This is really antiquated thinking. There is so much wrong with this its scary. The oldest, most primitive function of the mind is the formulation of hierarchies and the pursuit of supremacy through subjugation. Acceptance is what is going to carry us toward a better future, not judgment.

@azkeyz What notes he selected and in what order might tell you more about which composer inspired him.
only a successful quest for original musical expression through composition would his personality have been revealed on an emotional level...music is the pure expression of feeling.

Classical music is hardly hanging by a thread - there are popular classical music labels the world over, the young are exposed to the canon through schools and university.

too big a subject to make absolute statements upon. Classical musicians like to think that music helps them think more abstractly about other things not musical...perhaps it is so....perhaps not. During the 1970's classical musicians, in New York City anyway, were highly conscious of the wrongs being done by our government and took action. I saw my music teacher play with Itzack Perlman (Sinfonia Concertante by Mozart) to raise money to protest the war in Vietnam.
"Classical music is the only place where intelligence exists anymore" WRONG. Classical, Jazz and folk music (Celtic, Scottish, Polka etc). It's the rest of music that isn't open to imagination.
Calling Classical the only place where there's intelligence is as egotistical as Obama thinking he has the power to force Catholic Hospitals to give artificial
I agree completely on this, however, the term, "classical", should be removed. Music is identity, personally I love electronic/synth music. Since becoming an artist and producer, ideals of my mind have expanded in ways untellable. But it is my awareness of the waves/sound/perception/manipulations etc. that open grander ideas. Classical in the day of Einstein was all he understood so he grew, but the form and composition types evolved, so yes music opens your mind, biasing its form, hinders it.
"Actual expressions of creativity are not located within the confines of mathematics."
WTF?!!
Humans can't directly access anything. When we choose how to attempt to describe the world using math, we're creatively expressing ourselves.
The idea that math doesn't involve creativity suggests that math doesn't affect human psychology, doesn't flow from it, and math problems are actually solved. Then someone calls into question some idea, like defining the circle from a central point, and viola
i didn't watch the video before entering the classical music discussion haha, i disagree with the statement that classical music is the only place where real intelligence is, but i agree with everything else, now a days i can an intellectual by being an arrogant kid who read a couple of books and get A's in high school, university, i have met so much people that consider they are smart because they follow the "smart recipe", while they don't understand shit, don't really get in depth with things
I was shocked when this video turned "anti-Obama." Should have recognized the name "Larouche." Do you really believe that all European nations are "ruined" because of their socialized health-care systems? A little more study of world history and international economics is in order, dear. Neuroscience supports what we musicians know: performing and hearing complex music (including jazz) helps us think better. But when you start calling Obama a Nazi, you just kill your case. Not helpful at all.
...and I believe that for something to be able to make you feel all those beautiful human feelings, all that is undescribable, beyond rationality or sense; and stimulate in you the unique ability of our magnificent race, that is, creativeness, it is because that something itself is a product of the personal vision of everything of a creative and intelligent being.
Classical/orchestra music is indeed a marvelous and exquisite art form, but not the only place intelligence exists, as you propose.
Well...I do agree in the fact that there is a strong lack of cultural enrichment interest in many social communities nowadays, mostly young ones of course. But I don't see how you can say classical music is the only place intelligence exists, it is an undeniable fact that it is proof of how far human creativeness and intelligence can go but it is not its limit. There are many musical genres that evoke that feeling of easyness, pureness and happiness in the world...
I think you should cite your research sources. This video has some interesting ideas but absolutely no visible backing. Your claims are presented as known fact with no backing research cited. The things about Einstein are well done but your opinions and observations are presented as fact, rather than well-researched theories which have been proved
@iluvmusick09 Thanks for your reply ... wow! You really practice up to 7 hrs/day! I think it was Mr Perlman who said [ somewhere on youtube ] not to practice more than 4 or was it 5 hrs/day ( but I'm not certain on this ) - anyway, do you like Chamber Music or only Soloist stuff?
About your mentioning "let the Asian jokes commence" ; I don't know what this means but I want you to know I love Asian folks - are you Asian?
@Randomness65535 Hi I don't yet know how I can respond fully to your comment because I'm not sure I understand it all ... could you please elaborate on your comment and then I'll try to respond?
@JESUS1John You don't seem like the type who believes that God is on his country's side(there were many who said the earthquakes in Japan is God's punishment for Pearl Harbor or some stupid crap like that) but that he loves people of all nationalities, as you said.
I rarely see christians who think like you do, tolerant and all that. Even though I'm mostly atheist I respect people like you. I say "mostly" because I agree with some christian and buddhist philosophy.
@iluvmusick09 u must be an interesting person =D.... i love jazz/classical but i currently only play blues cuz im too fucking lazy =\.... i gotta get my fucking act together
@87linceed Bullshit... everything depends on what you are approaching and how you are approaching it....what do you mean by complexity? harder to create? to interpret? more notes? craziest tempos? jazz is more open to improv and personal approach, you could play a coltrane's song by only playing 4 notes and it wouldn't be wrong, now there are some crazy composers and interpretations out there, Check out mr. Charles Mingus....he wrote songs for his entire big band
@87linceed What an absurd generalisation - and from a composition major! Which classical music? Which jazz? Both are terms that cover an incredible diversity of musical forms. "Classical" can mean anything written from the 11th century to the present day or can mean the classical era. Jazz is similarly diverse.
