  • JAKE! I LOVE this guy!

  • The way Ritchie scrambles with the characters taking one excerpt from Holmes and combining it with another one from the books, like the Holmes catchphrases and plays hide and seek with the characters like Moriarty and Adler is pathetic. Mary Morstan is just showoff. As a Holmes fan, I feel like banging my head against the wall after watching this movie. Thats the same I felt when I watched a dozen movies on Holmes before Ritchie. Only god knows why nobody gets iit right for Holmes.

  • I totally agree with cartoonlove9. Guy Ritchie could have named it " My Sherlock Holmes" rather than just Sherlock Holmes. He has turned Holmes into a superman in these movies. While books and cinema are two different mediums, yet there should be at least some resemblance between the movies and the books apart from the character names. The movies based on Holes before Ritchie are even worse and that's what comes to rescue these movies which is a reprehensible ripoff.

  • The BBC Sherlock is more loyal to the books... and thats frikin adapted and based in the twenty first century! every detail of the book an episode is based on is thought about cleverly... Its the best thing on tv at the moment :) let me know what you think :)

  • Haha. Guy Richie, a british diretor... and whats he doing... why hes holding a cup of tea of course! :)

  • Can somebody explain to me why are the top rated comments doing bad criticism to this film? If you don't like it, don't watch it. I have read Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, and still loved this film, Guy's an incredibly amazing director and that's what good directors do, not just take the book and make it a script and "all done", Guy gave his touch to the story and made it amazing, bringing Mary between them it was such a great idea for it brings fun to the story, it is a comedy/action/adventure

  • @DCLsMusic Homophobes who don't like the friendship being important. And Brett purists who don't realize how far from the canon it reached. I'm a big fan of the Brett series, but there are emotional nine year olds who can't accept any perspective other than their own as being acceptable.

  • 1:00 lol i love it when jude says "Exactly!"

  • I love the books and I do love this movie. They are different, but I love them both.

  • @AwkwardLizard 100% with you!

  • haha "idear"

where the hell is that r coming from?!

    british ppl speak funny! lol

  • the angrier you get the more people are gonna enjoy the movie you know...man, whew, what a thrilling film...

  • there's a bunch of different books of sherlock holmes, now it would be different if there were just ONE single book you must be faithful to but there isn't so...

  • @zendojo3 talking about spelling , u stupid asshole, everyone types randomly in utube making comments. no one shows his skills over english language while commenting on utube. if u want to really talk about my spellings so seriously, then u shouldn't ignore ur lack of knowledge on when to use capital letters and when not to. like u type i and not I. so u have raped urself while trying to point me which further proves my point that u too donot give much thought while typing in utube.so STFU.

  • @cartoonlove9 hahaha! spelling is singular....you went to STF University? THAT explains why you are unable to spell...

  • @cartoonlove9 hahaha! spelling is singular....you went to STF University? THAT explains why you are unable to spell...

  • @cartoonlove9 hahaha! spelling is singular....you went to STF University? THAT explains why you are unable to spell...

  • how does jake make money

  • hahaha jude, EXACTLY!

  • Conclusion-Ritchie has totally ripped apart one of the finest literary creations of all time.He could have just made an action movie based on Victorian era.But he could not help himself. He borrowed name Sherlock Holmes to sell the film and in the process has betrayed Doyle and has literally raped his work.Law and Downey are just goodlooking handsome guys who have no idea as to what characters they are playing.Movies are invariably a departure from canon but this outrageous rape is not accepted.

  • @cartoonlove9 Aw... You are so sad. xD

Do you really not have anywhere else to spew garbage?

Don't watch the videos/movies which Guy Ricthie made then?

    Q-Q

  • @cartoonlove9 dude, just shut up and watch your cartoons, rugrat!

