  • This was kind of a stupid scene to start with. They should have let the suspense build to what it looked like till it rose

  • And whoever says that a show like that has its run just think about this: How long and how many different versions of Doctor Who have existed since it's beginning? Why should this not happen to Stargate?

  • They canceled the show becuase in star gate all the religions of our planet were seen as that they were made by the aliens,

    Goulds made the Egyptian gods

    Budhism had the ancient spiritualism

The Nordic gods were made by Asgards

And the Ori religion looked like the christian whith the book and everyone going to hell if they disobey. So meybe sombody sended a mad letter that they make fun of the religion so they canceled it. I think the religious peopel got scared :P.

  • So the ancients came from earth?

  • @Istojataachatearme The Ancients originally evolved in a distant galaxy where they were called the Altera. They came to our galaxy, which they called Avalon, after being forced to leave because of an idealogical divide within their culture. After millions of years they left with Atlantis for the Pegasus galaxy to escape a plague. There, they became known as the Lanteans or simply the ancestors but after the Wraith war, returned to Earth leaving Atlantis behind.

  • One of the cool implications of this scene (it's an awesome scene with some wonderful continuity, including the Antarctica outpost and chair), is that the Ancients didn't build cities, but rather nomadic city-ships. This makes sense when you think about how they began by being on the run from the Ori, leaving their own planet in a giant (very similar scene to this) ship.

The only other ancient city we saw was also a city ship. I like the thought of that "on the run" mentality sticking with them

  • Notice that the girl in the scene is supposed to be the one found in the ice in Antarctica in the Stargate SG-1 episode "Frozen"

  • Comment removed

  • I could use my own city-ship.. ^^

  • is there anyone who can submit this scene with a few additional seconds?

  • @citizengreene Not really... cause this is the entire scene. After the city takes off they cut to present day Antarctica and the expedition team researching the outpost.

  • @citizengreene yep, and the chair behind her kicked anubis' ass :)

  • You know...after a million years of evolution...humans(Tau'ri) faces global warming, food shortages,. earthquakes, ozone depletion etc....have anyone ever wonder what were the Ancient like when they lived on Earth for millions of years? Coz it was theorized by Dr Jackson that from dakara, the ancients made their to Earth millions of years ago and will call Earth home for some time.....meaning millions of years...

  • why do they never finish the story?

  • @COLDWIND8282

Because SyFy channel sucks. And because Stargate started producing episodes where almost half was filled with dramatic music and sad faces I guess...

  • Thank you captain obvious!

  • are there any deck plans for atlantis or any other ancient ships?

  • @aswb there are some minor things, but that's it, you can find it on stargate's wikia page

  • 0:24 omg im in love :)

  • Aiyana is beautiful.....in my opinion...she should be kept alive....and join SG1 as an Ancient rep......among the Tau'ri...which are technically her descendants...and maybe hook up wif Dr Jackson....or Jack....

  • What i dun get is...ok...This scene btwn Aiyana and a male ancient...was ard a few million years ago....fine....then the ancients returned....10,000yrs ago.... btwn that time....did the Ancients already seeded their 2nd Evolution, Human Beings....on Earth before they left for Pegasus? Or did they seed/create their 2nd evolution after they return?

  • @isal3 they seeded the milky way when they left for pegasus.

  • Comment removed

  • is thier two atlantisis one in pegesus as you know and one in the south pole of the earth

  • @Lawrence2061 if anything it would be two 'city ships', as Atlantis is just one city of its class (capital city of the ancient's entire empire / civilization mind you but meh). Atlantis WAS in Antarctica, but this scene shows it leaving for Pegasus. An Outpost from which the city rested upon is left behind if thats what you mean...

  • @Lawrence2061 Accualy I think there are only two and they are both in pegasus....but one is mostly in ruins.....controled by a greedy desendents of the Ancients

  • its ayinna from season 6 she was the frozen ancient

  • the ancients physically where not that far from the ability to ascend, and then the virus would not of mattered, obviously she was taken into account be the ancients who restarted life in the galaxy using the ancient weapon of dakara, remember they could program it to kill specific things, and even create specific things throughout a whole entire galaxy, by way of the stargates on a specific loop which sees them all connected together simultaniously.

