I think that Follow the Freeman its more like a liberation movement leaded by Gordon Freeman, so i guess this is just a movie that is based in the rebels following that move, i think theres more histories beyond Gordon Freeman in Half-Life, like the rebels fight against the combine, theyre survival day to day and even a movie based in the combine! so i love Gordon Freeman but i he's not needed to make a Half life movie.

First off, anyone have any idea what the piano piece at 2:34 is? No? Anyone? Oh well.

It's set close to the "Follow Freeman" chapter - and that's exactly what the resistance is doing. Just because Freeman isn't actually there leading a squad doesn't mean the battle's over and they'll suddenly stop trying to push up reinforcements (ditto the metrocops). If the director had really wanted to set it in the seven hour war, he probably would have reskinned the resistance fighters.
