This is why we see the ol salt as a rapper,
gangster, gambler on any number of shirts. It's also way he's been in a popularity-coma in the US for the past decade. King needed to have their arm twisted to work with Warner Home Video to release the Fleischers on DVD.
Yep, truly a shame when rights owners have no respect/admiration for their characters and are only after a quick buck. I grew up watching the Paramount Popeyes on TV and later became a big fan of the Fleischer cartoons, especially the ones that utilized the 3D turntable technique (had a Super 8 print of Popeye meets Sinbad I almost wore out).