  • SG1 called her Ayaiana if i recall but we dont know her real name, she was infected with an extreamly deadly virus which could not be cured from ancients, thou she had the ability to take it away from their human creations. and im guessing that guy was her partner back before Atlantis left her behind, she might even be the reason for them leaving in the 1st place, thou nothing for or against this has been mentioned. such a shame for her really. continued in next post

  • Why do they alway's cancel the good shows

  • @Ameican87eagle This wasn't a good show.

  • yea but did thay not return to earth

  • is that woman on start not looking like the 1 witch thay found frozen on antartica on SG-1

  • @carmangasper it could be as she does look like her, mayb she was left behind to be incharge of that outpost on earth

  • Why didn´t fight back against the others: ori, goaul´d or wraith they always ran away!!??

  • @FANDJGL Because they believed strongly in free will. Fighting the Ori, or telling their followers that the Ori were not gods would deny them their free will, their very essence of self.

  • @0000infinity0000 and so they prefer to become into us (dissapointed!!!!!)???????????

  • @FANDJGL

Ok, you're from Costa Rica, so I'll cut you a break. But please, LEARN SOME DAMN ENGLISH!

  • @0000infinity0000 why are you perfect or ?????

  • @FANDJGL No, but you're not communicating very effectively, which is why I said it.

  • @0000infinity0000 Just a fanciful way of saying "cowards" to me.

  • @gribae

Maybe you're right. Or maybe your definition of coward is too broad. I'm thinking the latter...

  • I find it mad that an advanced race couldnt build a better city or weponry in MILLIONS of years between the time they left and the time they came back, you would think they would have advanced alot more.

  • @ADFcope most likely they just installed newer technology but also you need to remember that at this stage the ancients where one of the few sentient races in the universe which and when you don't need new technology to survive you generally don't waste time in researching it

  • she got left behind or she chose to be behind is because she carried a plague that killed ancients

  • hey the girl is ayanna shes the ancient got frozen for 2 million years

  • umm creo eso de los Alteranos o antiguos esta muy sobrevalorado, son la civilizacion mas avanzada que jamas haya existido y tanto los Ori como los Wraith les han pateado el trasero hasta hacerlos correr.

  • Epic. Too bad the morons cancelled the show.

  • @copykon The show was a load of shit.

  • @copykon T was told that they canceled it because it would be too expensive to do both this show and Universe apparently it wasn't worth it since they canceled Universe as well, those idiots they totally messed up Universe they should have made it more traditional putting more Science Fictionish episodes amoung other things....

  • i watched this at W W W . TV-Vide . NET . Try it 5 minutes and than fill a free survey to watch 24hours

  • Which episode is this ?

  • @xdejanx the first episode of SGA

  • o.o That women that was left behind! She is in a Stargate SG-1 episode where she gets found. Wicked!

  • Y was she left behind?

  • I do not know. She died a few days after she was defrosted. ANd SG-1 did not know a lot of her. And I have not seen the movie.

  • @GoldenGohan She was infected with the plague that she infected with in that episode you mentioned, she had to be left behind so she did not infect any more people

  • whats the story behind the two people at the start, the guy on the right looks a little like apophis.

  • What episode is that?

  • I wonder why didn`t they used nuclear weapons on wraith, they must of known the power of the atom. We know that wrait hive ships are partialy organic, so neutron bomb would blow away many hives at once...

  • there may be weapons far more powerful than either bomb that the Ancients possessed that we haven't heard about yet

  • Yeah, it is very posible that they have known weapons of even greater destruction but they did`n want them to use .

  • yse but in if you did this in real life it would be a far biger blast and the wave's wolud go on for miles kill the good guy's to. lol

  • Yea, but neutron bom provides minimum blast wave, its greatest effect is pulse of radiation which kills all life. So ancients could use it to destroy multiple Hive ships at once, meanwhile they would just raise their shields and watch.