  • @cartoonlove9 Conclusion: you are a troll, over here trying to annoy the crap out of Ritchie fans. In fact, as fast as you're typing, you might be a bipolar person. Hey, you're not a troll. Hi, RDJ, love you in the movie and think you're funny as hell when you do stuff like this. :)

  • @melarry u r an ignorant who never read the original stories and only know Holmes by name and have never cared to go through the pages even once. Conclusion- u r just a fan of action flicks and don'y really care much for literary masterpiece. I don't care what u think or what u say. hey, wait may be u r the illegitimate son of guy ritchie who was the reason why madonna left guy. i bet u r just trying to defend ur father's product of rape which he made for his personal amusement.

  • @cartoonlove9 I have read all of the original stories. In fact, I've written a published pastiche. I'm also bipolar so I recognize a bipolar person when I read this. Sitting around waiting for the baby to be born is kind of stressful. I love you, and I wish you and Susan (and Jude, too) the best on the new production. Thanks for the exchange.

  • @melarry that u r bipolar was clear from the beginning. infact after ur imaginative exchange, i am now sure that u r also psychopath. but bipolars imagine others to be like him as well, so ur claim comes to me as no surprise. u r disabled for life and u like to see others like u. what will a psychopath know about Sherlock Holmes? anyways, have a life, psychopath and get good medication.

  • @cartoonlove9 LOL, Robert. you're hilarious! One, psychopaths aren't insane, they simply don't have a conscience. Medication won't help them nor will therapy. Bipolar folk are the opposite, in fact, of psychopaths. This has been lots of fun, but I have to fly. My best to Susan and the new little Downey.

  • Holmes is not Bruce Lee. He was a master in Boxing but he never used his muscles and physicality to solve cases. He never threw punches, neither did Watson throw punches. In the movie , the two use their physicality more than their brains. They are both running all the time. Mary Morstan was married to Watson in the Sign of Four. Holmes and Watson never grew any complex over this. In the movie Ritchie have needlessly complicated relationship between Holmes,Watson by bringing Mary between them.

  • @cartoonlove9 read the books and please do not watch any films until you have read all the books! do not disobey or you will be grounded!

  • @cartoonlove9 i have read the books and agree that the movie and the books are different but thats the thing. and even guy himself has said it's a DIFFERENT ITERPRATATION of sherlock holmes. a different look at it. if you like the books better thats fine but this isn't a bad movie it's a great movie it's just different.

  • @maddog2335 yes.

  • @maddog2335 Exactly!!! I'm surprised people is so "oh.. Conan Doyle didn't write it this way.." blah blah! Of course not.. this is Guy's interpretation of the story and it's great!! It reminds me of that stupid woman saying that if they were trying to make Watson and Holmes look gay she wouldn't allow the rights for another film.. it is hilarious! Just let people be! and if you don't like it, don't watch it and don't bother... aarrghht!

  • @cartoonlove9 I don't know which irritates me more -- people complaining the films draw TOO much from the stories or too little. They're films. This interpretation is more accurate than most -- and just an interpretation which itself shouldn't be attacked.

  • @melarry totally disagree with u. the films before that were made on sherlock holmes were all rubbish. if u r making a movie on well established literary series, you shouldn't just throw the books out in the garbage can, which is what Guy Ritchie has done. His interpretation is a RAPE to Conan Doyle's work. Apart from Granada's Jeremy Brett Tv series, all other visual adaptations of Sherlock Holmes including Ritchie's movies are garbage. I'm glad people have agreed with me.

  • The saddest part is those who actually haven't read Holmes stories and still After watching the movie, if anyone reads the stories, he/she will fall from the sky to the ground. Because they will hardly get any link from the movie and eventually will be disappointed. Irene Adler appeared in Scandle in Bohemia and never reappeared again in Holmes life. After watching the film everyone would be confused as how Adler works for Moriarty. The two characters have no connection what so ever canonwise.

  • @cartoonlove9 i don"t think you actually read at all since you don't know how to SPELL Scandal which means you've never pciked up a book, have you?

