  • Mine has no where near as much blue and it doesnt glow like yours neither. Does the lighting you have bring out the glow?

  • I bought a juvenile Firemouth today and put it in my tank (112 litre tank). As soon as i put him in he went up the back and floated to the top. So i got my net and moved it near him and he swam off perfectly fine, but now he's just behind my filter floating there not moving his fins. I don't get it my PH temperature is perfect 7.0 and 27 degrees. I recently put Stress Zyme and Melafix into the tank as well. Did your firemouth do this? Because I’ve read they can be timid.

  • Wow beautiful firemouth! I was wondering... Could I keep one or two firemouths with an oscar in a 75 gallon tank? If I could would it be best to have 1 or 2 firemouths? Female or male? or should I just stick with one Oscar? Also If you have any tips or firemouths that would be great!

  • @catsaretimtams that stocking sounds like it could totally work. What your going to want to do is find the largest FM's you can and then add a very small, very young oscar. It can be hard to find large FM's at pet stores, so get the largest ones they sell. Introduce them to the tank at the same time. The reason for getting larger FM's and smaller oscars is cuz oscars growth rate is twice as fast as a FM's, and will outgrow the fire mouth so you don't want an FM the will be small enough to eat

  • @catsaretimtams As for sex, well you could go with either one nice Male firemouth and the oscar, or 2 females (females will grow even slower and stay smaller), OR you could have a male and female firemouth...but, you will most likely see breeding action if you do that which could cause problems because the oscar will want the babies and the FM's will act quite aggressively towards the oscar. You could have a male and female and just remove any eggs that are laid if you don't want to deal with it

  • @BingX14 Thankyou so much for your advice! I think I will get just 1 male firemouth with the oscar! Oh and it turns out that I am soon to be getting a 761 gallon tank! So I think I will be getting many more oscars and firemouths in the future!

  • @catsaretimtams hey no problem! that sounds awesome make sure you throw a vid up when you get that massive tank! If you have anymore questions just let me know

  • @BingX14 Questions about what? If you know a lot about fish I would really like some advice on what to stock my tank with!

  • @catsaretimtams haha i thought we covered that? Aren't you going to go with 1 oscar and 1 male firemouth? Or are you talking about stockings for the massive tank you mentioned?

  • @BingX14 Massive tank... I know what to stock the smaller one with now :P Thanks

  • @catsaretimtams Have you thought about what kind of fish you want in there? like South American ciclids, Central American Cichlid, African cichlids, or other stuff?

  • @BingX14 I quite like the malawi and tanganican cichlids but I really haven't chosen a specific type :P I think I am kind of crowding up your video though :P Maybe we should start messaging?

  • @catsaretimtams good idea, send me a message when you get the chance

  • Parrots are disgusting, never should buy them.

  • adult firemouths are truely beatiful fish. they don't look like much when young but give them a year or two and they are really something.

  • How old is it?

    0:30 - 0:36

  • Absolutely beautiful firemouth! I'd be lucky if mine turned out half as nice!

  • @TBIES71 A Red Devil or a Jaguar Cichlid.

  • What do you feed it

  • @234Beastyboy Cichlid pellets from New Life Spectrum, Hikari, and Omega One. Along with Hikari Frozen Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp

  • your tank looks great what do you use for filtration?

  • My fire mouth is pretty colorful right now he is a male 4 inches but not as colorful as that beauty . Nice video

  • what kind of lighting do you use, your fishes coloures look amazing

  • That is the most beautiful firemouth I have ever seen.

  • @JamieT96 :D thanks ! Its amazing how she is more colorful than most Males that I have seen! Id say its rare that a female would look so colorful! I always thought that she was a male until she started laying eggs lol

  • damn thats a quality fish :)

  • @xsapx13 Thanks, shes a beauty :D

  • Beautiful Firemouth :). I have two myself..I'm still trying to figure out if I have males or females or a mix but one of mine has beautiful iridescent spots like yours does but the belly isn't as red. What kind of light are using to bring out her colors so much?

  • nice fish man, i just got one yesterday and been lookin up vids and urs is the best by far,,,i have a pair of big gt's a female convict and a male fire mouth in a 38gal,, i have this light from petsmart called aqua glow man its brings there colors out like crazy!!! urs would look insane with it..

  • thanks! its funny cuz usually the males are more impressive looking than the females but i guess i just got lucky with this girl :) and that a pretty cool fish stock you've got in your tank. Just be very careful for when the Green Terror Pair start spawning when they reach maturity cuz they will get very nasty towards the other fish. And in the future if you can, a larger tank would be great but if they are all still small now then it's no problem!

  • hey beautiful fish and tank. I would just like to know what do you feed your fish?

  • thanks! i feed them mainly Hikari cichlid staple + cichlid gold pellets, tetraMin tropical flakes + tetraMin algae crisps, Hikari Frozen Bloodworms + hikari frozen brine shrimp, and algae wafers. My firemouth eats pretty much anything, not a picky eater at all.

  • hes a beauty. Whats the lighting on your tank?

  • well suprisingly there isn't really anything special about the lighting its just a florescent bulb for tanks 55 and 75 gallon tanks. sorry thats one thing i don't know too much about like the different kinds of special lighting people use but this light seems to be working just fine. Oh and I've seen your Firemouth Meeki video, i saw it a while ago and thats what made me want go out and get this guy! he was about an inch when I got him

  • Actually I wanted to know the k-ratings on your fluorescent bulb. There are various kind of bulbs of varying intensity and kelvin ratings.

  • Beautiful. Nuff said

  • Thanks! yeah i love all of the iridescent hues and colorings he's got on him. Although he isnt the largest species in the tank (the parrot being the largest), the firemouth definitely rules the tank. But at the same time, he gets along great with all of the other fish both bigger and smaller. Firemouth cichlids = great fish
