This video depresses me, I would have rather have this girl be the way she is because I love that her eyes are small and that makes her who she is. It took me nearly 20 goddamn years to come to terms with my physical appearance and I feel better about it. Instead of getting surgery, she should have dealt with it because there was nothing ugly or unattractive about her.

The sad part is she was perfectly cute before. But when everybody does something and it becomes societally acceptable or even desirable, there's going to be a lot of pressure to conform. I'm not blaming her, but I am concerned that the Western look has become the target instead of a natural Asian look. There's nothing wrong with the looks God gave ya, after all.

I'm not sure where " I want to look white" idea is coming from. I know asians who have considered/done eyelid surgery. They don't do it because they want to look white, but because it gives them rounder eyes. What I find is that in China, girls generally want to look innocent, cute; perfect pale skin, doll-lashes and thin curvy lips. Over in America, white women seem to want to be sexy; dramatic lashes, tanned skin and full lips. It's two separate beauty ideals. It's just Big eyes are universal.

I don't condone any plastic surgery (I used to, I actually used to want to have it done on myself, but I realized that it's pretty much like hanging a sign around your neck saying "I have no self-esteem"), but I especially don't condone plastic surgery for the purpose of looking like another race. To respond to some of the previous comments: I believe that there are Asians who get the double-eyelid surgery done in order to look "Western". Granted, there are some Asians who simply do it because they want the appearance of bigger eyes; but I have come across a number of Asians who say they'd like to have this type of surgery since they believe Western eyes are more beautiful since they are larger/not slitted. Anyway, Asians, be proud of yourselves! I wish I had features like yours. :)

@zaneXephonna Yeah, having more pigments to the skin has a lower chance of someone getting skin cancer, where as having low pigment will exposes the skin to more UV rays, therefore the person has a higher chance of getting skin cancer. Basically, the darker the skin, the more resistant the person is to skin cancer.

The sad part is she was perfectly cute before. But when everybody does something and it becomes societally acceptable or even desirable, there's going to be a lot of pressure to conform. I'm not blaming her, but I am concerned that the Western look has become the target instead of a natural Asian look. There's nothing wrong with the looks God gave ya, after all.

I'm not sure where " I want to look white" idea is coming from. I know asians who have considered/done eyelid surgery. They don't do it because they want to look white, but because it gives them rounder eyes. What I find is that in China, girls generally want to look innocent, cute; perfect pale skin, doll-lashes and thin curvy lips. Over in America, white women seem to want to be sexy; dramatic lashes, tanned skin and full lips. It's two separate beauty ideals. It's just Big eyes are universal.

This makes me so sad. I don't condone any plastic surgery (I used to, I actually used to want to have it done on myself, but I realized that it's pretty much like hanging a sign around your neck saying "I have no self-esteem"), but I especially don't condone plastic surgery for the purpose of looking like another race. To respond to some of the previous comments: I believe that there are Asians who get the double-eyelid surgery done in order to look "Western". Granted, there are some Asians who simply do it because they want the appearance of bigger eyes; but I have come across a number of Asians who say they'd like to have this type of surgery since they believe Western eyes are more beautiful since they are larger/not slitted. Anyway, Asians, be proud of yourselves! I wish I had features like yours. :)

If you look at America, you see all sorts of people exposing their skin to harmful sun rays to tan themselves. Many Americans dye their hair lighter. That's why even if these girls are beautiful and amazing just as they are, they're not contented with their appearances. It's a sad sad thing. The only commercials that also *sometimes* have Asians looking beautiful are cosmetic ones but that's only because asians are part of their target consumers.
