  • This series is actually very good in Brazil is going through and I watch whenever it passes. And it's amazing.

  • It's like....it's like....well, nobody knows. They took it off and left 1 clip that doesn't show us anything. Plus when I could only watc around 1 minute of what was considered an episode. I thought....why am I?

It maybe difficult. But unless it is finished. It's more like watching a movie and having it stop for a month every time it goes to another scene.

Not only do we lose interest. It fails to seem coherent.

  • this is a bit like Legend of the Seeker meets The Tribe..

  • Aw, man! :-(

I can't watch it just because I'm in Denmark!

    I WANNA SEE IT!

  • @JCubDK watchseries. eu/ serie/ riese remove the spaces and put w's before

  • Question: What is the purpose of those glasses? I don't see any airplanes, air balloons or ornithopters around. Why on earth does she need them?

  • Steampunk? That's it, I'm bought.

  • wished they would put this out on dvd.....i want it!

  • could you please tell me where i can see the first episode ?

  • Some of it is a bit forced and cliche, but for a project that was just meant to be a fun experiment it turned out pretty well. They seriously need to do more with it so we can get longer, fleshed-out episodes. I wanted to know what happened next...

  • Steampunk is a visually wonderful genre of art...but "Riese" was a poorly done series and a very cheap, horrible way of the mainstream jumping on a new bandwagon due to the increasing popularity of this art form (...which I was afraid would happen.). After watching a few episodes, I see this as nothing more than a cleaned up "steampunk" fashion show with CG effects, a lukewarm storyline, and B-Movie quality acting.

  • NO ITS NOT IN UK

  • one of the worst low graded TV series I ever seen.

  • There is a reason why this is not on TV! ;P

  • American accents ruin series like this..stick to your crappy cowboy and indian shite, and let us europeans deal with this type of entertainment.....Nothing so annoying than hearing a yank speak in historical or fantasy films...FUCK OFF!!!

  • So Elysea is from Aion and the name of the wolf isnt unknown too but...we´ll see how good this series is...

  • héhè_ÃnÿÔÑe_wÁñnÂ_chAt_wìth_mé_Ì_fÈËl_sÒ_lÔnËlý_tÓÐåÿ♫

  • You must find the boy and give him the rin- Wait, I almost thought this was Arcanum.

  • Can someone tell me what is the name of the song at the ending of the episodes? I asked the oracle (google) but she didnt say anything useful this time... thx in advance!

  • I guess their budget for CGI was next to nothing. Goggles and gears don't make it Steamunk, at least they spared us from tatoos and piercings, which is a good thing.

  • I met the creator of this series on my school the other day. He went there to give us (me and my classmates) a little conference. He made the script of this just for a little "experiment", a project, and, well, it seems that it worked.

  • The more I watched this show, the more disappointed I became with it. Not steampunk. I guess I will keep waiting for someone to do a Steampunk series right.

  • Fun fact, Riese is the german word for giant.

  • looks interesting, students made it rite?

  • still fricking waiting for a way to watch it in the UK.

  • I don't understand why people just don't run a search before posting a comment takes less time to google something than to post a comment.

  • I wish i had syfy on me Televsion it's Awesome

  • fun fact; "Riese" is the german word for giant. I heard about this show a few weeks ag and wanted to watch, but i live in germany so i can't watch it on syfy or hulu. :-(

  • I get a "This Video is Private Message" any idea why?

  • @IslandCabby google Riese and click the first one these are webisodes thru syfy*com it's not a tv show total of 10 webisodes each about 10 mins long

  • Ok, whats the point of putting a link saying "Click here" so you can watch the first episode when the video is "Private" ?!?! I mean really.

  • where can i watch if i live in uk?

  • Am so glad to see Riese make the move to a network. Hope this means a TV show is in the works? Can't wait to see what happens next with this awesome show.

  • The discussion continues on the SYFY forums...

reviews for aired episodes are up.

  • Vancouver's film industry is trying to hard to rework the genius of Battlestar Galactica by asking that style to also fit formulaic reinterpretations of other timeless stories like Lord of the Rings or Vampire films. It seems an attempt to re-imagine and feminize those generas in an attempt to create new myths to rival the old ones. The problem is, Battlestar succeeded because it still included some credible testosterone. Since then Caprica and now this are pale shadows.

  • @GalacticPacific well said and i agree.

  • yeh shitty trailer...

    _*_!

  • Hang on...is that Dogmeat? I thought he was stilling waiting for me outside vault 101. >.>

  • @OxbowisaMstie

    still* <.<

  • wow first time I think I have ever seen a trailer that was worse then the actual thing, is that just me or?.....

  • how do I watch the full episode? It says private?

  • I would also like to watch the first episode.

  • screen video capture...lol.. bad quality and the audio I had to record through the laptop speakers with an external mic. oh well, no worries:)

  • fortunately I copied all the episodes right off the site a month ago!!! Yikes

  • Very cool. Mine and a whole bunch of other's appetites have been wet with this one. Now its yanked off the net because of a pending distribution deal. Yay!!! I love a success story:)

  • Did this show get sold to TV? Awesome!!!

  • I love this show I am so bumbed I cant see any more!

  • Oh that's why I can't find the episodes I watched.. they may be taking it to TV? That's great I can't wait to see what happens!

  • Dang just now heard about the show and cant watch it now. Hope ill get to start watching it soon.

  • any chance itll be on dvd?

  • The link to the first episode takes me to a 'private' video, lame!

  • Their website forum explains that (just a few days ago) they had to temporarily stop streaming their episodes. They are working on a distribution deal (possibly even taking the show to TV). I'm patiently awaiting the chance to watch this myself.

