Bechet did not play a susaphone, but rather a sarusaphone which is an obsolete reed instrument that had a very limited and short-lived use. it produced a very deep sound. if you look up sarusaphone on wikipedia, you will see that Bechet's use of the instrument is one the most outstanding in history and he uses it exstensively for soloing on an early recording of many make up your mind. And mentioning it was a bit of a joke because no one plays it anymore.

Is there currently a jazz group anywhere which is as good to listen to as the Les Jazzticots?
Each of these individuals is an accomplished performer and they play brilliantly and engagingly as a unit.

Real good stuff but with pianoplayer I think the total sound is better.
