The most important line in that song is "I will love you, for the rest of MY life" which is just what Paul will do. He will love her forever and only ever find companionship in his final days not the passionate love he had with Linda. There is no other woman who he will ever love more than he loved his beautiful baby as he called Linda. Bad luck to the woman who next happens to marry him. You can only do what you can and not take it personally. Linda is unique to Paul. She completed him.
