The reason that most Americans (and Brits and others) do not believe in Evolution is because Evolution is an antiquated, illogical, mathematically & biologically impossible theory dreamed up by some guy who was NOT even a scientist, and that had NO idea what a biological cell was or how it functions. Darwin himself admitted that his ideas and little drawings were dreamed up and that he had zero proof for any of it. His theory may as well have been: Time + chance = monkeys flying outa his butt.
Today, Darwin is largely considered an idiot for too many reasons to list here with such limited typing space but here's one example of what DNA teaches us: A single bacteria which existed let's say an infinite-trillions of gazillion years ago could only contain an equal or higher amount of information than would the same bacteria contains today but NOT one iota less. Matter does NOT add info to the genome. Mutations are negatives in that they destroy information (they don't add new info).

In the real experiments with chickens, the experimenter's most basic goal is to select for traits that caused individuals to survive and did not hinder group survivability. From this it is seen that good and evil chickens outcomes are outcomes of the second thought experiment - indeed reinforcing the original model for good and evil, but it seems to be a faulty model, because I agreed with the second experiment even though I disagreed with the first and the third, so the model is in contention.
I have a comment on the 'Second thought experiment' - that the all-good group would thrive and the all-evil group would "self-destruct": I agree completely with the general outline that I think this type of thought experiment, and this individual one, were trying to convey. (Or in regular Susan terms - I see, understand and agree!)
On the third thought experiment: Why leave that hanging, except for that general reason we easily and directly see, that evil slaughters while good wins. But how?
So I just got done with 23:16 - "Thought Experiment 1", and I have a comment: My analysis is: of course, the good person (so to speak) is not a fool, and so will not try to be the (so to speak) evil person's friend in the first days of their arrival, but will be sure to fortify in goodness and become secure first, and the evil person (so to speak) will not overpower the good person (which can only exist through the Messiah Jesus). So take heart with that one - the good won't be so easily taken.

Nice talk. However, I don't think his criticism of Dawkins is on the mark. Dawkins, as far as I know, has nothing against the study of religious beliefs as an outcome of the evolutionary process. He is mainly concerned with what is true and what isn't. Nor does he suggest that religious ideas are the only fallacious ones. Dawkins stresses the importance of evidence over any type of ideology; Wilson's description of Dawkins et al. as "religious atheists" is a mischaracterisation.
I watched about half of this. I understand evolution quite well. I also understand how evolutionary thought affects how you form conclusions. I totally agree evolution is more than biology. But this crap about good and evil and the conclusion of the utopic island and the evil island is just that. In nature, what we observe in animals is not necessarily going to apply to us. But predation in itself does.
In ecosystems where herbivores lack predators, they overgraze and use up too many resources leaving the ground bare which creates new problems. A member of the audience tried to point this out. In societies where too many predators exist, it is correct they will eat each other up. But since morals, values and our perception of what is right are cultural, I think these simplistic answers are ridiculous.
Evolution is web per se. It affects all things interdependently, but also dependently, and this can happen at the same time. I hope this helps people explore evolution more indepth, and I agree the education system is not teaching it properly, but please don't listen to a single source on what evolution is, how it works or why it is so important.

@camaroontree Nobody thinks that lungfishes are evolving into land animals. Their air breathing can even be advantageous in the dry season when oxygen levels in the water are low. Fossils of the first tetrapods do have the exact structure you would expect and also match the time period.

Atheists can not scientifically defend Evolution. All they can do is attempt to re-frame the argument as one between science and religion. The findings of modern science point away from Evolution and toward Intelligent Design.
The real argument is one between True Science (Intelligent Design) and false science (Evolution). Richard Dawkins finally blew his cool and stopped pretending to be a scientist. He now writes books promoting atheism & hatred toward God as a way to save Evolution.

Today, Darwin is largely considered an idiot for too many reasons to list here with such limited typing space but here's one example of what DNA teaches us: A single bacteria which existed let's say an infinite-trillions of gazillion years ago could only contain an equal or higher amount of information than would the same bacteria contains today but NOT one iota less. Matter does NOT add info to the genome. Mutations are negatives in that they destroy information (they don't add new info).

