  • this fag still alive?

  • If you are close enough to the screen, 1080i or 1080p is better. If you are 9 or 10 feet away from the monitor and it isn't that big, 720p will do.

  • Holy shit is this the guy from TechTV?

  • I can see the difference when I play N4SD on PS3 and N4SD on xbox

(Yes I have the same game twice , why you ask because I do)

  • I still have a 32 inch CRT which is fucking huge :/

  • @TehGKoi I don't envy the day you have to carry that off to the trash. I recently did it myself with my old 32" panasonic when switching for a 42" samsung plasma

  • @TehGKoi Don't envy - meaning that they are heavy as F--- and cumbersome, next time im carrying one off i'll just chuck it through the window lol

  • Should I buy a 720p for 100 quid cheaper than a 1080p???

  • "Thats my opinion, I could be wrong" --> LOL

  • What's the Difference Between 720p and 1080i ON A 240P VIDEO haha. (the irony)

  • 2:57 hah its now 4 years down the road.

  • for xbox 720p is way better than 1080i, you get a much clearer image

  • attention seeker

  • this dudelooks like chedder bob off of 8 Mile

  • fucking NERD!

  • If you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p, you must have some bad eyes because in my opinion it looks a lot better.

  • @Area606Productions the difference is only really noticeable if the video gets zoomed in pretty far, or your sitting right in front of the tv lol

  • Good video!

  • Fag

  • Fag

  • what a fag and the video is shit

  • i can't really tell the difference between 720p and 1080i either, but for some reason 1080i seems better, just can't explain why, maybe it's psychological due to the bigger number or something

  • closed captioning can be so funny some times "bald man on gatway fuel" XD 1:18

  • Life-lagged!

  • Talking about 1080p, 720p, 1080i etc... Yet you use a 240p video :P

  • @MurfyAthea Its faster to buffer a tv , and i think you wouldnt really bother to see his face clearer !

  • @MurfyAthea this was a livestream, and 4 years ago. give him a break :b

  • Chris does have alot of good information usually. But, his pomposity anymore is getting irritating.

  • 1080p is better than both.

  • Apparently, this guy thinks 240p is best.

  • @FlyYoshi2600 Its much faster to buffer a 240p video if you have a slower connection , and a higher resolution isnt really required !

  • @abhimanyu95 No, it's just kinda funny because ALL of these kinds of videos (HD comparisons) are like that....

240p was a nice addition to the site

  • @ChowAtTheY

  • Holy shit crt monitors? That was like a couple years ago! Man you're a dinosaur! Lol!!! Face palm till bloody death!

  • it's 2011 so i guess things are much different make a new video!

  • @auesr no need for a new video, interlaced stuff is outdated, so is the resolution 1280x720. 1080p is the only "standard" now.

  • 1360x768@60hz is the best

  • must understand first the difference between progressive and interlace

  • Wow this guy is funny!

  • many people didnt see the years of this video.

in early 2007 there are not many 1080p content.

  • @ChowAtTheY LOL! your racist.

  • 1080p is the best dumb asses.

  • @imafurryhusky

    Personally I enjoy 1080p24.

  • he doesnt know what hes talking about.... he makes nerds look cool....

  • Man someone get this nerd laid

  • SO 720 IS BETTER??

  • Dude P Means Pixel 720p is alreight but 1080p is very good now they got 1920P by 1080P Incredible these days

  • @MCBoomerrocksSab2 P can and should stand for Progressive.

  • @MCBoomerrocksSab2 no you retard its not pixels its progressive

  • @MCBoomerrocksSab2 They got 2160p

  • @MCBoomerrocksSab2 Fail..

  • this dude is oneeee weird mofo

  • why does he always lag ?

  • @MagnusHvass it's recorded live

  • HI can anyone give me an example of a good HDTV? THAT HAS 0 INPUT LAG. i am very picky and a perfectionist.

  • It does look like he is using a security camera, it would be funny if some guy in a mask ran in waving a gun and robbed his computer LOL

  • I have had a CRT monitor for a long time and i can tell, the video quality is much better. For all of you people saying that you can play crysis at the best settings, to really see the best graphics you have to have a CRT monitor.

  • @TheArceus12345 Are you joking? ROFL

  • @TheArceus12345 LOL?

Go buy an decent monitor mate, I recommend the Samsung Syncmaster 2443BW

I got that screen, it's the best out there for a budget price ^_^

  • 2160p

  • and 4 years later, we have 1080p!

