  • Gentlemen,

To who can answer my question, where in the Phils. was GM Angel Cabales from?? I am a big fan of eskrima, and im thinking of going to cebu to learn it from GM there, i was told some of the best are there, and was told eskrima was founded in Cebu..

Hope you can look at some of the footage "Eskrimadors".. was just wondering if GM ANGEL CABALES was from cebu...

    All respects

  • @stugots331 My parents knew GM Angel Cabales in the 70's. Angel would come around my house and have dinner. None of us really knew that he was an escrimador, but he was a family friend. My father and GM Agel would travel from Stockton to Delano and picket with the farmworkers.... anyways, according to my father, GM Angel spoke Ilongo... I believe it's a dialect of Visayan. My father states he is from Ilo-Ilo... He traveled to Cebu to work and practiced escrima...

  • @fightingmink Thanks for answering my question..yes, ilo-ilo is in the visayas.. and by the looks of it GM Angel Cabales would have been the same age as many of the GMs in Cebu, so they might have trainied together.. Ive done alot of research and i think im most definately going to Cebu to learn eskrima..

Just incase you want to see some amazing Eskrima check out "Eskrimadors" documentary, i could only find part1..and check out this supreme GM "Cacoy Canate"..this master is like yoda..Thanks

  • unclebraddah, Your teacher Jesse Abrescy is a good sld man, trained by the best, Manong Dentoy Revillar. Manong Den visits our class now and then and shares. An awesome teacher, great escrimador with a wealth of knowledge, a true master. Dentoy Reviallar is one of a previlege few who trained with most of original masters here in Sockton California. His students are so lucky that they are trained by a living legend in the escrima world.

  • Goshdamme, Go get 'em Carlito. Carlito always gave me hell, but to see Angel and Carlito go at it brings back long forgotton memories. The other person sparring is now sadly passed away as have many of the Escrimadors from this era. Gone but surely not forgotton. I am sitting here with a sad smile on my face. Mabuhay ang Escrima. Thank You for being you Carlito a gentleman and warrior. Master Ron Saturno

  • That is why I call him "BOSS"

    "Mabuhay ang Mata Sa Bagyo!!!!"

  • This is fantastic to see! I look forward to more