  • The saddest part is those who actually haven't read Holmes stories and still have seen the movie will get a totally wrong impression on Holmes. They will assume Holmes into something that he is not. Just borrowing a few catch phrases from the canon like Because I was looking for it, I cant make bricks without clay, The game is afoot, Ritchie pretends to be loyal to canon where as in reality his selection from canon is totally disjointed, disoriented.

  • @cartoonlove9 do not watch any cartoons also until you've finished your broccoli!

  • This movie is what Guy Ritchie wants Holmes to be rather than what Holmes really is. Apart from Jeremy Brett's Granada TV Production of Sherlock Holmes no one has done justice to visual adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. This Ritchie film totally portrays Holmes in what he is not. He shold have named this movie- GUY RITCHIE'S SHERLOCK HOLMES'. rather than 'SHERLOCK HOLMES'.

  • @cartoonlove9 you've obviously never heard of reimagining, have you? if i wanted the book story, i would (gasp) READ the Book!

  • @zendojo3 i have a problem of raping a canon. reimagining should not be a rape.

  • @cartoonlove9 and i have a problem with your flagrant misspelling of words...spelling should not be a rape to my eyes...I'm happy though that you are a loyal and fierce reader, it does help, trust me, with spelling, my friend.

  • @zendojo3 becoz i have read all Holmes stories several times way more than u can fathom, my knowledge over Holmes right down to every last detail is way more than u can comprehend , i can only understand that u r only trying to hit on the wrong guy desperately. it happens. its like telling Tiger Woods that he cant play golf. anyways i know these silly child like psychologies that goes on in ignorant parasites like u who have been abject failures in everything they ever tried to do.i feel for u.

  • @cartoonlove9 LOL! what is there to fathom, my friend? did it really take you several times to TRY to read a book? i feel for YOU...hope you get the words right soon...so you can read your favorite book, finally.

  • by the way u must be Guy Ritchie's illegitimate bastard son right? The reason Madonna left him when he got caught.Given the way u try so desperately to defend ur father's rubbish product just convinces me of ur identity.U were born as a result of rape.It is only obvious why u want to defend ur father's rape over Doyle's creation.poor guy, ur mom must have abandoned u as well.go back to ur dad,eat popcorn and watch his shitty movie -SH, an excuse of a Doyle adaptation.make up for lost time.

  • @cartoonlove9 you've a very very excitable imagination, perhaps it would be fair to say that you need a friend or maybe more than that to say it's okay, it's not the end of the entertainment world, as mcuh as it may feel that way....now if you don't mind, i shall be off to rent a thoroughly enjoying film called Sherlock Holmes, care to join? you know I've never heard of this sherlock holmes, i hope he kicks ass in the books too! HaHa!

  • @zendojo3 if u care to watch ur comments to me, u will see u have made mistakes in spelling. hope much is not spelt as mcuh. i hope that will just put to rest all ur silly boasting about ur speciality and ur skills over spelling power and english language at large. as i have said, u want to watch this garbage trash movie with ur father Guy, no problem, go ahead. i couldn't care less. It will be a good reunion and i hope it works between u two before he rapes someone else and makes another baby.

  • @cartoonlove9 i think you might be the baby of it all...this movie was made exactly JUST FOR YOU! and it will be around long after you....long after....and a sequel too! and who will you be?

  • @zendojo3 YAWN....YAWN......YAWN.....YAWN.

  • @cartoonlove9 LOL!

  • @cartoonlove9 psst wake up, the sequel is showing soon! YES!! time for you to hide in you cave for this one...unless you'd like to join us going out to the theaters, huh, buddy? cmon, let's see the film!

  • @zendojo3 ok. Now I actually like these films. Did you ever expect me to say such a thing ? I think I would like to watch this film.

  • @zendojo3 Because I dont care for the books any more. I now condone Rape, burglary, stealing, molesting and snatching other's property. So I no longer care if they are faithful to the books or not. Huh must be a shock for u to see me going from one extreme to another ?? Yeah, it is true.

