I didn't even bother to continue watching when he said, "And here's how it's done..." Saying, "By reading the back of the card, I know the card is such and such.." is not mentalism. It's not even magic.

Another thing: if there ever were a "best mentalism trick ever," it would not require a deck of cards, and you certainly wouldn't try to pretend to be a mentalism while (trying to) perform fancy cuts.

@Brainbust100 I think you're wrong. Magic and mentalism are both fake.. we magicians employ methods to enable us to PRETEND that we are magic or have psychic abilities. This guy's method is actually very good as the method is so easy that it allows you to work on your presentation... therefore convincing your spectators that you really are a mentalist. That's what magic is all about.

The phrase "just by reading the back of your card" just gives the impression that you are using a marked deck, thus robbing this trick of all its power. I notice that you say you were an amateur back then. I hope you've developed your script as much as your sleights.

As a mentalist Chris Angel is not at all close to one of my favorites, but he has commonly brought up a good point I hear brought up by other mentalist who are for the most part mentalists vs magicians, that is if your card manipulation is really awesome vs. a lil sloppy and people may think your some great slight of hand artist, which can greatly down play the reaction of the crowd when you do something that would normally seem pretty amazing.

i believe i invented the greatest mentalism card trick ever lol jk. heres mine: a prediction is made. then a deck of cards is shuffled and cut by the spectator as much as they want. then the cards are put away so the magician can not manipulate them in anyway. a number is named by the spectator. then the deck is taken out and they count down that many cards and that will be the chosen card. then the prediction is shown to be the selected card. :) awesome right, its also the easiest trick ever

I've seen this type of set up deck before. You may have created it for yourself, but its not an original trick.

Decent trick, however: There is NO need to telll everybody that there is no stack being used when there really is. You are bringing way to much attention to yourself by telling everyone there is no stack involved. Laymen don't even know what stacks are, so you are helping them figure out the trick.
