  • Will Kluson-type tuners fit into my PRS SE headstock?

  • what is that material you use to not ruin the guitar when you push the bushing in?

  • I need to remove the bigger bushing on my MIM jazzmaster and put in adapter bushing for my klusons. Afraid of removing the bushings

  • what can you use instead of tag board?

  • Great video. Where do you get a chamfer reamer like that? Most I see are much wider.

  • Hey, nice vid! I'm about to buy applause strat copy from my friend, but it's missing one tuner. Can you say if I can buy a single tuner of kluson for example, or do I have to buy all 6? This vid will probably be great use for me if I decide to buy it

  • Hey great video! What can I use instead of the "circuit board" to protect the neck from damage?

  • Hi! I dropped in the tuners but the don't stay perfectly in line and there's a small room between some of them. do you think this could affect in anyway?

Thanks a lot and greetings from italy

  • @78atal I'm not sure...can you send me a photo..?? Send me an email and I will try to help.. -Billy

  • my bushings are too small and move around in the holes. does that mean they wont work?

  • @justjoe032 How much do they move around? Allparts makes Adaptor Bushings to make for the difference for some large tuner holes. -Billy

  • @300guitars its about 1/16 of an inch loose i'd say. like thats the distance of the gap. i dont know about radius or any of that stuff. all i know is that the holes are 10mm and can fit 10.5mm tuners?

  • @300guitars its about a 1/16 inch gap from bushing to the wood. i know the holes are 10.5mm and fit 10mm tuning knobs. i assume the bushings i have are a little smaller than that

  • @justjoe032 You need the Allparts adaptor bushings. They fit in a 10mm hole and have inside diameter for old style Kluson tuners: TK-0900-001 - Adaptor Bushings Nickel. They come in gold as well. That's the fix my friend..!! -Billy

  • @300guitars wow thanks a ton! do you work for them?? haha jk

  • @justjoe032 Nope....I just like helping people..!! I have a ton more info on my 300guitars site if you are interested. Hit me up any time..!! -Billy

  • @300guitars Hi! I have question. I've just ordered a telecaster neck from a website. The holes for my bushings are just a little bit to small. I would like to have a tool like the one you used in the beginning of the video, but what's the name of that tool? //Simon

  • I ordered Kluson tuners for my tele neck and the bushings will slide right in with out any effort and they spin a little bit. I dropped $40 on ebay for them, so is this BAD? I dont really wana be out 40!???

  • @bearsafetyus How loose are they? Are they very sloppy in the headstock holes? -Billy

  • @300guitars Yah! I put them in there and flip the neck over to put the peg in and they fall on the floor. It wouldnt take much to snug them in.. but I dont know how?! I have been told maybe use a shim like a toothpick or maybe even a little glue? What would you think?!???

  • @bearsafetyus I would try either teflon plumbers tape or some masking tape around the bushing knurls. I have done this in the past and it works. Let me know how it goes... -Billy

  • I want that neck. were do you get a fender neck like that/

  • @gibsonjammer1 It is an Allparts neck. The really large size model. I shot it with nitro lacquer and did the assembly for a good friend of mine. -Billy

  • i love fender necks :)

  • thankz Billy !!! they did work out !!! its always nice to learn new things !!!

  • Cool!!! Please feel free to hit me up at any time!! -Billy

  • dude i know,i was just messin with ya.....

  • Great, thanks. Now I have a left hand complex, may have to wear a glove on it and probably will be self-conscious in public for life.....! LOL!!

  • i dont want to put my A tuner where the b tuner should go , i know this may be odd but this is my first time upgrading tuners

  • From the information I have found these are just like old style Kluson tuners and all the tuners between the two E tuners are the same. the only think I would look for is if the shafts are different heights. Then I would make the highest ones toward the low E and shortest toward the high E. Let me know how it goes! -Billy

  • hey there billy i has a question regarding kluson tuners i recently ordered some klusons TPKF6BL Series Tuners (locking tuners) when i opened the box they came in i droped them all on the floor and i dont know the order to install them , since they have marks on the bottom such as ,1 ,3,C,C i instally them the 1st and 6th tuner because they are obvious to find out where they go but the other ones i have no clue , could you please help me find out which order they go on

  • nice vid,but please cut you fingernails

  • Ha! I keep the nails on my right hand long for my hybrid finger-picking. Been keeping them long for many years. -Billy

  • Great video, even though you have made your own tools for the jobs you need them for, but did you know you can purchase what is called a Pin Vise? I am a model railroader as well as a part time Luthier and the pin vise has become one of my most important tools for both model trains and guitar drilling needs. What it is , is a small hand held drill that has a swivel on the one end and you turn it with your fingers. It handles bits from about a number 64-80. They only sell for about 6 or 8 bucks!

  • Thank you so much

  • Hey Billy, great video. I was wondering, does fender sell necks? Or do you buy them off eBay? Or Is there a guitar shop that creates them. I am wondering because my 1997 California series strat's headstock cracked from temperature I think. Is there some procedure that can be done to fix this?

  • There are many companies that make replacement necks. My personal favorite company is Musikraft. Headstock shapes are correct and they do all the details right. Do a search and check them out.

  • Hi , Great video!! I have a CS Strat with Sperzel tuners installed at the factory. I really regret requesting these. I want the "vintage" look. Would it be a major job to swap them out for say Fender F-style tuners or vintage Gotoh tuners? Thank you very much!

  • This can totally be done. You will need what they call "conversion bushings" which press into the headstock. You can get them from Allparts. They are oversized as compared to the originals and make up the distance for the old larger bushings. Let me know if you need more info. -Billy

  • Hey Bud,I was looking too upgrade my stock tuners on a schecter 006 diamond series, can I use the grover minis, the hole for the minis should be .391 will that work on my neck or do I have to drill, and what if the hole on my neck is too big then what do I do?? Your help would b greatly app.-Tommy

  • Hi Tommy- What tuners are on your guitar now, Kluson type like in the video? You will have to drill or ream preferably to fit the Grover minis. Hit me back and let me know. -Billy

  • Billy, the tuners on my schecter are almost identical too the grover minis, they have the mount screw offset at like 4oc.on the one side and 8oc on other. They are schecter tuners. Thanks for the comeback;-} PS-I should b gettig them in the mail today,so I`ll let u know.

  • Can you get that remer at any hardware store or how do you get it? I've an old hofner archtop acoustic guitar and I'm doing some work on it. The holes at the headstock for the bushings don't fit and I don't know if the remer would work depends on the type of wood the guitar I'm working on. Thanks.

  • Yes, the reamer can be purchased in a hardware store or Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. In your case you may need to drill the holes to the larger size. It is hard to say without seeing the guitar. Be careful!!

  • I will thanks Billy al look out for the reamer.

  • Thanks so much. I need to install classical tuners which are an odd size spacing of 40mm as opposed to the standard 35mm and need to make new holes for the tiny screws since I couldn't get an exact lyre style replacement tuners. I thought I'd need a small Dremel hobby type drill but it looks like you're using a standard hand power drill.

  • I used my light duty Makita battery drill. Just tape off the bit so you don't drill through.