@mikelheron20 I believe that when he mentions Bach and Mozart he means the Classical Era. Jazz is indeed diverse, but if I'm not mistaken the Jazz piano currently practiced in some schools is quite complex. Requires some basic theory and adds in a bit of it's own.
@JESUS1John who cares some music people are ridged people who play well do not have to practice as much as he is talking about my friend in an a major orc does never had to practice like that
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE SNAPSHOT BOYS CHECK THEM OUT SMOOTH SHE BAD ALL GREAT SONGS !!! HELP THEM GET 10000000 VIEWS THANKS AND BE BLESSED
@iluvmusick09 don't lie. I am sure you never played any of those concertos. If you did, you would not even dare welcome the idea that Jazz could even be possibly more complex than Classical. I've seen this happen. People saying 'I play classical so I know'. But it didn't work in your case because your comment is simply stupid. I am no saying Jazz is not beautiful because it is. Beauty is not always determined by complexity. But no, Jazz is not more complex than Classical
was this not supposed not to be about Einstein and music?
you go and criticize Obama saying the since he doesn't play classical music he's not going to make an amazing scientific discovery and get us out of the recession. It was a decent video from 3:20 until 5:20, otherwise, complete crap.
From the start i was like, this is pretty cool, i mean i play music and i did a lot better in math than a lot of my class mates, and so did my fellow band mates. Then it got to the part were it said people we less creative because they did not have classical music to listen to. Are you fucking stupid?!? Common Era Classical Music is the least creative music there is, so many rules it hurts to think about. PLAYING music is what stimulates the brain, the type does not matter.
@Deathcow38 what you said is correct. the study that says that music makes you smarter comes from the UC system in California. the first study done only pointed to classical music making people smart. but after years more the changed the conclusion of the first study to be "music makes you smarter" not just classical music.
also your notion that classical music has all these rules. just so you know those rules are still being used in pop music today.
I heard the last section just now about Obama. What sick perverted nonsense. If he just achieves good Dental care in America he has surpassed Einstein straight away. You `ll have them all smashing violins at this rate. The readers seem to be able to read the words in the right order (just) even if it`s all rubbish.
I can feel lots of illoical thinking going on here. I like classical but don`t despise anybody who prefers something else. I like Jazz too. But you need to like exactly what other peolple like right down to the exact musician and the exact record on the right equipment and say you like it in the same accent at the same speed they like and just hope they believe you. Phew .That`s a lot of hard work.
Why do all these elitist's always make musical examples such as J.S Bach and Beethoven Clearly his taste in classical music is only made up of the Romantic kind of classical (usually the very bland over played styles) what about Alexander Scriabin or Horowitz heck even Deshevov?
@iluvmusick09 They never directly bad mouth jazz. Im sure they just dont understand how complex jazz has become since its rise from "pop" music in the early 20th century.
This is a dangerous way of thinking. My only fear is that some might actually be confused by the presentation. This propaganda should be removed from public view as it is misinformation keenly devised. Dangerous indeed!
Talk about Einstein and leave politics which you know nothing about alone. Elevating Larouche to the level of Einstein is trivial nonsense. Einstein would agree with Obamacare by the way. As do most other civilized western nations that take care of their citizens instead of war mongering.
This video is interesting but overly humanistic. Do you think it is possible that Bach, Handel, et al are unpopular because they composed music to glorify God rather than themselves? JS Bach was a Bible scholar and would today be called a Bible thumper. Humans are frail by nature and we are all imperfect. Only God can save us through Jesus.
Apparently you lack the epistemological understanding of the issues you present. Pay close attention to the lessons you need to learn in order to discover the necessary solutions to the problems you present. Obama is nothing more than a puppet manipulated by the one percent hierarchy in our country. Offer solutions or ideas to solutions instead of criticism to issues you still do not fully comprehend. Comparing Obama to Hitler is grossly insane on your part. Perhaps you missed a few history les
Instead of spouting random stuff on youtube about random dribble. Go out and get a PhD in Physics or Chemistry or Biology and DO something about it!! geeeez....
If you read other languages, you will find that groups like Hamas, Hezbollah and even Chavez contributed serious amounts to Obama's campaign.
Anyway, enough about Obama, this is about the genius of Einstein and thank you for your video. Einstein was always my hero. You become a hero to people by doing and that is what Einstein did. He NEVER touted his accomplishments, just kept on working.
Your comments on Obama are right on. He is a narcissistic psychopath. I had to complain to Yahoo and other sites to stop putting his picture on their home page every single day. He just wants to see himself everywhere. You are right, I took 4 years of Psych and my son is soon graduating as a neuropsychiatrist. Obama is a lot like "Hitler" in some ways, yet I believe that Obama is only a puppet used by a select few with endless financial resources, who picked him for their own agenda...
@susanpreston777 Where did you learn about naccissium and psychopathology? You are young, impressionable and have a head full of shit for brains. This is the most intelligent assessment of your commentary. Get a life. "Obama like Hitler" are you out of your mind? I lived through wwII and you are my dear girl way off course. I suggest you get back to another school where so much shit was pumped into your brain that you cannot differentiate between these two men.Hope you recover..
Bravo! Finally someone has the courage to tell the truth: "Those who can't, make noise". Just listen to Jennifer Hudson on those ads for WeightWatchers. She and the other woman sound like cats screaming in an alley. Einstein was a genius physicist and great musician. Steve Hawking tried to debunk Eintein's theories and later had to publicly admit that Einstein was right...there is too much order, there is no end to the + and/or to the -. Lisa Randall, a physicist at Harvard continues his work.
