Ok people when he says "it never rains in southern california" and "it may be cold on the east coast" it is symbolism. From the video you can see that his lady love is in southern Cali so he is saying when he is there with her "it never rains" as in he's never sad when he is there with her and is always happy as opposed to when he's on the road away from her its cold and lonely (the east coast aka the other side of town or the other coast).

Too bad the acoustic guitar touches weren't put on there album version. It really adds counter-melody which is something their music lacked as good as it was. They wouldn't be the first group from this era to supplement video or radio versions (ie After 7, Babyface). They should make these versions commercially available.

There's a few sites that do this for you, but one in particular that I use from time to time when I want to acquire something that's almost impossible to find is listen to youtube dot com. (remove the spaces of course). You copy and paste the link of the video, and paste it in the blank on that site, and it converts to mp3 and allows you to download it and it's free. Hope this helps.
