To be somebody you don't have to be famous. It takes a lot to achieve what this guy has whether you like his work or not. I think it is un called for to call him a nobody. It takes a lot of hard work.
Why the fuck would you fire Olivier Theyskens? He's very sought after, respected and famous, he has a great reputation and people love him. Why would you fire him and hire some nobody who sucks and nobody knows?????
@gradusm That's BS and we all know it, because Olivier had a sort of cult following much like Nicholas Ghesquiere, Hedi Slimane, Riccardo Tisci, Rick Owens...Now they hired an asshole that nobody knows who makes boring fucking clothes. Nina Ricci execs must have been on crack to make such a foolish decision!!
@rvggarcon i don't disagree that olivier is a very talented designer and that this a beautiful collection. But it is true that not enough people were buying his clothes and that these other designers you mention are also very talented. But they not able to compete with more comercial brands like louis vuitton, dior and prada ect. Alexander mcqueen is a good example of where he only started to make a profit in his last couple of years. How else could you explain firing such a talented designer.
@gradusm I agree, but firing him and hiring a nobody who makes mediocre clothes is not the answer. They could have expanded more into leather goods, accessories, and a more wearable/understandable pre-collection. I doubt the new designer has raised higher profits since Olivier left.
@rvggarcon the guy they hired is not a nobody just not established like the other designers you talk about. Peter Copping, 'enjoys a much lower profile in the industry; British born and a graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, he is an alumnus of Sonia Rykiel's studios and has spent a decade with Jacobs at Vuitton.' I guess the bosses thougth his asthetic fitted in with the old idea of Nina Ricci. Plus not good relationship with theyskens
Omg some of those models are sooo skinny omg ha its a little scary that their super skinny kinda looks unhealthy and not pretty to be honest like their pretty but then i see those stick legs and it makes me sick :/ but the clothes are cool except u cant wear them anywhere. Look at their shoes lol how do they walk in those things omg i would get so scared.
2 - ... ms. rundlof (also in the new stern forbidding bunch), ms. kazakova (launched at prada spring 09, hasn't looked back), ms. pedaru (vies with ms. vilkeviciute for loveliest smile), the startling and brand new ms. loos (another skye stracke/elsa sylvan/tanya d.??), the very great ms. poly, ms. kloss (spot the walk a mile away), the great ms. noorda (a little like ms. tollerod and equally omnipresent), the very-fast-rising ms. spears, the absolutely-gorgeous ms. belikova,
so many astonishing models - the brand new ms. aida aniulyte, the classic ms. ellingson, lovely ms trublaska, the very striking ms bauwens, the superb ms sherer, the coy ms pilipenko, the immensely-popular ms kharlapanova, the i'm-stern-i'm-everywhere ms. strubegger, the gorgeous ms. ritland, the glorious and omnipresent ms struss, the i-look-40-going-on-20 ms tsyganenko, the wondersul stalwart ms tollerod, the epic ms. sylvan (see her in Ruffian!),
this was one of the top collections of the fall - the shoes are a distraction but an intentional one - the great ms. mower properly remarked how his last show will cause nina ricci to regret allowing the great mr. theyskens to escape them - where will he go now? succeed mr. lagerfeld at chanel???
did anyone else notice that Magdalena Frackowiak (red dress at the end) rocks those shoes better than anyone else? everyones a bit stumpy and she's just struttin' like they're nothin! it makes me laugh - i love her now.
those boots are sick!! they are genius with the pants and leggings, especially the sheer wide-leg trousers. however, horrible-looking with evening gowns. way too matchy-matchy with the jewel tone dresses and the proportions are all off

Magdalena seems so quiet walking those awful shoes at 1:57
she dominates them, not like the other models who look afraid to fall

What is the music? It fits with the trance theme and makes the shoes look a bit more elegant, somehow.
