actually the device your missing is an auto sear so the hammer doesnt come foward with the bolt it must come after the bolt carrier is locked it place to strike the firing pin with enough force to ignite the primer. i am also an ak owner my shit is straight it isnt rocket science it is mechanics and physics. i didnt want to have to go off and explain it but you made me u happy now

No. Saiga is basically the same as any other AK variant as far as the receiver and internals go. They are the only truly Russian made AKs being imported into the US. Because of that, they have to be imported in a "sporter" config. which is why they have a reg. rifle stock instead of a pistol grip. The FCG is also moved rearward to accomidate that. Some people modify them by moving the FCG forward and putting a pistol grip on it. The Saiga 12 came after the rifles

The weight of the gun itself is enough to overcome the trigger pull, and since the only hand you have on the gun while firing 2 at once is the one on the trigger, and to stop the gun from falling you must grip the gun, which might cause an inexperienced shooter to pull the trigger or they may try to catch it with the trigger finger. btw, the gun doesnt recoil down, it recoils up and to the right, where the bystanders were. an experienced shooter would know that.

My own personal theory is as follows: For example, the reason there is so little crime in Vermont could be largely due to the fact that gun laws are so relaxed there, no pistol permits, open carry, so on so forth. So, if you're a crook planning on holding up a 7-Eleven or something, it would be quite a deterrent for you to consider that everyone in the store could potentially draw down on you. I wouldn't try it.

The SKS is a heavy gun, and he was working hard to hold it straight. since the only hand he was holding the gun with was the one that fits into the trigger, it would have been really easy to squeeze off a stray round in the wrong direction. which would only have been a couple more inches.

Also, any sks owner should know that the firing pin is prone to sticking when it is not spotlessly clean which can lead to slamfiring, which is where the round fires as soon as the bolt closes without pulling the trigger. this pretty much turns the gun fully automatic, and the shooter is in for the duration of the magazine. very dangerous. wouldn't want to think about what would have happened if that occured here.
