  • i thought the same thing when i saw that commercial, but i don't blame the writer's / directors (it's pointless to expect morals from ruthless advertisers) ~ i blame the actor & actress playing the roles because they could have refused to be portrayed negatively but they didn't. if i played the role of a ditsy white girl i would have no one but myself to blame when i furthered that stereotype

  • It's beautiful how nobody mentions that they make it seem like it's just okay and funny for a woman to be abusive to a man? If roles were reversed in this commercial (i.e., man kicking woman), many people would be pissed. I think this is a sexist commercial. Sad.

  • I'm sorry. I thought the commercial was HILARIOUS! And, yes I'm a black woman. Yes it did perpetuate some black stereotypes, but I know I'm not that type of woman so it didn't phase me. If don't apply, let it fly. To the people who are outraged by this, the commerical must've struck a nerve about who you are. Maybe you're guilty of some of those actions. Yes black people have been victims of racism for a long time, but black people irk me when they use that as a crutch all the time. Damn smh.

  • @BlkprydeX Oh please.

  • now that i watched this i question the super bowl dorrito commercial as well.... the one were the mom has a date over, he sits to eat some dorritos and the baby smacks the guy and says dont touch my mom or my dorritos. It was funny at first, but now im thinking r they really trying to say we as black woman have unconrolable kids, that could just disrespect adults... or that we have so many men/dates our children feel as though their our date monitors or protectors?

  • This is a little old, but I just wanted to let you know that the black man/woman and the white girl in the commercial made that commercial themselves. So I suppose the black people in the commercial are stereotyping themselves. I think that commercial was funny, I didn't sense any stereotypes. I think ya'll are being really sensitive, or I'm just blind.. not sure.

Really the point I wanted to get out, was it was submitted to a competition by regular people and just happened to get aired.

  • Yes, that woman's wig looked a hot mess, but that commercial was not racist. I actually found it mildly amusing. Why would the stereotype just apply to a black man? Couldn't what they portrayed be applied for all men? We need to stop crying about every little thing and calling everything racist its a real bad look. And she may not reflect you but a lot of black women walk around wearing hurt weaves trying to be something they are not.

  • I agree we are never shown in a positive light. LOL I mean how many BMW or Mercedes comercials actaully have a black person driving their cars, But only a black woman can fry Popeyes chicken. We it comes to investing money or anything like that not many minorities are shown there either. So its like they are saying either we don't want you using our products or most of you will never be able to attain the means to purchase their goods or services

  • lol stereotype huh? every stereotype has a grain of truth..TRUTH some black woman are hard to be around..deal with..talk with..love with... unfortunately the scrong black woman in this commercial is one of them lol..was it racist? not really. Go on youtube and you find vids of ignorant, loud, ANGRY black woman..are they make believe?..no they exist..sorry

  • TELL THE TRUTH AND SHAME THE DEVIL !

  • _continued) Of course people wouldn't think the commercial is controversal if it was a white couple or an other non black couple. They don't have these stereotypes. They don't have racist or just plain ignorant people throwing these stereotypes in their face. But we do.

  • I did notice the whole "agressive black female" theme through the commericalThe thing that stood at to me the most in the commericial, was the stereotype of black men loving white women. I wouldn't say the commercail is racist, but it does black on some black stereotypes. Some people say " You're trying to make something out of nothing," or "There's nothing wrong with." or " People wouldn't feel this way if it was white couple." ....

  • @JiaTV The stereotype of black women comes from going on talk shows publicly screaming and fighting another woman or man and arguing over a paternity test. While others go on Diane Sawyer complaining about not being able to find a black man. People and businesses feed off of that negativity.

  • I wasnt bothered by the commercial. What bothers me is the angry black women stereotypes. I get tired of hearing that black women are bitter angry and jealous. But then when you turn on the tv and see snapped you see that very very few of those women are black. I mean it has recently been very rare that you see a black women kill her man or his mistress.

  • Jia,

Hello, I didn't get a chance to see the commercial. The commercial may/may not be what some thought it to be. Generally speaking though, I'm glad to hear a black woman say that all black women are not "angry black women". I being a man am mos' certainly glad to hear a black woman say that black men (or men as a whole) CAN control their urges. So, with that I say thank you!

  • Also could you even Imagine the roles being reversed? A white couple and a cute black chick?

  • @Leadman1989

    Nice thought.

