@VoJennus Kein Wunder, auf dieselbe Melodie gibts ein Dutzend Kirchenlieder, eben auch "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" von Paul Gerhardt. Und zur Krönung gibts noch je zwei Strophen in der Matthäus- und der Johannespassion vom Johann Sebastian B....

@VoJennus Also: "Breit aus die Flügel beide" ist der Anfang der 8. Strophe von "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" (Paul Gerhardt 1656). Und in den Bach-Passionen sind Strophen aus "O Welt sieh hier dein Leben / am Stamm des Kreuzes schweben" enthalten,ebenfalls von Paul Grhardt (1648): in der Matthäus-Passion erst #5: Ich bin´s, ich sollte büßen" und später #3: "Wer hat Dich so geschlagen ?"; in der Johannes-Passion kommen direkt aufeinander #3 und 4 (Ich, ich und meine Sünden".

Perhaps you didn't know Isaac wrote it in two versions - the Diskantlied (soprano CF, as here), and a Tenorlied (traditional tenor CF)