this is ridiculous. i am a classical musician, and also a rock musician. it's absolutely insane to say that classical music is the only intelligence left, and that the hippies rid the world of creativity. shame on you for this propaganda.
Does anyone else feel like Classical Music has been hi-jacked by this person? I mean I do agree with the notion on sensual pleasures in the public culture these days, but attacking everyone else that don't take an interest in Classical Arts as "unhuman" is just not fair!
i am very annoyed that they bashed Obama at the end.He is our president and even if you don't like him you need to respect him...i don't think that he has done enough during his term but people need to realize that no one person is going to be able to fix the mess that we have become...in defense to obama, no one in congress will agree with his proposed plans...i don't know how he is expected to make a difference if he doesn't have the chance...i am not a democrat, nor am i republican...
@TheShanePM You were probably disappointed because you didn't know the story behind laroucheyouth. If you had, you would have known the whole thing was a political rant disguised as legit information.
Music by difinition has math built into it. Frequencies, multiplication, time signature. Western music theory is a kind of formula in itself. [Most] modern music uses a simple 1-5-1 chordal structure and is structurally very simple compared to what was written years ago from the early 20th century and back. It should be a no-brainer that higher levels of music promotes more complex thinking. I wouldn't transfer that to all levels of science, and economics has the barrier of politics....
@dreadfulsolmnity if Einstein plagiarized special relativity, how did he come up with his general relativity revision of the theory. How did he theorize the photo-electric effect? you are blatantly stating that a man who's intelligence far exceeds that of your own is an idiot. In your defense, I suppose it Is only natural for those of primitive intelligence to want others to be as they are.
Wow lol strong opinions of Obama :p I take refuge from confusion and frustration in learning about scientific discoveries, usually helps me solve my problems.
I doubt whether creativity is exclusive to those who enjoy classical music? (That's what this video is postulating.) As for Einstein, I don't see much of a connection between creativity and classical music other than the culture / era he lived in. .
I doubt whether creativity is exclusive to those who enjoy classical music? (That's what this video is postulating.) As for Einstein, I don't see much of a connection between creativity and classical music other than the culture / era he lived in. .
thats true einstein is what religion does to you he wouldnt embrace quantum mech because he said god didnt play dice with the world... universe... he was a theorist he had moments or brilliant perception and imagination and he had the tools to explain in maths theory what he thought and what he saw in his mind, thats called intelligence
the scriptwriter of this video is indeed the type a personality... dont listen to fox news when they tell you to stay tuned. at least i learned something about einstein.
there are more dislikes than likes on this video. proof that the minds of those today cannot value intellectual discussion. some are angry that the title was misleading. the information offered was far more valuable than an old man jamming on a violin.
open your minds people! this world is getting dumber by the minute.
I'm only going to comment about the music... I think the blind reverence for classical music in the sense of Mozart and Bach (and other similar composers) is too elitist and as backwards as someone who only prefers to listen to the pop drivel heard on the radio. I don't think it's the decline of the popularity of classical music (which it never was popular because back in the day it was mostly an upper class thing), but the severed attenuation with the intuitive faculties of the mind.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD DARE TO CALL THIS VIDEO "Einstein and his Violin". You should be ashamed of using such an exeptional man's name for such a shitty idea... HOW CAN U SLEEP AT NIGHT? first of all music is music... it doesnt have to be clasical to srike the conscience.... dont get me wrong, I do love clasical music... but that type of political bullshit is why there are no advances being made... fucking political agenda... you should devote your life to science, not some bullshit....
So, you make all this video about Einstein, you say, but in the end, you come to use terrilbe terms for the president of your country. Young lady, it's a pitty you use classical music to promote your political ideas. Such a dissapointment!
Aha! The youtube users with half a brain are all busy commenting on videos about Albert Einstein! I've been searching for years for intelligent and well-worded youtube comments and finally I have found them.
You are misinformed laroucheyouth. Your comments about Obama are limited, juvenile and faux elitist. I came here to only hear about Einstein and instead have to hear/endure that drivel. Lame.
This video is full of deplorable opinions, and misinterpretations of history as should be expected from anything associated with LaRouche. I find it comical that a group which doesn't even grasp global climate change would attempt to lecture society on scientific literacy. What a joke!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Einstein's only genius was his incomparable ability to plagiarize the ideas of others and pass them off disingenously as his own, particularly those of James Maxwell, Michelson, and Morley.
His supposed annus mirabilis of 1905 was the creation of a Swiss patent office in Bern from where he plagiarized his "special theory" and the four quintessential essays in theoretical physics and quantum mechanics. In 1912 Einstein took up a chair at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
@DreadfulSolemnity yeah, he stole the ideas to others and, for a chance, the whole world did not notice it ... Do you know a bit of history of physics?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Einstein was a great theorist and justly remains a compelling figure in our history. Let us not forget, though, that he also possessed a serious flaw. Due to his tenaciously dogmatic views of nature, he would not embrace quantum mechanics, and watched physics from the sidelines for most of his life as a result. He is not, in fact, a model for how humanity should go forward. Truly, and sadly, he is more a model of rigidity and stubbornness in the face of powerful evidence.
OK Laroucheyouth, found the video you referenced.... I will concede that my statement may have been erroneous in degree, but not entirely so. Sorry, not going to watch a youtube video of nearly 4 hours (!) to extract the argument that you claim. Agree to disagree, over and out.

