Too expensive? Screw AIG and give the bailout money to the navy, building as many as was originally planned would create tons of jobs , especially engineers and ironworkers.
This reminds me of the Seawolf program, too expensive and limited deployment. However, the lessons learned by building the Seawolf allowed the program to be streamlined and optimized with the cost saving being used to purchase additional Viginia class attack submarines.
Look for a future destroyed to employ all the capabilities of the DDGX a a significant cost savings. The Arliegh Burke class is fully capable of defending the sea lanes against aggression well into the next decade.
I have read up on this quite a bit but I am confused on how man CG(X) cruisers they are planning on building. I hope the follow through with this, and then build some more when they realize how amazing it is.
This is a flat out lie. The DDG 1000 has significantly better AAW capability than DDG 51. Congress, the Unions, and the Navy Leadership are lying to you.
this thing cost 5 billion dollar a piece. crazy.

@schnips074, you're so right. I know someone who helps build it and his co-workers are being fired because of OBAMA!

This is bullcrap. Too expensive? How expensive is it gonna seem when there's a Chinese invasion fleet crossing the Pacific?

That's the U.S. Navy for you. Cheap, cheap, cheap.
NWU, F-14's, Battleships, DDG-1000, CGX.
Luckily, DDG-1000 was not cancelled, but they are only making three. Three when around thirty were originally planned.

That's nothing new, Congress and the brass lying. The Unions in this country are as close as makes no difference to being Communists.

I'm not navy guy.
Where did U find out that DDG 1000 is better from DDG 51 series (in whole picture not in some parameters)?
Can U explain me why 1000 is better from51?
