Whats your point with this video? the differences between notebooks and desktop PC's is virtually non-existent these days except the clocks may be a little slower to cool them down. And just about any windows 7 PC can do that - as it has true on-demand loading of software components.
@wezternator the point is that this is a fast 12" notebook. Sure, you can get 14" notebooks the speed of a desktop, but there is an odd gap for these at the 12" size range. I've yet to find an out of the box 12" laptop that can beat this performance, theyre not easy to come by. Thats what makes it special, well at least that was the case at the time of recording this, now i'm not so sure
@conquerearth its just got an ssd, you can put an ssd in any laptop and if there is an i3 or i5 laptop it boosts itself to around 2.93 ghz. and you never stated how much ram so. also the kingston ssdnow v+ isnt the greatest ssd out there. its more of the low to mid range of ssd.
@sbvikings30 True enough, looking around there are now 12" laptops with i5s. At the time i maxed this one out you couldnt get any faster CPU in a 12". And yes the v+ isnt the best out there, but it can still pull punches. Well its been 6 months, so thats not a bad run. I'll probably take this video down now.
@MultiDesu starting up like that has nothing with the cpu to do.
almoast all CPU's can do that, the problem with nowdays computer is that CPU is faster than the other equitment, the harddidsk writing/reading speed and the bus speed is doing this
Asshole, everyone knows SSD is fucking fast.

I could tune my laptop to boot in 10 seconds. Nothing special...
Currently have a RAID 0 setup, with 2, 256gb SSDs.

How are you doing with Cooling of the CPU ?? does it generate more heat ??
MultiDesu 2 years ago
the Penryn CPUs run much cooler than previous models. So luckily, no additional cooling is required.

can you dissable all that eye candy bullshit (themes, etc) like in XP? that would definately speed it up.
cuallito 2 years ago
To shave a few more seconds off the boot, do this:
1. Run msconfig
2. Choose "Boot" tab
3. Check the box labelled "No GUI Boot"
This will mean that the computer no longer waits for that silly animation to finish before booting into Windows proper.
menoexist 2 years ago
Thanks for the tip. Silly me for assuming windows boot would be multi-threaded!
Will up a new video if it makes a significant difference to the time.
