@ 11 secs: Just try to stop yourself. Go on, just try. See, you can't, can you? And why on earth should you? Outrageously catchy song that deserves to be enjoyed again & again & again...
VOTB were the 1st band I ever saw live when I was 15,still have very fond memories of them. Amazing how fresh this still sounds, great riff and wonderful harmonies. A sadly underated band
This is a cover of a song written by their mate Brad Nack - brilliant song. The Let It Bee album is one of the best albums of the late 80s, I bought it on tape at the time and then again on CD recently and it still sounds fresh.
I can understand the 'Banglehive' comments but there was really no similarity at the time. By the time VOTB were around the Bangles were slushing out on Eternal Flame and other such garbage. PS. I like the Bangles btw!
Without a doubt a classic song, well written and performed. VOTB never got the attention they deserved. I'm so glad so much of their stuff is on youtube. Cheers
Bought this tape in London and played it all the way back to the states (felt like dancing in the aisles, but I don't think the flight attendants would have approved!). Great music - felt like I found a cool little gem on my trip and no one back in California knew about them!
There are two ways because I like it. First the music in the 80´s was so special, second I really love the outfits. These multi-layered petticoat outfits are breathtaking and I know what I´m talking about because I do wear them myself...
Would all those petticoat layers make it hard to walk down narrow corridors or up escalators? Just wondering-My ex used to wear layered fabric but not as much as VOTB-LOL I think their look is cool, fun and a bit flirty :)
Oh yes - they will make it very difficult to walk up or down the stairs, to get in a car and they are warm in summer but with a little experience it´s no problem at all to handle the bouffant fabric. For myself I love the feeling of wearing them outdoor and most of the people make compliments about my outfits.
The fashion of the 50´s and 60´s and 80´s was much more female than today.
I need to get a copy of this. It's quite possibly my favourite votb song. At the minute I only have their second album 'Honey Lingers' and 'That's what I call music 12' (of the British series) which features 'Don't call me baby'. But thats it.
I have not heard this in AGES. They were one of my very faves. I felt lke I was the only one who actually cared about VOTB. It's nice to know there are co many like minded people with GREat taste in muic!!! This is my home.
No offense, but does anyone else reckon these two lovely lasses sound a bit like The Bangles? I can't help hearing certain 80's sounding similarities with them, the Go-Go's and even some of Cydi Lauper's stuff on "She's so Unusual". Still love VOTB most tho. Peace:)P.S.: I've just spent the last hour listening to this particular track over 'n over. Tragic-I know...It's the first time I've heard it since late night on a jukebox somewhere many years ago. lol
Strange vid-too many textiles. But having said that, this is a terriffic song. I ran out and bought it right after I first heard it on student radio. They put the fab in fabric.
I too echo the thanks for posting this. I got to see this tour in the mid '80s. Im also somewhat baffled why this band didn't do better. They were excellent on stage. I still have this album. Love this song.
As a friend of mine once put it, once something becomes popular it loses it's appeal. So maybe it was good that voice of the beehive never had any major hits.
Woweeeeeeeee! Sixth form flashback! They once dedicated a song to me live after I punched a bloke who kept badgering them to get their thrupenny bits out: happy days!
Thank you for sharing this! Criminally underrated band.

There's also some 60's influences in their early stuff like the Kinks and Shangri-Las.

Voice of the Banglehive! Er, except they aren't as cute as the Bangles. Great song though!

You can only wonder why this group never hit major international success. They are brilliant. Maybe it's a good thing they didn't.

Well I loved/bought all their singles and I am living in Hong Kong ... so does that count as international success? :P
