  • I have Aspergers and now that I'm out of school I hardly ever see my friends as much as I used to. They're all in work , ect and I'm trying to too. But I've got so much time on my hands and nothing to do in it but write songs, which is a hobby, but I just feel more and more depressed when I never go out and have no social interactions with new people.

  • At school people ask me why are you so quiet and never talk? I won't say a godamn word why? They don't understand they don't understand that you can't stop being shy and some of us are in that condemned period of times in our life.

  • people that have SA or low self confidence ask too much of themselves and are never satisfied with who they are or what your doing...Just be happy with who you are

  • I'm happy being alone reading books and drawing...constant noise bugs me anyways, and the crowd is so overwhelming because it's like a washing machine back and forth back and forth...that's when the anxiety kicks in.

    However? When I'm with one or two people in a table...I dig that type of Environment because I could focus better and become more confident socially, but with groups there is always that one person that loves to dominate the conversation and will not give you a chance to speak.

  • I suffer from social anxiety also, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one. I just want to be able to talk to people without fearing rejection.

  • Some people are shy beacuse they don't fit in or are mistreated. So the question is for a person is when is not being shy an option. If all shy people were alike then nothing would get done.

  • this makes you feel like you don't have to be the way you are but allows you to start off fresh and make that feeling of anxiety disappear, which works, because knowing what other people think of you maintains that anxiety. So the best way is to just be yourself, make a good first impression and 'maintain' that and some of that will go away. Also don't think about yourself so much but focus on the person.

  • I have got a English Applied Studys to do. I have to do it on a movie star and do 8 slides about him/her. Then put it onto a board and on my own talk through each slide to my class. I am apsolutely shy. I can't even talk to my friends. I hardly talk in school i only say stuff like "uh-huh" so i don't talk. When i talk my voice goes quiet and weird. Please Help me. I got less than 3 weeks till i do it :(

  • @CrafterRuneGuide i know how you feel they can be really hard but maybe if you just forget about being the shy person and just be whoever you want for a bit? it could be a good way of trying to become less shy if the presentation makes people notice you more :) it could be a break through for you but don't worry about it at all you'll be fine! the less you think about it the better you'll feel about it!

  • Ehh I just got to get to know the person. Just like I like this girl at my school we talk all the time. That's the only person I didn't have to get to know. :/ I just hate being shy towards others in my school.

  • i always feel like a scared puppy compared to the other girls at school i talk to. i can make them laugh or agree with me for a second, and then i start asking questions like i don't fuckin understand. but once i get to know someone, i'm a lot more confident. i blame my dad. he's the anti-social parent, so i got screwed there. i swear sometimes when i talk to him its like talking to a four year old...

  • Here's the thing I'm able to switch into social mode here and there but I don't seem to be able to maintain and its fuckin annoying. I start feeling awkward and my facial expressions will look awkward so I just say f it.

    one of my parents has this illness so i've inherited it too

    i'm solely trying to recover from it by my self...and it's working (altough i must admit sometimes the feelings come back)

    to start the process of self healing you must read about social anxiety (SA)

    that's the first step because you will know exactly why you feel like that and you must think to do the opposite (also try to copy and idol;that helps too)

  • Well there are dozens and dozens of testimonials on our website if that helps. I agree though, there arent that many really excellent NLPers. There is however now a really good book which does provide a solid 'scientific' basis for NLP, it is called Magic In Practice by Garner Thomson and Dr Khalid Khan. Designed for doctors & other medical professionals it is very thoroughly sourced and referenced. Anyone who wants to examine NLP from a scientific angle should read it and decide for themselves.

    Of course it isn't just you =) there are billions upon billions of people in the world, and millions of them probably have similar feelings to you.

    And being mentally ill is quite serious. If you are able to comment here saying all of that, and if people DO hang out with you, then that is an indication that you are not mentally ill. You just need to practice socialising. The best way to be accepted is to be happy, and accepting.

    Just be nice and others will be nice to you. If someone doesn't like you, don't hang out with them. Find someone else. I'm in a big friend group so I don't really know what it feels like to be rejected.. but honestly, if you can smile, help someone, be nice, listen to what others have to say.. be a genuinly good person, then people are going to like you and accept you =)

  • that happens to me a lot too...oftentimes i feel regret for not saying something when I'm in a group (a class, a gathering or something similar). it is really frustrating...

  • every1 has a PBA (Personal bank account) what goes in2 tht account affects what comes out. Overtime Small steps will become big changes, even if its somethin as simple as sayin 'hello' 2 sum1 every day tht u r afraid 2 talk 2 will make a difference. Believe me i know this from experience
