Toni was in Los Angeles (L.A.) for many years on the local KHJ Channel 9 and KTLA Channel 5 amongst many other jobs in the business. Thanks for the video, I don't often get to see images of my mother from those years let alone an actual video.
Bill was the jack of all trades at channel 17 back then.I know a lot of other people have said it but he inspired the Daily Show.I remember watching him one time on the morning news in Atlanta back in 1976 when he would do the news, drink his coffee cup and then eat the paper or styrofoam cup to get a laugh.I miss old low budget days of TV.
My Mom used to watch Let's go to the races every week! Do y'all remember in the mid 70s when Winn Dixie would give out scratch off cards with the number of a horse from that program?
It was cold in Atlanta back in the 1970's. i grew up in GA back then and remember how cold it would get. It just doesnt get that cold anymore even in winter.Must be Global Warming.
Lol, @3:43, Gwen Sommers, that's a blast from the past name. I actually was watching when she once uttered the words "oh s**t" when reacting to some confusion on the news set, her facial expression was priceless once she realized that she was still on air when she said it. Needless to say, she was canned after the untimely "slip of the tongue", lol...
Deng Xiaoping visited the White House Jan. 29, 1979, so there's the specific date for this clip. John Wayne died on June 11.
Look at that grin on Bill's face right after the weather slide... I think he just noticed the name Deng Xiaoping in his copy and he's trying not to laugh at the thought of "Dung." And I've never heard him called simply "Ping" before!
This appears to be a daytime update, and, unlike the infamous gag-laden overnight bulletins, apparently Tush played it straight on this one. Since I was a kid when WTCG did all this, I didn't get to stay up late nights and thus didn't know about the now-legendary 3 a.m. newscasts that were, in effect, stand-up comedy videos until many, many years later. I mainly remembered his skit-comedy show on what became WTBS in 1980-82.
What DIDN'T Bill Tush do at Turner? What a small budget operation back then. Love how the voice over on the Movie 17 cuts off the music. El cheapo. Awesome!
Notice the bumper sticker on the wall, near Bill's head...very classy. Fine tribute of the Duke by the comely Toni Holt. Wow! Freddy Creighton was coaching the Flames back then! Favorite line: "Dung will arrive in Atlanta on Thursday".

Anybody notice the sound of the circular saw right after he did the weather update at the beginning? Tush had a little grin on his face.
