I'm half scottish and half english, i know there are rivalries, but i've never heard of violence either physical or verbal, people are lovely in both countries and both have amazing lanscape and buildings :)
I always wanted to visit scotland since forever... but now Ive narrowed it down to a vacation to australia or scotland. Im not familiar at all with the customs/culture there. Are there many black visitors/residents? Not that that matters, but if not, what would it be like? I currently live in japan and I get stares all the time.. would it be like that or the norm like in england? thanks laddy : ) ha ha...or is that irish?
is this country one of them countries where you get killed for making fun of the leader? and is this country one of them anti-Christian/cut your head off and feed it to the dogs if your a Christian kinda country? Please can everyone stop bickering about England vs Scotland. Both have their good and bad. Personally I love Scotland as it has such a lot to offer and I can driver there easily enough from England. Go elsewhere and it'll cost double for less. Scotland is great, and so is England. Just a few minority idiots make them both sound bad. If you don't like it then you can always fuck off somewhere else so please do. I'm off to Scotland where I've met nice welcoming people.

You do realise that the English are largest group of immigrants to Scotland - comprising 10% of the population, plus many hundreds of thousands (if not millions more) English visitors every year. Most of whom have no problems whatsoever.

Melrose Abbey, the John Knox house, the Royal Mile, highland coo, the Wallace Monument, and the western islands...I love Scotland! (and thanks for using the Braveheart soundtrack, even though the movie isn't quite historically accurate :)
I would go to Edinburgh for fun, Edinburgh gets so many tourists its one of the most visited cities in the world. But can't say anything bad about Glasgow, i go there to visit friends quite alot. But Edinburgh is a great place.

@Quakeromal I'm Scottish and have just experienced -10 temperatures. However in the summer we usually see about 20 if we're lucky :)
