  • LENNY WILLIAMS

  • WOW, truly great!

  • Rick Stevens is the second lead singer(before Lenny) who left the group due to issues with drug use in 1973. His drug use is also what landed him in prison since 75. He killed two drug dealers he owed money to. Hes been trying to get out on parol for some time now and his old bandmates have a petition going to have him freed. Go to bumpcity.com the Tower Of Power Website.

  • This is sooooo goooood!

  • @whiteflag1000 : YES!

  • I loved Lenny but this guy sings really great...

  • Although Lenny Williams was not the original singer for the TOP (there were two before him Ruffus Miller -1970 & Rick Stevens-1970-1973).Lenny Williams is the most reconized lead singer for the group, and his songs (other than You're still a young man",and Down to the night club") are the most performed by the TOP. For the record, there have ten (10) lead singers of the TPO including Lenny.

  • The original singer who was Lenny Williams did NOT kill anyone,it was one of the other singers named Hubert Tubbs (of the Drop It In the Slot LP) that allegededly killded someone!

  • @sosmooth7 Lenny Williams was not the original singer for this group.

  • I'll never tire of this song.....

  • He's no Lenny Williams, but Larry Braggs kicked some butt in this mutha!!

  • @solesirching73 AMEN...HE'S GREAT,SOUNDS LIKE LENNY...THO....

  • yeah this guy is really good...such a great song...cant believe it didnt make it to number 1 on the charts...only 17 I think...wonder what was above it...

  • Rick did this song originally. he did NOt kill any one' he got involved in drugs and the day that shit happened i was there... he did NOT kill any one..

  • It isn't the same singer. If I remember correctly the original singer killed the tenor sax player over a coke deal and is in prison.

  • Yeah the very first guy did, then Lenny Williams took over... a crap ton of people have been the lead singer since. this is Larry L.B. Braggs, current singer.

  • The original singer killed two people... not sure if they were in the band or not...

  • @aKnightInTunisi rick did not,he was involved with drugs, but had nothing to do with the killings// I know he lived with me at the time

  • @huddybuddy according to multiple sources, he was convicted of 3 counts of first degree murder and got life....not sure what it is you're saying but those appear to be the facts...

  • Pretty well amazing. He hasn't lost any of his range over the years!!!

  • I saw them in Shreveport last night, and they are the greatest band I've seen live. Larry is the best soul singer I've heard in my life. If he poured any more soul out of his body, he would die.

  • not bad, LW might be proud.

  • man i love this song!!

  • trying to hard??? please....Larry Braggs is the truth....

  • Singer's got a great voice, but he's over singing, trying too hard. He should sing it straight.

  • oh my good lord, i'm wincing here; this is INCREDIBLE xxx

  • Love this group...going to see them (again) in Vegas in September!

  • The singer is a class act. Closer to Lenny Williams than any other TOP leads..

  • Who is this guy ? He's great !

  • I can't remember his name. It's in the earlier comments somewhere. =)

  • His name is Larry Braggs .

  • @Medic83301 Larry l.b. Braggs !!!

  • @Medic83301 : His name is Larry Braggs , I met him backstage after one of thier concert in Vegas along with my girlfriend who was married to one of the Horn players ( Mike Bogart).

  • Tower always seems to find great singers. Unbelievably this guy is the best I've heard since the original Lenny Williams. Very musical and that killer range. Whoo!

  • The guy can sing. But I miss Lenny Williams.

  • Lindo Duo de Trompetes!

  • Los más son los mayores!

  • There are only four original members...EMILIO CASTILLO - Second Tenor Sax, DAVID GARIBALDI - Drums, FRANCIS ROCCO PRESTIA - Bass, and the "funky doctor" STEPHEN ("DOC") KUPKA - baritone sax

  • Thanks for the clarification, groove4dayz!

    Much appreciated. =D

  • Just one great song...that lead singer has one

fabulous voice...were those original members of the band performing in this song?...

  • I believe the drummer, bassist, guitarist and half of the horn section are original members (incl. DOC). The lead vocalist and the far left two members of the horn section are not original, but they have been with the band for a long time. I'm not sure about the keyboardist.

The key thing is, they are incredible!

    Anyone?

  • funky doctor!

  • One of the best singers ever!!!

  • I agree...he has very strong and soulful vocals!

  • I had hoped to come over from Atlanta and catch this show as TOP rarely makes it to the SE. Thanks for posting!

  • Dang, why would they not go to the SE?

Well anyway, I'm glad I could give you a taste of the recent show.

    Peace~

  • dude thanks for posting na awesome song

  • You're welcome, jimihazel!

This is, IMHO, their best "song" ever. It has a nice melody, and classic a "blue-eyed soul" feel to it.