  • Do people still do the "Simon" thing ?

  • So what should i get for my 32"? Any recommendations i use it for my ps3 i play black ops does HDMI even make a difference?

  • how bout your 240pi? SHIT!

  • Is this taken from a security camera with color?

  • daaaamn his such a nerd

  • 360p?

  • that is why when ever i play on my 27 inch 480i HDTV call of duty i blow at it

  • This guy is 20 and and thinks he is 60.

  • @TheCottonTop LOL!

  • @TheCottonTop hes also a fucking faggot

  • @TheCottonTop he's actually closer to 40.

  • @TheCottonTop He's not 20, actually.

  • @TheCottonTop he is 38, but i know what you mean. "I grew up with black and white TV's"

  • I can tell the difference and 1080i is way better

  • lol 40k 1080 in 07? wtf

  • There is a huge difference between 720p and 1080p in larger screens.

  • ps 3 is able now ! u were right 1080 p is now useful

  • GET A FUCKIN LIFE UR SO GAY KISS A GIRL GET MARRIED HAVE A CHILDREN U HAVE 3,125 VIDEO OMFG

  • @inoobcakesftw Having too much time in one's hands = homosexuality?

    ...

  • @sookoll23 LOL

  • i always wonderd why the lines went down the tv when you filmed it, cheers :)

  • okay chris i finally rate you as a complete dumbass.... -_-

1080i is 1080p of interlaced lines YES...BUT! In interlaced image the EVEN lines are displayed, and the odd ones are displayed as BLACK! so its like a picture cut horizontally in 1080 pieces and taking every 2 lines and puttin them on a black paper! so if it was converted to progressive it would convert the EVEN lines (which amounts to half of the picture...so 1080i is basically 540p and thats why 720p is greater than 1080i.

    Jackass

  • @Shucaybias absolutely right

  • CRT FTW* Aranmo182 1:41 :)

  • it all depends on the size of the display, the distance from which you are watching, and the quality of your eye sight. You cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 20" display, from 8 feet away. But, on a 50"+ display, from the same distance, you can tell.

And 720p is better than 1080i. It doesn't really matter anyway, most broadcasts are in 720p, the only time you get 1080p is in Blu Ray.

  • anyone i need help with my xbox 360 composite cables

    /watch?v=Mvd5FBchRNU

  • You got something backwards about 1080i being better for sports or high action. It's 720p that's better for that as it displays fast moving objects better without blurring or tearing.

  • 1080i-720i

  • 1080i looks better than 1080p on my tv... i think it's because it's cheap but i don't know

  • @taasing12 Are you using HDMi or Component cables?

  • @annythepip HDMI

  • @taasing12 Yeah my xbox looks better in 1080i as well.

  • IMO, I think 720p is better than 1080i but 1080p owns all.

  • Comment removed

  • This video is interlaced. You can see, especially when he moves his hands, you get the "combing" interlaced artifact. Although he deinterlaced it, and it made it worse, and YouTube, computers, or LCD does not support interlaced.

  • Someone please just tell me which is better. no explanation please, just tell me :P

  • @Alchodog

... It's a personaly preference thing really. Watch both and see for yourself. If you can't tell the difference than it doesn't really matter.

  • skip to 0:01 to skip advertisement, thumb up if u agreeeee

  • @MeVersusDaWorldMW2 Thumbs down, because you said thumbs up.

  • @MeVersusDaWorldMW2 fuck you :D

  • @Shucaybias what the fuck bitch? go suck your mamas dick lil boy ill fuck you up

  • @MeVersusDaWorldMW2 Mama's dick wtf man youve lost it LOOOL½

  • you can only tell the difference between the two when the films slowed right down from what i know

  • 720p has a resolution of about 1600x900, while 1080p has a resolution of 1920x1200+. There is a big difference. Well, I'm not sure for 1080i but I think that the reason why tv in hd don't look all different betwen the two is because the image you get is in 720p, That would explain why you can't see the difference.

  • every time i search tech stuff Chris is the first video i find

  • im trying to read the comments and listen at the same time lol kinda hard

  • Hehe tv people xD I go for extreme HD which I like to call it, has a resolution higher than 1080p . Almost all movie don't use those resolution but I make animation and play videogame so I have lot of screen space to use.

