  • local boy from ZLIN !!

  • #2 was Yashin. Who would you have had..

  • @IceKid2009

    hammer

  • say what you will he's stood the test of time....

  • nice video, only Hamrlik (Hamrlík) - no Hamrilk, he was born in the same city as me ...east of Czech republic, his reactions? = typical playfulness and feistiness of Wallachia:D

  • @Elunaj -not a east of Czech Republic ,but eastern Czech Republic :-)

    Iam belongs to Napajedla !

  • its not hamrlik on the first footage the guy is righty

  • lol he looked like a boys band singer or something during that draft

  • Holy crap, its Hamrlik!!! :O

    he changed a lot lollll

  • ROOOOMAN HAMRLIK !!!

i saw him play as a 16 years old in Zlin .Czech ....he was awsome!!!

  • "Vat? Vat? Vere are de American ladeezz?"

  • wasnt a deap draft year..gonchar may could have went #1 based on stats.

at the time i think they made the right choice.

  • i can't remember, was he on the tampa bay stanley cup team?

  • @1more4carhur of course not, how old are u

  • HE WAS A BEAST WHEN i CAME WATCHING HIM PLAYIN IN czechoslovakia AROUND 1991 !!!

Roman was and still is a very good mobile defensman !!!

  • GO BATA ZLIN !

  • Hamrlik has done well in his career, whoever says he suck obviously has never watched him play. He's a beast on the powerplay.

  • Oh Boy:

    1990: Nolan

    1991: Lindros (for holding out)

    1992: Hamrlik

    1993: Daigle

1994: Jovanovski (good but not great)

    1995: Phillips

shittest number one picks ever...compared to the Crosby + Ovechkins

  • and 1996 was berard

  • Actually I think 1995 was berard and 1996 was Phillips

  • oh yeah. but even though you are saying berard is a bust he scored yesterday in the spengler cup!! sigh... the sens suck at #1 picks

  • hamrlik is a solid player still playing

  • @leafs88nation Nolan and Lindros r franchise players so i wouldn't say they were shit...

  • The Hammer! Haha.

  • This guy still got juice in him he can still manage to score 50 points seasons with Montreal Canadiens

  • at least this guy is still playing so i will forgive him

  • the crowd didn't even care.

  • Sergei Gonchar #14 awesome

  • this guy has been a good pick except his days are numbered now. He can't score goals like he used to in montreal at least he will retire with a great career

  • Sergei Gonchar @ #14!!! lol!

  • One of the crappiest drafts

  • Agreed. 1992 was pretty brutal

  • BUST!

  • the nineteen two draft?? Oh Phil

  • Great pick... that guy has a nice career. Funny though, it wasn't him on the footage !

  • I like Roman Hamrlik he's cool :)

  • Now he is with Montreal!

  • Do you also have the Hemsky draft?

  • He has had a decent career, but has played most of it on some shitty teams. But 16 years later he is still in the league playing well for Montreal. So it was a good pick. Alexei Yashin who went #2 was a skilled mentalcase who had an ass for an agent. Which is the major reason why is back playing in Russia.

  • ur right hes with mtl but recently, hes not doing well

  • he's played on some pretty bad teams throughout his career. The early lightning teams were awful, the oilers were cash strapped, and the isles were bad as well.

But Roman's luck has changed post lockout. He played one a decent calgary team and currently plays on an exciting montreal squad.

He's the #3 d-man on montreal's depth chart behind markov and komisarek but he could still be a top 2 d-man on a few teams in the league today.

  • Agreed. To put up points that he did on a bad team like Tampa was phenomenal. It's a shame that he played on good teams at that age. He's not as good as he was.

  • Is that John Wells doings commentary?

  • Yes, that is JOhn Wells. This is the first draft I ever taped.

  • Awesome! Thanks.

  • Other than Yashin and maybe Straka, there weren't any first rounders from 1992 that was better than Hamrlik.

  • @hellonicetomeetyou don't forget Sergei Krivokrasov and Sergei Gonchar, the first guy i mentioned was not that great but come on you can't forget Gonchar who was drafted 14th overall by the Capitals. He had the benefit of playing on stacked teams like Pittsburgh and Washington at the time but still this was a weak draft.

  • Waste of a draft pick.

Roman was way too emotional, way to often.