  • @cartoonlove9 hahaha, glad to hear it, friend! Wait, sherlock holmes is a book??!!

  • @zendojo3 LOL.

  • @zendojo3 nope. its a comics.

  • @cartoonlove9 HAHA. then what happens when sherlock holmes meets iron man? who will robert downey jr play then?

  • @zendojo3 he will play both obviously. hopefully everyone watch them and then there should be another one- sherlock holmes meets batman then sherlock holmes meets spider man then sherlock holmes meets super man then sherlock holmes meets hit man then sherlock holmes meets wonder woman then sherlock holmes meets lady godiva. i will love them all and hopefully all will be great hits. i adore them all.

  • @cartoonlove9 LOL. LOL. LOL. "adore them" did you say? brilliant!

  • @zendojo3 SHERLOCK HOLMES is the worst big budget screen adaptation and a reprehensible rip off of one of the finest piece of literary creation of all time. u like it becoz u dont know Holmes. Read the stories after watching and be disappointed haha as u wont get any match. no matter how much u would like to read Holmes kick ass in the stories physically, u wont find it anywhere, haha.

  • @zendojo3 so go back to ur dad's movie which he made for his personal amusement and pray to god to bring Doyle back from the grave and change his stories to make them more familiar with the film, haha. poor guy, u must have wanted that to happen so bad but it wont happen. hey, u might ask ur dad to write Holmes.ask him to bring Holmes in 2015.Get Holmes married and have children, Change Holmes residence from London to New York.i dont care what he does. rape is the only thing he is good at anyway

  • @cartoonlove9 and maybe you actually DO like the idea of it all, SEE? you're IMAGINING the stories! hahaha...hahahah

  • @zendojo3 anyways, i feel i am wasting my time in responding to u. u r not worth it. so get off my back and dont bother answering back. adios.

  • @zendojo3 this is just one of my several usernames , stupid. i donot make usernames keeping my interests in mind. got it?

  • @zendojo3 ignorant parasites like u who wants to make sherlock holmes grow wings and fly throwing the originals to garbage are a disgrace. it clearly shows lack of respect. so stay way u piece of sheet. plz shut ur foul-smelling holes and watch ur usual routinely pornography and stay away from sherlock holmes. u donot deserve to talk about it.

  • @cartoonlove9 maybe YOU watch too much porn since you obviously don't know how to spell, much less read a perfectly good book, Sherlock Holmes. Maybe you just don't want to read the actual books and you want the movie to do it for you? it's not gonna be the books....it's called sherlock holmes not a specific title, then that means they would have to do the exact story, man! movies are a DIIFERENT MEDIUM! there was no subtitle so it's up to the makers of the film to make it what they will!

  • @zendojo3 As for choosing Sherlock Holmes in a different medium, I have got a big problem when the actors of the movie in this interview so falsely claims that the movie is very much like the books. and indeed some ignorant people who only know holmes by name and r actually fans of Downey and Law and have no knowledge over Holmes at all believe that to be the case. If u make an action film based on Victorian era, I have got no problem but using the legendary Holmes name to sell it is sick.

  • @cartoonlove9 i see, i see what you mean, then. Yes, you are passionate about remaining ultra-faithful to the book and that's great! i have had that kidn of experience with fvorite characters and, yes, you are completely entitled to your own opinion, and voicing it, but you can do so without really getting too mad, can't you?

  • I thoroughly dislike the film. It has totally used the cult name of Sherlock Holmes to sell the movie. I know there are only four novels on Holmes and two of them have been made in celluloid repeatedly. The Sign of Four and Hound of Baskervilles. Others are a list of 56 short stories. The short stories cant be stretched into films. Hence directors and screen writers over the years have moved away from the canon to make their own stories but in the process have created mostly garbage.

  • i love how Robert cant go though an interview without touching jude in some way..

  • EXACTLY! :L

  • A total ripoff of the original canon. This movie is a rape to originals. It is a slap on the face of Doyle.

