No. I used an incendiary tracer. A regular tracer will go right through it so fast that it won't ignite. If you look right as the bullet impacts, you'll see a bunch of sparks. That's actually the incendiary tip igniting and burning at about 3000 degrees F.
tracers are illegal in cali, you can do what I used to do when I lived there and just go to a gun show in oregon, nevada, or arizona and buy them, high cap mags.....the works! just be careful if you live in southern california because I almost caught a field on fire with them
@jcr1r2r3 they are now illegal in Canada. Suppliers are not allowed to sell them anymore. And people that bought them before sell them really expensive.
No. I tried it and the tracer passed through before it could ignite. Even at a hundred yards. : ( You could try shooting a second tracer right after the first to ignite the gas that is escaping. I haven't tried that yet.

Cool, I need to find some 5.56x45mm IT rounds, I have used tracers, but haven't found any Incendiary Tracers yet (sad face)