Yes , I wanted to see if this video showed exactly what kind of skill level einstein had on the violin.
it did give me some idea , apprently einstein was musicaly capable in piano and violin.
to find out he viewed it as the most important tool in his work speaks volumes.
the question becomes which notes did he normaly select.
the reason is because as a musician and composer , it would tell me who he really is.

TsubakiRan 3 weeks ago
Well...I do agree in the fact that there is a strong lack of cultural enrichment interest in many social communities nowadays, mostly young ones of course. But I don't see how you can say classical music is the only place intelligence exists, it is an undeniable fact that it is proof of how far human creativeness and intelligence can go but it is not its limit. There are many musical genres that evoke that feeling of easyness, pureness and happiness in the world...

@iluvmusick09 i am also a composition major and yes classical music is far more complex than jazz.
87linceed 3 weeks ago
@87linceed Bullshit... everything depends on what you are approaching and how you are approaching it....what do you mean by complexity? harder to create? to interpret? more notes? craziest tempos? jazz is more open to improv and personal approach, you could play a coltrane's song by only playing 4 notes and it wouldn't be wrong, now there are some crazy composers and interpretations out there, Check out mr. Charles Mingus....he wrote songs for his entire big band
juliovac 3 weeks ago
@87linceed What an absurd generalisation - and from a composition major! Which classical music? Which jazz? Both are terms that cover an incredible diversity of musical forms. "Classical" can mean anything written from the 11th century to the present day or can mean the classical era. Jazz is similarly diverse.
mikelheron20 3 weeks ago
@mikelheron20 I believe that when he mentions Bach and Mozart he means the Classical Era. Jazz is indeed diverse, but if I'm not mistaken the Jazz piano currently practiced in some schools is quite complex. Requires some basic theory and adds in a bit of it's own.

Then it got to the part were it said people we less creative because they did not have classical music to listen to. Are you fucking stupid?!? Common Era Classical Music is the least creative music there is, so many rules it hurts to think about. PLAYING music is what stimulates the brain, the type does not matter.
Deathcow38 1 month ago
@Deathcow38 what you said is correct. the study that says that music makes you smarter comes from the UC system in California. the first study done only pointed to classical music making people smart. but after years more the changed the conclusion of the first study to be "music makes you smarter" not just classical music.
also your notion that classical music has all these rules. just so you know those rules are still being used in pop music today.