Evolution is supported with literally millions of individual facts like all life is carbon-based and water is necessary for life (on Earth), and many Scientific Laws, like the Law of Common Descent and the Law of Natural Selection, but has no contradictions, not one. It would be devastating to Evolution if you found just one contradiction.

In the real experiments with chickens, the experimenter's most basic goal is to select for traits that caused individuals to survive and did not hinder group survivability. From this it is seen that good and evil chickens outcomes are outcomes of the second thought experiment - indeed reinforcing the original model for good and evil, but it seems to be a faulty model, because I agreed with the second experiment even though I disagreed with the first and the third, so the model is in contention.

I have a comment on the 'Second thought experiment' - that the all-good group would thrive and the all-evil group would "self-destruct": I agree completely with the general outline that I think this type of thought experiment, and this individual one, were trying to convey. (Or in regular Susan terms - I see, understand and agree!)
On the third thought experiment: Why leave that hanging, except for that general reason we easily and directly see, that evil slaughters while good wins. But how?

So I just got done with 23:16 - "Thought Experiment 1", and I have a comment: My analysis is: of course, the good person (so to speak) is not a fool, and so will not try to be the (so to speak) evil person's friend in the first days of their arrival, but will be sure to fortify in goodness and become secure first, and the evil person (so to speak) will not overpower the good person (which can only exist through the Messiah Jesus). So take heart with that one - the good won't be so easily taken.

Nice talk. However, I don't think his criticism of Dawkins is on the mark. Dawkins, as far as I know, has nothing against the study of religious beliefs as an outcome of the evolutionary process. He is mainly concerned with what is true and what isn't. Nor does he suggest that religious ideas are the only fallacious ones. Dawkins stresses the importance of evidence over any type of ideology; Wilson's description of Dawkins et al. as "religious atheists" is a mischaracterisation.

I watched about half of this. I understand evolution quite well. I also understand how evolutionary thought affects how you form conclusions. I totally agree evolution is more than biology. But this crap about good and evil and the conclusion of the utopic island and the evil island is just that. In nature, what we observe in animals is not necessarily going to apply to us. But predation in itself does.

In ecosystems where herbivores lack predators, they overgraze and use up too many resources leaving the ground bare which creates new problems. A member of the audience tried to point this out. In societies where too many predators exist, it is correct they will eat each other up. But since morals, values and our perception of what is right are cultural, I think these simplistic answers are ridiculous.

But as to the institutional education, yes SOME still are 100 years behind, and I had studied evolution through geography and geology which has been using this view point, and evolving for decades, not just 10-15yrs; and when I went back to biology, I was pleasantly surprised they had updated their data to include genetics, and chemistry knowlege that has increased the understanding. My university does not teach the way this guy does, or claims.

So obviously I'm not as clueless as you think. But I also stated that predation was described inaccurately and the audience member tried to correct him. @mebe84 I increduously asked for evidence for evolution-I pointed out that the Lungfish has a pulmonary structure that bears no resemblance to that in terrestrial animals. Youve failed. Class dismissed.

@camaroontree Nobody thinks that lungfishes are evolving into land animals. Their air breathing can even be advantageous in the dry season when oxygen levels in the water are low. Fossils of the first tetrapods do have the exact structure you would expect and also match the time period.

@winterstellar oh America doesn't have to worry about india. I can't speak for china but as an indian i can guarantee you that India is still ages away from becoming a scientifically enlightened country. The doctors here still say creepy lines before surgery like i can't say anything it's all in god's hands. Animal worship is still prevalent here. And even the scientists aren't atheists here. And the only atheists you find here are those who have been disillusioned by their misfortunes

@jacksparrow011235813 Yes, there are some major, major problems in India still. But I saw recently that they have even started with satelite launches now....but that was maybe not the best example of progress I could have thought of, hehe. It was a shame it blew up. : )

@jacksparrow011235813 I agree that there is ignorance everywhere, in every country, including China. The difference here in America is that the ignorant get so much publicity and air time via the mainstream media and that they seem to have highjacked the Republican Party. Most of them don't have the time or the intelligence to listen to something like this. It's easier to stick with their dogma.