  • ya but you for get radiation isn't light or mater it would just pas right thor it =P

  • Is it just me or do they look very time lord-ish? I love Stargate but Atlantis kinda reminds me of Gallifrey in new Who. Don't know who copied who thought, or if it's just a coincidence...

  • I love how they made these two introductory Ancients look so racially ambiguous, as if they represented how beings would look if all of earth races were combined.

  • wait shes the ancient that got frozen for 2 millions years lol.

  • i think your right m8 lol nice eye

  • EPIC!

    I love this scene.

  • I would also like to see a series on the Ancients as well. There is so much we don't know about them to this day. How many city-ships they possessed? How many stargates they seeded? Why ZPMs were so scarce in our time but abundant in theirs? Lots of unanswered questions. I think they should carefully consider this option.

  • he ZPM question is easy they made them

atlantis has information in it about making zpms but they havnt figured out how to

  • By the way, the lady you see watching Atlantis leave is Ayiana. She is the same person who later was discovered by SG-1 frozen in ice. The reason she was left behind is that she possessed the ability to heal others of the plague that wiped out most of the Wraith. However, there was a downside to it. She also carried the plague, which meant that if she healed too many, then her body would eventually fail. The episode was good but sad in many ways.

  • If the Ancients had developed the numbers to counter the Wraith, they would have wiped the Wraith from existence long before the Wraith had conquered the Pegasus Galaxy. It's too bad that the Ancients didn't build a massive armada of city-ships. On the other hand, city-ships don't grow on trees. Still the firepower of one city-ship is incredible. If I had been the military commander, I would have ordered blueprints made for a city-ship class warship.

  • The problem was only that the ancients were few in numbers. Their technology simply didn't balanced the waruth's number superiority.

  • but the wraith only had those numbers because of ancient arogance which let a ZPM slip into the wraiths hands.

  • whats a waruth? lmao

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in this movie. It is true that the Ancients were powerful in their technological might. Even so, there is an old saying that dictates that numbers win wars, not superior technology. However, there is an exception to that saying. The Romans are a classic example of what happens when you combine Numbers and Technology. The Romans were very advanced and possessed a nearly unstoppable army, which is why they were the dominate empire for so long.

  • Yes, pacifism over all, right?

Bring your own kind of life to thousands of planets and then watch calmly while they´re being culled over and over again.

    Great job.

I love Stargate, but the ancients are ignorant idiots, and all those people craving for their return just don´t know it better. They are no gods. They ran away into ascension.

  • Why didnt the ancient kill the Wraiths when they ascended?

  • geeeeeezz

you truly dont know much about ancients and their way of life and what they believed in

  • How could the Ancient lose? When the Anciend had the weapon on Takara and Atlantis!! + if they all died who are the ascended ancients? And when they ascended why didnt they kick the wraiths ass?

  • Because Dakara is in another galaxy:p

  • Yeh Dakara right but when they ascended they could have killed all Wraiths

  • They could, but then they would be like the Ori..and you are aware that Aincents aren't took keen on mucking about with lower races. They would rather see us deal with the Wraith lol and the Ori,and the Gou'uld and the Replicators...in short, they are assholes

  • yeh :P well if you have seen the movie Adria from Sg1 kills the Ori and gets all their powers why didnt the ancient attack her? they gave a fuck about her aswell lol :)

  • Actually,Morgan Le Fey did attack Adria in the Ark of Truth...eventually lol

  • Yes but all the ancients :)

  • @Dalbert342 OMA attacked ascended Anubis....

  • the ancients lost because they were to few,not bad figthing or so. the wraiths cloned them self. thats why they lost.the asgards and the others were not so advanced at that time so they could not help. beside do anybody now where they left?

  • they lost because of plot hole

  • Because the Nox are in peace with everybody even with races who want to kill them. The Asgard... maybe they were already in war with the Replicators and they hadn't time to help their ally and we don't even know who are the Furlings so how can we know why they didn't help the Ancients. They were in alliance with them... but do I need to specify that they alliance's goal isn't to help each other but it's more a philosophic alliance and no military...

