so... if i just mixed kclo3 and sugar.. then burned it would i then get potassium chloride too? (: or does it have to be in some test tube?

Yes you would get KCl, and no it doesnt have to be in some test tube. However if you want relatively pure KCl, you would ahve to stoichiometrically get the ratios in weight.