  • Oh, thanks so much. I was baffled as to why I couldn't find it here, and there was some unexplained error when trying to stream it from the real site.

  • I had the same reaction, hence forum hunting. I'm particularly irked b/c I've had the show open on a tab for over a week, waiting for a chance to sit and watch it through, and if I'd just watched it when I first heard about it, wouldn't have had a problem. :)

  • Very nice work...

  • This web-series had its act together "technically" right from the start, and with each succeeding episode the acting and storytelling got better and better. Kudos:)

  • kickass!

  • Allison Mack will have a role on this series, so I´ll be watching it. It seems great!

  • I saw earlier postings where there seemed to be some debate over whither it could be defined as steampunk if it didn't occur in a Victorian time period. Well depending on which definition you choose, that could be a valid interpretation. At least all the "steam punk" I have ever read is certainly based in that era, or in a world that acknowledges such an era existed. I don't as yet know what world Riese takes place on, it appears to have the trappings, but that's about it.

  • I haven't seen an episode yet, but I'll say on the face of it, the series looks damn good from a technical perspective. and that means a lot. I'm going to watch the interview and stuff later, but if its a independent project my hats off to them. Look like a Hollywood production as much as you can, just don't imitate them when it comes to juvenile, cliche ridden storylines and plots.

  • Ulric = Oblivion

    Fenrir = Princess Mononoke

I like these fantasy references. :) I have to watch this

  • @Biida They are references to Norse mythology. You'll see Fenrir in a lot of fantasy settings. He was a wolf, son of Loki, destined to kill Odin during Ragnarok.

  • Fenrir was a Norse myth creature/person who was the Offspring of Loki the God of tricksters. Fenrir according the Norse End of the world myth will eat the sun.

    Just sayin

  • u guys are jst sooo wierd

  • really awesome shit

  • you guys should stop dissing it. i mean i get that its pretty cliche but you have to hand it to them for making it look awesome. plus how may steampunk web series can you name out there?

  • @NikNikNik0 Damn straight, how many can anyone name out there? I've always wanted a Steampunk series, WOOT! lol.

  • @NikNikNik0 syfy just picked it up..

  • @NikNikNik0 Yes put wearing goggles and sticking gears on your clothes does not make you steampunk. These posers have none of the technology behind it. Really, its all fashion and no function, making the entire steampunk aspect pointless. I love steampunk don't get me wrong but I just think this series is bad.

  • @lvp20: I couldn't agree more with you, bud. You summed the series (and its failures) up better than I could.

  • i should watch that shit

  • What's cliché? I fail to see how using a fantasy text and a map makes it cliche. That's like saying it's cliche because a cop drama has cops in it.

  • The Chosen One travels a mythical land on a mission, hunted by mysterious badasses in dark clothing. Her job? To save the world and fight enemies in slow-motion. And since it's steam punk, goggles for everyone! Goggles, goggles, goggles. Bad guys get 2 pairs! (All that's missing is some magic crystals and you'd have all the elements ever used in a work of fantasy.)

As for Hollywood clichés, watch the trailer.

  • In an interview Ryan Copple (the creator) mentioned that they purposely kept the trailer vague so as to not reveal too much.

  • Not a bad thing, btw. Harry Potter was immensely successful and it was loaded with Arthurian references. I like seeing new takes on things.

  • Anyone else notice that she's a Steampunk 'Red Riding Hood' with her own 'Big Bad Wolf' protector?

  • I think that's the point.

  • Well good, then. I'm not as dense as I think I am :)

  • I think its more of an attempt to connect to existing fans. If they draw a few people due to using a familiar typeface, then OK. It will be apparent to whoever watched the show whether or not they like it within the first few episodes, regardless of a simple draw. You might even attract a few people who might dismiss the show out of hand for the reason that 'Steampunk' has been attributed to it. Be glad they aren't using 'Papyrus' or similar. I might be tempted to avoid it for that.

  • This doesn't look half bad =)

  • If it's German, then the correct pronunciation would, I believe, be "REE-zeh" -- the single "s" being pronounced like an English "z", and the final "e" not being silent.

So is this a new cable series? Where do we find it?

  • It's a webseries that will be posted on the riesetheseries website, starting Nov 2.

  • WOOT! Thanks, Kizeira! Found and bookmarked!

  • SO EXCITED!!! Counting down the days...

  • Steampunk Rocks!! Great job...only a couple more days!

  • so how would you pronounce that? Reese? Rice? Rye-eese?

  • Reese. Means "Giant" in german and is a term from the Greek Mythology.

  • Ah, sweet, sweet steampunk.

  • Yay, steampunkness!

We need more steampunk stuff, not just art on the web.

  • wicked!!

  • Keep up the good work, looking great guys!

  • Amazing! Finally something more of the fantasy genre. Cant wait to see this.

  • This looks amazing!!!

  • Sweetness of sweetnesses...

  • wow that looks amazing iv never read the serious but 4thoough who have hope the stick to the book as much as possibel

  • It's not based on a series of books, it's an original webseries premiering this fall online.

  • you know with the popularity of steampunk, why isnt there many shows or movies in this genre?

  • "steampunk" is a genre? LOL

    Anyway, this show looks rawesome!!!

  • Steampunk is popular among fans of steampunks. What that number is exactly who can say? it's a segment of SF and all so an off shoot of goth. Many of the attempts to film it have been pretty dismal. If someone does a breakthrough movie, it probably won't be Hollywood though. They are always the last to jump on any movement.

I will say however that you can sometimes see snipits of what a good steampunk movie might look like, even in bad movies.

  • I see... It's definately fringe as of yet.

  • This looks awesome and ...Wow!!! ...that girl playing Riese is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen...I am in!!! Can't wait to see more!