  • @BornForAirwaves Shut up stupid bloody bastard byproduct of street dog semen. No one asked u to have street sex with your bitch mom but u still do it as u r a serial street rapist.u rape ur mom as well as other animals in the street. I say what I want to say. It is because of nasty filthy foulsmelling assholes like u that destroys this wonderful creation of Doyle. What will u understand of Sherlock Holmes. Have u ever read them, u stupid ass.All u care about is some funny action movies.

  • @BornForAirwaves That was most unfair. Everyone has the right to express their opinion. Everything can be appreciated and criticized at the same time. Everything has both merits as well as demerits. It is a public website. You do not have the authority to tell anyone to say words that you would like to hear. You take the good with the bad. I also thought that this movie is a reprehensible rip off and has ridden roughshod over Doyle by taking it way too far from the originals.

  • 6:42

  • I'd like to ask Guy why he chose an American to play a classic English part?...RDJ was superb as Sherlock Holmes but surely it was a risk regarding accents and an "Englishness" being portrayed correctly...Superb film, superb casting, superb soundtrack, superb director.

  • @BritAU2TH It was a risky move, but it certainly payed off, RDJ's accent was flawless.

  • @sweeneysgirl324 - it sure did

  • i cant wait for the second one!

  • aw Guy is drinking tea...:)

  • I've watch the movie, at least 7 times... and I'm NOT tired of it! At all! :D

  • This movie is fucking awesome, one of my favs

  • I'm in love with this interviewer. :P

  • I don't understand what Jude Law says from 1:45 to 1:50. My English is so poor... :( Can somebody help, please?

  • @foreshortened He says "obviously, at the heart of the legend is this incredible cerebral ... genius", if you want the exact wording. If you want to know what he means, he's saying that basically the story of Sherlock Holmes and Watson is based on their intelligence.

    I hope this helped. :-)

  • @akwardgalapagostrtle

Indeed! That was so nice of you, thank you very much!! ;-)

  • This movie is so fricken' amazing...

And umm... I ever see that scene with Sherlock and Adler, you know, her dressed in that tutu dress and stuff... That's weird... Did they cut it out?

  • if this wasn't based on Sherlock Holmes, the reviews would be great. The only reason why the reviews are negative, is because they changed Sherlock Holmes.

The deserved better reviews, 'cause this movie is AMAZING. i love it.

  • @arkaakaas

Everyone who watched the movie really like it and everone told me I should go and see it. Only the critics in the newspapers were negative. And I also think that many fans of the original books were disapointed because it's different.

But it's still a kick-ass movie, so who cares? ;)

  • classy men - the 3 of them :)))

  • I am in love with this movie <3

  • Exactly!!

  • @arkaakaas The reviews were negative (in my opinion-but I enjoyed the movie) because the movie changed Sherlock Holmes. Doyle's Sherlock was tidy and methodical and.. um ... clean. Maybe the reviewers didn't like this... I don't know.. Anyway, this movie was great!

  • i love robert's surprise face when the interviewer says its his first time in london. I want to go!

  • Danm the dude talks fast and Robert made that movies amazing and ofcourse Jude and guy richie put a new view on sherlock holmes , he bad assed it :-P ILY RDJ

  • Robert Downey Jr is such a fabuluos actor! I am so glad he was able to get his life back on track and make such cool as hell movies!

  • I am so glad Robert Downey Jr has sorted himself out now and seems to be getting on, he is a great actor to watch.

  • I think Jude is 10 times hotter with a mustache. For sure. And Robert is 10 times hotter with stubble.

  • @EmLeahlie

    Stubble, yes. Pornostache? No.

  • jeez, slow down sweetheart.

  • I like the deleted scene where irene adler kicks sherlock in his nuts!! It was realy funny ;)

  • your enthusiasm is adorable.

  • seen it gr8 movie best ending

  • Robert Downey Jr. is hot.

    That is all.

  • xDDDDD

omg I kept thinking that it's robert's arm around jude's arm until robert started moving/flailing his arms around

  • @Bifi991 I don't think that means what you think it means.

