I want to get a drumset of this caliber, and I was wondering what I should get. I'm heavily considering a Tama set. I just want to know: Where do you get all of those cymbals and what do they do? I've looked through websites and I have no clue what I should get. I can't tell a crash from a splash. I know what hi-hats and rides are, but what are all the various other cymbals you have?

Cymbals are as much art form as any other part of a drum set. Buying one brand over another doesn't take into account the individual nature of the sounds they produce.

Crash cymbals are more like a public school teacher is admonishing children in any assembly. Hissing a Sshhh.

Splash cymbals are more like a loud angry snake. Tssssssss...

I'm no drummer, I'm an audiophile. If I could reproduce the sounds in my head I would have an album. Hehe. Hope this helps.

AAX are nice cymbals, plenty loud. They were made to be loud. I would recommend Paiste Rude for Punk, Alt and Metal. Also Paiste 2002's in heavy weights.

i have been playing for like 2 years i am 14 and i spend preatty much all my money on my drums. i got the ZBT set made by zildaijan. i got the 16 and 18 inch crash (saving for the 14) 10 inch splash 20 inch ride and 14 inch hi-hats i got a mapex set (not good though cost 600 dollars) i also bought a peral firecracker snar and the remo pinstripe tom heads. i got one question though. WHAT IS THE BEST CYMBOL SET FOR PUNK, ALTERNITIVE ROCK, AND METAL MUSIC? i play all them and i dont know

Remo's the leader man. Every head works for a different person. Remo heads are used by pretty much everyone, so by saying Remo sucks, you're pretty much dissing Portnoy, Peart, Palmer, and pretty much any other iconic drummer out there. Everyone's got their own oppinions, but Remo definately doesn't suck. And Neither do Evans, Attack, or Aquarian.
