Standard fog fluid is primarly Food grade glycol, wile some brands do use a small precentages of glycerin. The primary ingredient is vegetable glycol or propylene glycol.

@csx5861 Fog fluids can also contain Dipropylene Glycol or Triethylene Glycol. Glycols are sugar alcohols (a viscous fluid), hence the residue Rinse the machine out after use & it should be fine.

Glycerine is normally used in Hazers. It creates finer particles than glycol based liquids & thus a less dense fog. Nitroglycerin will make much more smoke, but it will not only destroy your machine, but level the venue too.*

*Please do not use highly controlled explosives in your fog machine

Honestly man, great concept, sounds easy! But the amount of glycerine and distilled water your gonna purchase to get a good amount of fluid will come out to be he same amount buying one fog juice container. Spencers sell Fog juice for about $20 bucks. I always get the gallon! For home use, id say this may be something easy to fool around with, as for Mobile Dj's..its really not the best idea! Gotta stick with some thats sure to put out man! great video though :)

no.... lol if the glycerine were to be burned as opposed to being vaporized it can make formaldehyde but theres like no way a store bought fog machine can burn it unless its all gunked up in which case the machine would probably stop working before it started burning fluid.

I am no chemist but I have read that the Glycerin can go through a chemical change induced by high temperatures. Commercial fog machines don't have this problem and I doubt that homemade machines or juices would either.

nah not really, just dont breathe it directly from the nozzle and dont drink the juice. if you breathe alot of it the glycerine can displace the oxygen in your lungs which can trigger asthma attacks but if you dont have asthma just grab a deep breath of fresh air every hour or so or else you'll get a little light headed. i worked in a haunted trail for 2 weeks every night for 6 hours and it didn't bother me.

I did it by the ounce and the ratio is 6oz of glycerin and 18oz of distilled water. It makes almost exactly 3 cups.

The original fog machines using not glycerin, but metil-alcohol (wich can kill you, etil is what you can drink). Thats the main difference...

Also glycerin is an oil and harm the fogmachines cuz of the exhaust. Metil-alcohol based fog juices dont have exhaust.

I tried it with a $20 fog machine that we had hooked up in a car, it made the fog super thick, it was awesome, it was thick and smoke-like, not just foggy. I recommend this over buying fog juice, we found you can go up to a 60-40 (water-glycerin) mix to make the thickest fog without clogging anything.

yes glycerin can leave a slightly sticky coating on stuff, depending on the concentration.

make sure to only use pharmacy /food grade glycerin and dont use ethylene glycol or anything else (like radiator fluid, which is a glycol) as its pretty damn well toxic and ill ruin your day nice n good!

You can actually use half that amount of glycerin and still get plenty of fog.

Just test out different ratios with your machine until you find the minimum amount of glycerin that you can use while still getting your machine to produce plenty of fog.
