She can stay on pitch, but her tone is quite 'bright' and 'tinny'. Plus, the connotation of this song was meant to be much slower, much more emotional. She sang it like she was in a hurry to get on to the next song!  I have to say, I had high expectations, and I am a little disappointed.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was rushed. If you watch the behind the scenes videos, it was pretty cold, which also explains her tone. Listen to her recordings or her part in O, America - she sounds much better.

I love, love, love Lisa (as you can probably tell from my name). This song is just one of the best she sings. I love it so much. Pple talk about a perfect sound and when you hear it, you can't go back. That second "when" in "When your wounded when you don't belong." is one of those times with Lisa. Though there are several others as well.