  • @DarkAnimeWindSlayer Congratulations! You are my hero!

  • i use 720p with my xbox coz 1080 flickers alot....but 720p is still great! its good enough:)

  • In some videos that have interlaced video, I can see the lines, if the camera is moving rapidly, and there is no de-interlacing, enabled.

  • I still use a CRT, until it stops working.

  • Why is everything he says completely wrong?

    We need a better nerd....

  • 720p is better. When I was looking at my xbox dashboard it was king of blurry for the more detailed things and smaller thing when in 720 p it was slot more sharp and clear

  • @xarganian123 If you're not using an HDMI cable, then you can't have an 1080p image, its locked on 720p(Maybe unless you use a VGA cable, but I'm not sure) . If you are using an HDMI cable, then use 1080p, it has a way higher resolution. I've also ear that the Xbox without HDMI support, the early one, can't go further than 720p, no matter what settings you use.

  • @poliv67 Wrong 1600X900 is 900p. I should know. My laptop has the resolution.

  • yea he is gay, and his videos suck

  • i have bad eyes and i can tell the difference

  • NERD!

  • @GTAIVFan17 so who cares he has a wife and some think to do in his life like i do

    so shut up

  • 720p have progressive scan but on a 1080i/p TV or bigger resolutions it loss quality and 1080i is the same thing as 1080p but it have the flicker problem on moving images. example is in the Simpsons when Homer shakes the USA flag on an episode

  • get a new webcam that supports both of them

  • you guys are all pussies

  • Actually, 720p = 1280 x 720, 1080i = 1440 x 1080, and 1080p = 1920 x 1080.... 1080i are most common for HDV and it shoots at 1440 x 1080 and has an aspect ratio of 1.333 ... You can stretch it up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) with a ratio of 1.0, or, go down to 1280 x 720 (720p) with a ratio of 1.0. The 1.0 is square pixels. There you go.

  • @TheDerangedStudios 1080i = 1920 x 1080 too

  • @Thalesfreitas96 yes, because of the 2 field at 540. 540 x 2 = 1080...But 1080p is true HD at 1080 native fields.

  • dude u dont have neather .. so stfu and get em ooo but who the fuck wana watch u in wtf ur trying to explain .. yeah i know that was mean sorry :)

  • i am moving to a new house next week.. it is a good time to get an HD LCD TV.. i am used to CRT tvs but this time mi bro is sending me a ps3 .. i want the best gaming experience.. so i want to go HD.. anyway.. i will shop for it withl my father and my brother next week.. my fathers a bit of a cheapskate i really want to get a HD 32 INCHE TV.. please help me ... i need to know wat to do/say to change his mind ... reply me plzzz email me through sulua@hotmail.co.uk

  • @Statin7 show him part of a movie, or anything in 1080p. If he's used to watching standard def, he'll be blown away, and fork over some cash.

  • His description of interlacing is incorrect. He's talking about NTSC television screen draw rate of 60Hz as opposed to interlacing. The phenomenon occurs because the sampling rate/shutter speed of the camera are not synchronized with the display of the television. Smarter digital cameras can adjust the rate of it's own digital shutter to match a televisions scan rate to overcome this obstacle.

A better example of seeing interlacing would be to pause a VCR. Does anyone remember those?

  • wtf??? this is such a redundant question .. 720p = 1280x720

1080i = 1920x1080 which means their are more pixels to cover that tv of yours therefore the picture is sharper or clearer or w.e you wanna call it .. the smaller the tv you have the less you will be able to tell the difference .. unless your a perfectionist or something or sit there for like 10 mins like a retard trying to find it .. now if you REALLY wanna see a difference try 720p and 1080p yeah .. now there's a DIFFERENCE :)

  • its 3 years down the road!!!!!!!!!!

  • @suffernow97 now 4

  • @suffernow97 4 years beotch!!!!

  • "maybe about 3 years down the road" we are 3 years down the road right now!! and yeah, we had a lot of content in 1080p.

  • where can I buy an 8-track player?

  • no, seriously in 1080i i see the lines easy because the screen is big, it makes the image look like a ps2 game and is annoying.

  • The p stands for “progressive scan,” meaning that the TV set creates the image by continuously redrawing the frame, line by line. The i stands for “interlaced,” meaning that halves of the full frame are shown 60 times per second, but your eyes combine them into a full-frame image reproducing itself at a rate of 30 frames per second. At the same resolution, an image in progressive format looks better than an interlaced one.

