  • Hey Robbie, if you put that fish on a board and put a nail in it you'll cut your skinin' time in half easy. Good vidoe though. To many people don't know how to clean a gar the right way to make it boneless.

  • Hello i was woundering what is that silver thing on his head

  • Im surprised no one has posted yet saying " in Soviet russia, the Gar skins you " or some gay shit like that lol, this was helpful ! still i have never tasted a gar lol

  • Great video. Thanks Robbie, for showing how to skin and filet a gar. Do you use the same method on carp, since they are a thick scaled fish as well??

  • Thank you for posting this. I will probably never need to know this but if I ever do... Thanx!!!

  • heather u are very butiful

  • Way to go on the cleaning the good eating!

  • Ok. Describe the taste. It looks good to me.

Come to NC next 4th of July and I'll hook you up with a "Big Boom"; I'll let you fire and film it for your channel. Check my vids to see how big of a boom we're talking about.

  • Thanks for the informative video. 62 yrs old and I learned something today.

  • watching these videos and drinking beer reminds me of home! Oh i am home.

  • Just some good ole country boys and "girl" having a good time. Getting out and doing it while others sit on the couch!

  • where i live people just throw the gar on the rocks and let them die

  • @zeroboarder9 - That's called ignorance -- and it's really sad that people were you live do that. The gar is one of the most underestimated and underutilized freshwater fish.

  • very helpful video thank you I moived form washington state too florida about two years ago it cool too see fish that i have never seen befor ... and I love all the shooting video that you and Heather put on youtube

  • @vid

  • Robbie, lay of the crystal man!

  • Good Job Robbie. Looks like ya'll have a lot of fun doing this and that's what it's all about aint it?

  • That was a fine Job Robbie , I have nailed a few of them to a tree and hull them out , especially some big cats , nail there head to the tree with a no.16 or 20 what ever ya got laying around, then let the air out of them ,lol.

  • wow heather,i hadn't seen this one i wanna try one now, they do look like they would be a bitch to clean with the tank armour going on,thanks

  • we throgh those mother fuckin gar on the bank

  • i just thought of something random.who do you guys think will win in a knife fight? the guy with the knife vs the guy with the gar? if you really think bout it i think the guy with the gar will win i mean the skin is like armor and could block the knife and all you need is a good swing to the leg or maybe the face.

  • i live in greenville north carolina and we do this right regular and im tellin you we get more gar than you can count and all with good size.. and the catfish flatheads and blues are in there big time.. ive never had gar but thats about to change.. yall need to head on down here and give it try you wont be disappointed

  • The only good gar is a dead gar.

  • what do GAR fish taste like? they have sharp teeth and probably eat meat so I would imagine that that has an effect on the way they might taste.

Im a city boy so pardon me for not knowing too much about fish and shit.

    thnx.

  • This is better than Friday the 13th we could call this the Rocky Robbie picture show!!!! Cricket noise in the background is mint...

  • c'est un poisson gras ?

  • Here in SC/GA we dont eat much gar fish, or i dont, Might have to try it out..Thanks for the tip..

  • Wow .. That was a lot of meat. I didn't even know you could eat those things. Thanks for the videos.

  • what i do is grind the meat up and make balls and fry em or just throw the garfish on the pit and good videos yall

  • You Guys are great!! Where are You? I was watching a news story about a girl catching a huge fish with her hands and you video's were next so I been watching them all. So cool the way you catch them. THANKS!!!

  • I'd like to suggest to Robbie, the benefits of a Sawsall. Would make skinning that gar a bit quicker & easier so less work

  • Lol never really got into the guns and fishing movies but these have been pretty interesting (yes heather helped with attracting me to them) but overall some pretty cool stuff. Great vids guys and keep em comin =P

  • @Jeff3230 heres a little help get a nice piece of plywood and two two by fours, but them in a triange on top of the plywood and hammer em in, that way you can stick the nose of the gar in it and they wont move while you skin em

  • @Jeff3230 thanks for the vds jeff . i love all of them .your wife is such a nice person .

I will subscribe to you guys . keep them coming.

  • Is gar meat rubbery?

  • 2146725;

That must mean Robbie is Heather's boyfriend or perhaps Jeffs !

    LOL :-)~

  • it has a thick scale?

  • Very thick! They are like a armor. Also they are sharp and will cut you if they slap you with them.

  • oh yea? i saw robbie got cut! that must have hurt! :D

  • Yall are awesome, you should get Robbie to do a video on how he cleans a catfish

  • cleaning catfish aint hard you jus take the skin off and fillet the meat off.

