the POMs so we honored that. Better than being Nazi Germany's lackey.
TheLindsman68 8 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Nazi Germany or the UK, both are just as bad as each other.
The Italians were in Russia to fight communism and get lliving space.
Stalin even praised the bravery of the italian troops, the Alpini.
An alliance to get used as cannon fodder, yes ok, just as bad as Aussies.
FGalaxie 8 months ago
@TheLindsman68 That^s baloney.Canadian soldiers fought in a small restrictive way.If Canada had to field a major army on a major front(not small selected units occasionally used) they would have no chance. Its easy to boast when the Soviet Union(the real victors of WWII) inflicted more than 80% casualyies on the Nazis. If Canada was next to Nazi Germany they would of been overrun easy. Its like Vimy ridge,a small ubattle(Yupee) let^s see Canada front a major war(they couldn^T) can u say USA help
sumbarine 7 months ago

@sumbarine Hey, what happened to the Italian army when they tried to invade Greece?
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 I^ll tell you what happened, the Italian army was outnumbered, when they were reinforced by the Italian military, they threw the Greeks back & participated in a succesful invasion of Greece & Yugoslavia. What happened to Canada at Dieppe ? It is obvious that alone on a front it is worthless
sumbarine 6 months ago
@sumbarine Reinforced by Italians? Reinforced by crack German soldiers who had to divert forces from their planned invasion o Russia, only then was Greece overwhelmed. Because of this delay Germany had to fight a winter campaign in Russia and ultimately lost the war. Poor Germany, chained to a corpse, Italy.
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 After 6 months tin Russia they suffered over a million casualties prompting the German staff to realize if this continues they will loose the war.Wasting a army at a non strategic place like Stalingrad didn^t help as well as committing atrocities on Russians in mass executions didn^t either. Canadian army has always been a suckfest, they always ridden on USA, & in this cASE rUSSIAN rED aRMY WHO WON wwii
sumbarine 6 months ago
@sumbarine After six months? Six months into the war they were nowhere near Stalingrad, but instead trying to capture Moscow. Salingrad was over a year into the war. You really don't know your history very well do you? I told you, Canada was only a small nation of 9 million during WWII yet they fielded an armed forces totaling a million. Much more impressive when you compare to a much larger nation like Italy. What's a suckfest btw, is that what happens when your mom comes to town?
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Read before u write.Six months into the war with russia,1,000,000 German casualties were suffered. The German staff admitted if this continues they will lose the war.The Soviets destroid 75-80 % of the wehrmacht. Notice how useless, hapless, helpless Canada,US & Britain were in the Korean war or USA in Vietnam. The Red Army won that war.
sumbarine 6 months ago
@sumbarine Dude, you can't even write. YOU SAID, after six months into the war they lost a million troops and wasting strength on a non strategic place like Stalingrad."After 6 months they were nowhere near Stalingrad. Sure, they may have lost a million troops by then.
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 I know they were nowhere near Stalingrad after 6 months.Your interpreting that I said they were in stalingrad within 6 months, that is not true.Let me make it simple---1st 6 months of war in Russia---1,000,000 casualties, latter on in 42,wasting a entire army in a unimportant, non strategic & useless place like Stalingrad. Whoever decided that reveals imcompetence to the highest degree
sumbarine 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 The italians were outnumbered 2 to 1 in greece. The italian generals asked 3 months to prepare for invasion, idiot Mussolini gave them 12 days.Bogged in the rainy mountains with no air cover or ships. When they were reinforced by more soldiers from Italy, they counter attacked & threw the greeks back.Hitler^s Russian campaign failed because they wasted a army at stalingrad wich had no value. The crappy Lutwaffe couldn^t reach the urals where Russian Industry was moved.A
sumbarine 6 months ago

There were problems like the americans getting bogged down at the battle of bulge or the germans at lenningrad.Once the italian military built up enough reserves it successfully counter attacked greece.
sumbarine 6 months ago
@sumbarine Italy never successfully counter-attacked Greece without German help. That is a historical fact.
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 More like Germany had nothing much to do in Greece because the Greeks were fighting the italians. When the Germans succeeded they give themselves credit when they failed it was always somebody elses fault.the Germans if you study history made so many amateur blunders in that war. They terrorized the home people(thru mass executions because of race/ideology issues) to compensate for their hidden fears of inadequacy

Crappy!

@TheAfricanWarrior281 I have. The renaissance was not solely from Italy dumb dumb but from various parts of Europe including Italy.
TheLindsman68 1 year ago
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Yes, I have heard of the Alpini. They must be from northern Italy where German influence has led to more courageous warriors.
TheLindsman68 1 year ago
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Well its hard to know these things. You have to search very hard in history to find examples of modern Italy's military success. I will agree that Austria by that period was a weak power and a good match for equally weak Italy. It was kind of a battle of two losers which Italy won with the help of her allies in France, England, and the USA.
TheLindsman68 1 year ago
@TheAfricanWarrior281 Nearly all the Italian troops sent to Russia were casualties. At least try to be accurate. There are no examples where Italians stood and fought for any period of time, in the end they became casualties, were captured or killed, their military record of success is poor at best.

sumbarine 7 months ago
@sumbarine Canada only sent a raiding party, not an army you idiot. It was meant to test German defenses and that is what happened. Furthermore, Corsica does not equal Italy and Napoleon was not Italian. Lastly, I do not debate in Italian because I cannot speak it. Similarly, your writing in the English language is poor at best, it translates as crude rhetoric and you should really give it up.
TheLindsman68 6 months ago
@TheLindsman68 Napoleon was indeed Italian.Corsica was owned by Genoa for 500 years & spoke Italian in his native Corsica, after all it was Italian in ethnicity. His roots are from mainland Italy. He was of Italian nobilty. The French would mock him sometimes cause he spoke broken French with a Italian accent. His name was Napoloeone di Bounaparte.Look it up

@TheAfricanWarrior281 You're crazy. Are you trying to say the Italian army even came close to comparing to the Wermacht? In North Africa in 1940 the British were outnumbered by over 100, 000 troops an