  • the conflict of the asgard with the replicators was a recent one, NOT thousands on years old, when the ancients left, not to when the ancients war at war with the wraith

Nox were to peaceful, and the Furlings, well, we dont know much about them

  • Anyway, they left the Earth many hundreed thoursands of years ago. At this time, the Asgards were not really technologically advanced and I still believe that the four great races' alliance was not founded. They couldn't be useful for the Ancients.

  • all we have heard is that the ancients could not beat them because of shear numbers but what of the furlings, nox and the asgard why were they not involved? its a very good point unless i am missing something? :s

  • I find the Ancients and their story far, far more fascinating than both SG-1 and SGA. I wish they would make a show about the Ancients arriving in the Milky Way 50 million years ago and the adventures they faced. Or a show about how exactly they lost the war with the Wraith despite being so far more advanced that they made the Wraith seem like space cavemen in comprison.

  • Ell, it would be cool....

But as we saw aurora class ships can be damn fragile:D

  • @SoulAssassino The Aurora class...although their drone weapons are good...their shields and infrastructure are weak.... The Asgard shields aboard the Daedalus class Earth Ships are stronger....and even their beam weapon are stronger..... Really i think Earth should find a way to 'create' drones of their own....and retro-fit it onto the Daedalus-class ships...and together with the beam weapons....and superior Asgard shielding and 'upgrades' provided by Dr Mckay.

  • @isal3 Yes I agree, they should have also made an episode that the salvage another Aurora Class that does not get destroyed but gets modified with Asgard Beam Weapons and Asgard Shields.

  • @michaelhviper that would have been awesome if they did that!! :)

  • Have you seen the move? The ark of Truth. It is alot about all ascended both the ancients and the Ori.

  • if the lanteans won almost every battle the number of hive ships must have been huge

  • About 10,000 years ago, the Lanteans seeing no end to the war decided to leave Atlantis, which was submerged in the ocean and protected by its powerful shield, the Lanteans, now called the Ancients evacuated the city via the stargate, hoping it would be rediscoverd by their descendants.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!! UR LIKE THE ULTIMATE STARGATE FAN cqouras!!!!!! or you just used CTRL + C and copied it in... still...

  • No I love Stargate Atlantis, so I have learned most the history of the ancients as a hobby, hope you enjoyed.

  • yea, i knew most of that you said already, but still....

  • The Lanteans and the Wraith went to war, but despite the Lanteans technological superiority they were overwelmed by sheer numbers. Over time all planets fail to the Wraith until only Lantea was left. Atlantis, protected by it powerful shield was submerged in the ocean. One on one an Atlantean battle ship was far more powerful than a Wraith ship. The Lanteans could win almost every battle, but they did not see a end to the war.

  • At some point the Lanteans came across a Leech-like organism called the 'Iratus bug'. Through feeding on humans this organism absorbed genetic material from humans and eventually evolved in the Wraith. When the Lanteans discoverd the Wraith it appears they underestimated them. The Lantens sent a delegation protected by their most powerful warship to negotiate piece, however the Lanteans were ambused and after a large battle were destroyed.

  • About 1 million years ago the Alterans left Earth in their city-ship of Atlantis. After arriving in the Pegasus galaxy the Alterans settled on a planet they named Lantea, they then began calling themselves Lanteans from that time foward, they would later be called 'the Ancestors', or 'the Ancient- ones'. Having found the Pegasus without sentient life the Lanteans dispersed humans across there new home, and built a system of stargates.

  • Minor correction: the Alterrans left the Milky Way for Pegasus anywhere from 5 to 10 million years ago. It is canon.

  • Millions of years ago the Ori and the Alterans were one society, but over time there beliefs changed. Instead of going to war the Altearns left their galaxy. The Ancients eventually discoverd Earth, which they called Terra. Earth became the capitol of their new empire, Earth became the home to Atlantis, and from Earth they built the Astria Porta, the stargates. Eventually the Alterans were afflicted by a plague that wiped out most of their civilzation.

