the sound of his guitar is so shummering and sparkly that, more than a low-tuned 6 strings,it sounds like a 7 strings acoustic guitar with the high E left unplayed
Don has said that he originally wrote this song on the piano and he called the chord changes "excruciatingly difficult". You can find the clinic on my channel under 'Antoine Dufour/Don Ross Guitar Clinic (3/3)'.
I would love to learn this song, Ive learned Klimbim thanks to a tab. I can't find one for this song and I wouldn't be able to transcribe it to save my life.
@georgejonez I actually learnt this from watching the video. Once I discovered I could play it with standard tuning (except the low E is dropped to C#) it became easy to play. All the chords are text book. I can upload a tutorial if you want. There is a song he did a long time ago called "Island of Women-" This version is the improvement of that.
Before, i didn't really like don Ross's music because i thought it was too technical and really accessible to the grand public. But i changed and now I think I could'nt live without Ross's music, it's really amazing, some songs are really funny to hear (Blue Bear per example, I'm in a kind of a transe when I hear it's really unbelievable lol) and some others are more quiet and calm like this one, but still beatiful and full of emotion. Go Don go !!! You're my god guy !
Hm, I can hear the melody clear in my head, but this is just a little too jarring with his position jumps for my ears. But I guess I was expecting more of a smooth jazz sound or something.
Yeah plus Andy knew him before they played together. They just happen to be both AMAZING at guitar and an espically great match of style and emotion. Their open tuning works compliment eachother extrememly well. I love their music. both of them.
GOLF CLAP?!?! REALLY?!?!?! WHERES THE ROAR OF APPLAUSE!!!! Lol. Just kidding. I love you Don!

is it baritone or is it a normal guitar tuned down?
lennarddudelu 1 year ago
@lennarddudelu It must be a baritone guitar, when he plays the low string it doesn't sound like is touching the frets.