  • a couple of your videos had little kids in them, i was just wonderin whose kids those were

  • I wonder if the saltwater gar and the freshwater gar taste the same?

  • @Jeff3230 damn, you're like a dream wife for a lot of fellers!!! You are purrty, great body, and love to fish, hang out, play with guns!!!! Jeff is a lucky man.

  • Thanks for the info on this. I've never eaten gar before. I have one as a pet, and it's not anywhere near big enough to use as a good meal.

  • do you not call them gar pike? we call em gar pike in ontario canada

  • People here just call them gar.

  • fair enough, ya.. I never heard of this hole "jugging" thing until today, when I sub'd and watched ALL your video's .... I think im gonna try it at the river tomorrow, I don't have a boat though, but the waters waste high.. I can just chase the bottles down, lol

  • fie-Lay.... haha robbie your the SH**T!!

  • I never thought of doing it this way, we gave up trying to eat all of them because they are so hard to get into.

  • thanks for the vid. I live in Illinois and we have an abundance of gar (not normally that size though). Always heard that they weren't worth a shit, but may have to give it a try.

  • Thanks for the great info,I'll have to give it a try.

  • I love gar.

    haven't had any in awhile.

  • Wow, I enjoyed every one of your videos bout juggin' i grew up fishing but never cought nothing like that.. Now i prolly never will. Im from Illinois. But i broke my neck a few years back so even just pole fishing is rough for me, thank god for friends to bait my pole and unhooking..any chance if i were ever to make it your way youd take a cripple fishin'? looks like you guys fish hard, shoot hard, play hard, and most importantly, EAT FUCKING hard,

ps loved the "suck the head" video, Im HUNGRY

  • Would love to buddy. But I think if you look at the video we just uploaded about trot lines you'll see it would be very hard to get you on the boat with the way our banks are here.

  • That looks like some good cooking. You guys should start a sea food restaurant cooking the fish you guys catch juggin.

  • thanks robbie that was a damned good instructional vid. ive gotta make my way down to LA some time, looks like great fishin

  • is that boneless filets?

  • Yes

  • armor vehicle of the fish LOL....does Rob do that professionally , like clean fish for fisherman around there? that would be cool.. he makes it look so easy and i am sure you have to have a very sharp knife. how about bones, are they fine small, large or is it like catfish? ty 4 vid so interesting God bless

  • Those pieces he cut off have no bones.

  • Ha, and I like your comment about how the Gar smells like shrimp and resembles chicken. That's exactly what I thought I was eating when I ate the fish- chicken. Gar tastes a lot better than people think it was, and granite I didn't smoke the Gar like you're suppose to, but it still tasted better than just "alright."

  • Wow, I really needed to see this video last summer when I tried to skin and cook a couple Gar. Just like in this video, no knife will cut through those scales. It really is an "armored vehicle of a fish!" I was at it for 20 minutes with a hammer, chisel, and hand saw, lol. Blood everywhere! Your way is much easier.

  • "an armored veehickle of a fish" LOL

  • Good video, where are you fishing...Thanks

  • That's not a Bowie knife!

  • yall post some of the best vids ive ever seen, wether it be shooting, jugging, or yer "expierments" keep up the awsome job!!!!

  • I always wondered how to clean gar.We bowfish alot and we mostly shoot gar so I'll have to give it a try.Just like the backstraps off of a big ass rattlesnake really.

  • how do you catch gar that big pls reply

  • Well not really if you know ho to prepare it is tastes delicious

  • Great video, that was interesting.

    5 stars

  • Thanks I miss my home.

  • Yay more southern style fishin/fishin tips!

most people pass over gar , goo , and river carp, cause the effort involved for such a small amount of meat; but they all can be just as good eating if done right.

tell robby thank you for showing the true southern way to get those BIG gar steaks that make such good grillin on summer nights of partyin.

    Keep em comin.

  • That is a large amount of meat. I bet you could not eat all the meat from that one Gar by yourself. And think about it. That was a little Gar.

  • i wonder if you can preserve the head like a gator

  • cool! hey i wander if there skin could be preserved like leather? they do have some cool armor scales! make a gar skin belt ! lol

  • Not sure. I know it's tuff as hell LOL! You can almost use it for bullet proof body armour LOL!

  • thanks man i was always wondering

  • Good how to As Gar can be good eating as i dont eat it to offthen but others do

  • What's up Fatboy Dan?!?!?!?

Yea we had a lot of people asking how to clean a gar so we done this one to show them. There is no doubt that they are tuff to get into!!!!
