I remember finding this album in my dad's collection when I was 12 and I listened to the first few tracks and I thought I'd been landed in Fantasia (Neverending Story anyone?). I'm not from the 80s, but I knew gold when I found it! The world is my oyster......
@Jermyn78 -You are a pathetic Maneuver-ManUuuo fan...get a life...if it was because of the music and art coming from Mersyside you were still singing Thomas Eakins...you are jealous of Liverpool's eternal love...LFC supporter from Glendale, CA.
The Business is a 2005 British drama/crime/gangster film written and directed by Nick Love. The film stars Danny Dyer, Tamer Hassan and Roland Manookian It also stars Geoff Bell and Georgina Chapman. The plot of The Business follows the Greek tragedy-like rise and fall of a young cockney's career within a drug importing business run by a group of British ex-pat fugitive criminals living on the coast of the Costa del Sol (aka the "Costa del Crime") in Spain.

I would be pretty disappointed if the Pleasure Dome is some sort of Medieval Faire and a ghetto Cirque du Soleil show. Maybe Holly Johnson had such fun at the real Pleasure Dome (i.e. the banned version of Relax video) and got lost when trying to go back there with his boys despite using a helicopter and map.
@sonicmoremusic1 agreed.. they could do no wrong. Well in front of their time.. the gay thing turned the public against them which was a shame.. but with AIDs hitting the streets, it was a dirty word... love this track and the album.
@BigSeanP i still have the vinyl album and have to say still sounds brillant now, and i'm not a 80's tragic most of my music is from the 90's to now, my brother brought it from the uk when i was 10, when he died i listened to it again and shit it still sounds really fresh even now.
great bassline.. I remember a pisstake in the spitting image annual calling the second frankie album 'welcome to the same album as last time' anyone else remember this?
Love the opening credits of 'the business' with Frankie being driven along the coast line with the marina, posh apartments and glorious spanish beaches in the shot and Welcome to the Pleasuredome playing over the top, encapsulates the whole decade.
AHHH BRILLIANT , WATCHED " THE BUSINESS " LAST NIGHT AND IT BROUGHT ME RIGHT BACK , REMEMBER BUYING THE ALBUM WHEN IT CAME OUT AND IT BLEW MY MIND , PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER , DROVE THE OULD FELLA MENTAL. , CLASS.
I love that Ron Hardy used to play this song, on repeat, for extended periods of time while the crowd grew in the Music Box. Damn I wish I partied with those crazy mthrfckrs....
Brings back happy memories of being off School with flu in April '85. Music was great then, at the good end of 1985, not the crap Whitney Houston and A-ha end of '85.
this track is genius, its complex on so many levels, yet can be a simple listen if you want it to be, it scales to what you want to hear, plenty of hidden layers to be sought out!
Lol I first heard this in the movie "Toys". I'm talking, like, nearly 20 years ago. I loved it in that film and went away satisfied that the compser, Hans Zimmer, had created it.
I had NO idea that an actual musical group had put it together, and years earlier no less. This is awesome.
@AngryNewAger I like this better than the live version concert in which Ryan Mallory did the lead vocals at Trevor Horn's 25th anniversary show.Holly did a very job than Ryan.
There's something not quite right about that Pleasuredome. I have a bad feeling that Frankie and the gang might be wishing they'd stayed back at the club that night.
I remember hearing this at a party in the 80s, thinking how strange but groovy it was. And that was the 13-minute album version. This video is kinda strange, like many 80's videos.
