Hawaii never had rats until captin cook and sailors came and brought them. So the government at the time decided to control the rat population. So they sent the Mongoose to the islands. Come to find out rats sleep at day and hunt at night. Mongoose sleep at night and hunt in the day. So insted of eating rats they ate the chickens. But the boat to kauai, harboring the mongoose was caught in a storm and the mongoose cage fell into the water. Kauai is the only island with no mongoose. MAHALO!