  • as i beleive it a plague happened nobody knows if someone created it the ancients survived by ascending, no ORI. they left then for pegassus galaxy and were defeated by the wraith thats all i know for certain.

  • The Ancients rocked! The only thing that is amazing is that they, who's technology dwarfed even that of the Asgard, were defeated by the petty Wraith! The Asgard easily defeated the Goa'uld, and they are not as advanced as the Ancients, bo the hell did the Wraith defeat them?

  • they have said that the wraith won very few battles. Yet the wraith just kept coming at them over and over. They simply grew weary of the continues onslaught.

  • the wraith had numbers.... quated from the seige part 2 "the ancients won almost every battle, but they could not win the war"....

the ancients should of cloaked a planet and built tons of city-ships there (atlantis is a city-ship) and then when the time was right, attack with all they had and with tons of city ships, ZPMs, Drones, ect. they would be able to criple the wraith, perhaps even destroy them if they had enough numbers...

  • There is little doubt that the Ancients could have taken out the wraith if they really put themselves to it, they decided to forfit the galaxy and leave instead. They could have lasted indefinantly, and built up forces safely in other galaxies to attack with superior ships, yet they had the wisdom to walk away and let both sides live and rebuild. Perhaps that's why they ascended shortly after, the intelligence not to get bogged down over a pointless war over territory.

  • it was created by the Ori too whipe out the Alterans{aincents]

  • oh sure like the most evolved beings would have black ppl , this makes me laugh

  • i here a battle between the wraith and anctients was cuased ancients to leave, not the ori.... confused here lol

  • they left the pegasus galaxy due to the war with the wraith, they left their original galaxy due to ... different beliefs than the Ori, the ori intended the plague as a "going-away" present, at least that's how I understood it

  • umm the Ancients left earth to escape a plauge created by the Ori to wipe out the Ancients

  • That's speculation, there's no reason to assume the Ori had anything to do with the plague.

  • well, who else would want to wipe out the ancients?

  • Who said ANYONE wanted to wipe out the Ancients? What makes you think the plague was 'created' by anyone?

  • i want da full fuccing episodes dam it

  • The Ancient girl, she from the episode where they found her frozen! Look at that girl, then the ancient, thier identical!

  • Yes i thougth that too after watching this scene several times

    I never noticed it before

she is exactly the same person

  • i thin if in jumper is ancient people they which started machine on Dakara

  • @Saturasus sorry, wtf did u say?!?!

  • @bigabs18281 Nothing ?

  • created

  • The ancients were ones who crated the wraith in the first place so its due to their own negligence that they got chased out the pegasus galaxy

  • guess I won't watch it because I don't support people who are hypocritical. 1/5

  • the ancients left earth because of a great plague that was sweaping our galaxy during their time and they moved on 2 the pegasus galaxy where they then encountered the wraith, lost the war against them and fled back to earth where most of them ascended or died out. and the outpost was left when the city took of for pegasus and some random ancient guy was flying the jumper probz a lift for the male ancient to the city.

  • yeah thats right

  • Also, why did the male Ancient walk away?

  • (wow, long wait for a reply eh?)

This is pure speculation but maybe he wasn't happy that she had elected to travel to Dakara and recreate life through the Dakara device rather than travel with the rest of the Ancients to the Pegasus Galaxy.

Maybe some sort of relationship? The look on her face supports it while his look is so...cold.

  • 1) Who was in the jumper flying into the city?

    2) What was the machinery left behind when Atlantis lifted off? Was that the supposed "lost city" left in Antarctica?

  • 1) who would know who was flying the jumper, and who would care?

    2) the machinery that was left behind was the outpost... the ancinets usualy land their "City-Ships" (atlantis is a city ship...) on them... that must be the outpost in antartica which is latter discovered in season 7 of SG-1...

  • opps... please disreguard my last post... it was a reply for a post from 6 months ago.... yea idk y i was looking at a post from 6 months ago but.... nvm....