  • he is sooo gay

  • @namssovproductions You've never heard the word nerd before? And kids like you always have to judge a book by it's cover? Good job! You won a mainstream moron award, kiddo.

  • @oohoohmelikey technically 1080p is better, but you can barely tell the difference with the naked eye

  • @namssovproductions

is there anything wrong with bieng gay

  • @Benedictninja yes.

  • @Benedictninja yes ! gay peaple are bad ! they all must die !!!

  • @mrjameshid i agree

  • you cant see the difference with the naked eye

  • @JayzBeerz Between 1080i and 720P you can't but between 1080P and the other two you can.

  • 1080i or any resolution with i . best example is this video. Check its hands thats how you can tell its interlaced. When moving fast you see bars on em.

  • what does the numbers 720,1080 stands for? thanks.

  • @younes727 They stand for resolutions. 720p is the resolution 1280x720 and 1080i is 1920x1280 I think.

  • @younes727 the resolution (the lines..)

    720 means: 1280x720 (or in VGA 1366x736).

    for 1080p is 1920x1080

  • 1080i VS 720p

1080i bigger screen format but flicker( you do not realize the problems in the image)

720p have progressive scan but in 1080p native have errors due the screen size

720p in native 1080i have errors due screen size and p/i diference

    1080i is better

  • Please someone tell me if this will work. Male HDMI hooked into PS3, to male DVI-D hooked to HD monitor. RCA audio (2 cables) from PS3 hooked into (female RCA --> female 3.5mm) adapter. Male 3.5mm plug from basic pc speakers goes into female 3.5mm to join RCA from ps3. USB for speakers stays in PC for speaker power. Sound right?

  • as you were saying around 3.00, three years from (2007) today 2010 we will have more 1080p stuff.. Did you see the future dude?

    I'm just curius :)

  • Thanks, I couldn't find a decent explanation of i vs p until now.

  • If you are watch to football or a action movie 1080i sucks... in the netherlands some HD channels broadcast in 1080i and it really sucks.... but for broadcast 720p you need more broadband.

btw, if you have a big tv (30 inch maybe), i'm sure you can see the difference between 720p and 1080p

  • Meh...it wasn't that many years ago that CRTs were the norm, so don't feel TOO old there Chris. :)

I really don't think it's possible to see the difference between 1080 and 720 until we start using much larger screen sizes -- at least 32" and up. I say this 'cause I never noticed the difference between 480 and 720 until I got my 24" monitor -- then it was REALLY noticeable lol.

  • @darkridr25 exactly in another video i said that the movement in movies etc makes the difference quite impossible to see. I have a current gen Panasonic 50" Plasma and i cant see the difference between 720p and 1080p when watching the same movie with these two resolutions. If one would be able to see a clear difference why is all the showcase material SLOWMO soccer games or still pictures?

  • @darkridr25 actually crt are way better than lcd. you get way better blacks, smoothed images and last way longer

  • @IlC4RL0SIl I never said they weren't, image-wise. Still, can you imagine having a 60" CRT TV in your house? the depth needed to house one would be roughly half the room ROFL! No, I'm glad our technology has enabled us to make our media with smaller footprints, and if we have to sacrifice a small amount of image quality, well then so be it.

  • Oh yeah and for everyone using a xbox360 on a HDready TV thats resolution is not 1280x720 but 1360x768 go buy a VGA cable forget HDMI or Component. Why? HDMI is digital which can never be better than Analog this is just marketing and is supposed to stop you from ripping movie streams etc. Component and VGA are analog but why choose VGA here? HDMI and Component cables will force you to use 1280x720 or 1920x1080i both is not 1360x768 and thus your TV has to resize (scale) the image = unsharp

  • I'd say this: chose your tv's resolution and if possible always choose P instead of I because the resolution is actually higher (but thats a bit complicated) If you have a 1360x768 TV which supports 1080i dont use 1080i because your TV has to resize (scale) the image and that makes the image blurrier and less sharp. The reason why HDready TVs have 1080i is coz most HD Channels broadcast in 1080i and if your TV wouldnt be able to receive this signal you would have a problem. (OUT OF RANGE)

  • 1080i is like plasma and 1080p is like lcd. i is interlaced right tat means more images at higher frequencys

  • @FarmedCars what? so is 720p laser and 720i crt? What the hell are you talking about?