  • can someone try to re-upload this video, cuz it won't play. thanks in advance.

  • I , to be completely honest, was in love with Sherlock Holmes before I watched the movie. I had recently started reading it and one day said to my dad "... I want to watch Sherlock Holmes." So we got it on demand and I absolutely loved it. It put just a little twist. But it stayed true to Holmes' method of deduction WITHOUT the long cloak and deerstalker cap we've all come to think of when we hear "Sherlock Holmes"

  • I like the way this guy interviews, subsubsub

  • This was a very well executed interview. Kudos. :D

  • im sorry, i mean i loved this film and ofcourse robert, but guy richie youre a bit of a meat head arent you ?

  • i like waffles

  • What the fuck does he mean "make him cool again"? >8|

  • @kirklandjones

good question, I bet the MovieGuy is too busy reading the cool ones (Dan Brown) he doesn't have time to read Conan Doyle.

  • I LOVED THIS INTERVIEW </3 LOL AT GUY AT THE END :P RDJ && Jude Law = HOTNESS beyond belief !

  • Great interview, Jake; I agree with rakusfrakus, your questions were different from the stock that EVERYONE was asking, and really got them sharing something different.

Loved the clip of Guy, miffed that he hadn't worn his tweeds ^_^

  • Oh my God, Guy Ritchie at the very end... <3

  • @gater101 I adore Guy.

  • omg its JD out of scrubs with blonde hair! lmao (the cheesy american guy at the beginning)

  • LMAO Guy at the end was unexpected. XD

  • sherlock holmes was and will always be cool...and yeah ...these guys are BADASS!!! luv em!!!

  • I've seen a bunch of interviews with these two guys, and I think this was one of the best interviews, because the questions actually got the guys talking. all the other ones it's like they already have a canned answer because they've been asked the same thing over and over and over. good job to the interviewer.

  • I do agree the interviewer did a great job!! Speaks a little too fast but his questions actually excited them to talk more.. very interesting..

  • they deleted the groin kick by rachel macadms scene

  • Yeah, I hope it's included in the DVD/Blu-Ray release:/ The movie is still awesome, though!:)

  • I love the movie sherlock holmes!

It's a fantastic and successful work.

  • Guy Ritchie has done a great work in Holmes and I think he deserved a Golden Globe for directing or at at least a nomination. Quite a few talents r usually neglected or underrated in the awards season. the visual style in Holmes in addition to the narrative structure alone r worth more than an award, hope he will get an oscar nomination, though i don't think so, maybe it is a bias against action-oriented movies.

  • That's the same shirt Robert Downey Jr. wore to the Golden Globes! :)) Oh man I love these guys.

  • imagine been alone in a room with this two

  • i wish i was...

  • you got a point there!

  • You have amazing questions. Got the actors very engaged and they definitely enjoyed answering them. I love this interview, so thank you!

  • This guy delivers really nice interviews

  • Holmes was always cool, you amateur.

  • Robert Downey Jr. is my idol. I can't wait to see this movie!

  • I like all things Guy Ritchie apart from that Madonna movie he made which we'll forget ever existed. Definatly looking forward to this.

  • @NightShiftCG

yeah there was a long stretch between snatch (2000) and rock n rolla (2007) where he produced that madonna melodrama and that obscure esoteric film starring ray liotta.

but then with rock n rolla and now sherlock holmes he is back on the "snatch" track. making entertaining stylish films.

  • Agreed, With so limited time what can you ask these guys?, really good questions from the interviewer and really nice interview

  • I'm always impressed with this interviewer. He always has good questions and actual insight to whatever movie he's talking about. He's much better, in my opinion, than the boring, predictable interviewers who just ask the same questions over and over again.

  • Love it!! Always a pleasure to see such a bunch of talented and gorgeous men!! Excellent job!!

  • Neat interview! And good questions, too.

  • Very good interview! Well done!!
