Gut SS so the poor can have access to it? What is that supposed to even mean? "Gutting" SS would mean taking all the money out of it. And the poor? Income level has nothing to do with who receives it. SS is a government controlled retirement fund that most everyone is forced to contribute to and therefor are entilted to benefits when they retire. In fact, the wealthier you are, the more you have contributed from your gross wages and are actually entitled to MORE of the benefits!

The US Constitution specifically prohibits congress from passing a Bill of Attainder which is a law that applies a penalty to an individual or small group without judicial action. The AIG tax measure seems to fit that description. The scary part is that the House passed the law. I'm sure the attorneys serving in the House and attorney staff members knew that clause in the Constitution and apparently didn't care. Or perhaps they're grandstanding. Hmmm

That is exactly what Congress did by passing this punitive tax on the AIG bonuses. This sets a precedent by which they can do that to ANYONE they don't like. This also sets the precedent for gov't abrogating lawful contracts under similar pretenses, which makes any contract vulnerable to gov't whimsy. ='[.]'=