  • What bothers me is their skin tones whenever you see a positive relation ship it's always a darker guy and lighter woman and now that it's a negative woman she's all of a sudden darker...

But it's not just pepsi it's our culture at large

  • I agree with everything you said Jia. I am sick of it also..

  • if i reply 4 real it would be to long . so shyt happens there are white & black females like that out there . it just happen to be a black couple. look if they make the same ad and put only white ppl then what would you say? & what if all ads was just white ppl ? so just be happy that we are on tv getting paid & not out there doing dumb shyt

  • Blah blah blah, always finding racism in everything. You can find racism in every single movie and tv shows if you want to, fact is, the vast majority of people with common sense watched the commercial and saw something that was meant to be funny. This is exactly why movie directors are afraid of casting black actors in their movies these days, so they don't have to answer to some moron who goes to the cinema with a pen and a pad to write down the imaginary subliminal anti-black racist messages.

  • real

  • I guess we are not happy with all our BS getting out 4 othas 2 c cuz my aunt laughed so hard @ this commercial but when we went out 1 nite n a lady from a different race started laughing she all of a sudden was offended I just think sometimes we can like something until another race starts laughing a lil 2 hard then it must b something wrong wit it I even hear u laughing throughout the video about it. Sometimes ppl itz just entertainment

  • I must admit dhat I was not offened by the commercial @ all. I actually thought it was funny and I have seen white women do the same things 2 their husbands. I just think sometimes we as black ppl over react and this is a case where I think us as black women over reacted

  • I think the issue is more about imbalance. Yes, we can take a joke. However, it seems like we are ALWAYS a joke.

  • @CecilRyuTaekwondo Love the way you worded that. You basically summed up my video in only a few characters.

  • @JiaTV YOU ARE HOT!!!

  • @CecilRyuTaekwondo people act like there scare to say NO

  • @CecilRyuTaekwondo Great way with words... I agree a MILLION %!!!

  • I don't think it's over the top at all, this stuff has gone on for years, the only unfortunate thing is when we bring it on ourselves. But typically there is always stereotypes being created and trust me I hear them everyday.

  • You made excellent points in this video. I would only add that in addition to all the stereotypes you mentioned, there was also the undercurrent that the black man was attracted to the white woman because sister's aren't as attractive. This commercial was so wrong for so many reasons it is disgusting!! Keep telling the truth Jia.

  • The video was fine. Very funny. The fact is a lot women control there husbands. That just happens to be true, for some couples. To analyze this particular commercial in this way is just seems foolish and excessive. Relax ya'll. It is not that deep.

  • I think the Nationwide Insurance commercial is ten times worse. You know the one where the black woman is going off on her bf for backing into a car. Then a white woman magically appears and says "play

  • U r so rite

  • Hate when ppl upload comments on the videos and it doesn't even seem like they looked at the video all the way. The person who comment about black women on BET, hello didn't she say that the media which means the media in general which mean BET she hate how they are portrayed on television. I like this video and that commercial like the pepsi max commercial help nurture negative stereotypes already there. Girl you just then said it all. But im colorblind not literally, but when it comes to race.

  • I total feel ya your so right, you go gurl i saw the pepsi commercial, I noticed the black women in the commercial, was dark skinned and not light skinned and she was made to be mean and masculine acting. you tell it gurl! its impossible theres more fat whites than blacks they claim theres only 15% blacks in USA

  • I don't believe this commercial is in any way racist at all; most women will react in such a fashion if their boyfriend did something like this in front of them. Also, it isn't these corporations responsibility to rid the world of racism, it's our (the people) responsibility. The reactions of the woman may be the link they are trying to create with real women, and the actions of the man.

  • ever see the Corona Beer Commercials

  • THAT COMMERCIAL WASNT SO BAD! JUST LIKE THE SONG (SCRUBS) AINT SO BAD !!! OR , (BILLS BILLS BILLS) AINT SO BAD!! HYPOCRITE !!!!!!

  • Hey Jia, I know this is off topic from the video, but is that the indian hair that you were speaking about a couple of weeks ago in one of the videos? If so, I definitely need to get it. It was nice a straight, now it has the curly affect... Oh, btw, the video was very good. You touched on a lot of valid points. I've been following you on Youtube for quite sometime now. Keep doing your thing, and congrats on the blog:-)

  • Omg! We were analysing this commercial in AP English! You're really on point!

  • I never thought people was putting subliminal messages against blacks in commercials until now because every group of people has been shown in a negative light at one time or another. But that's the most obvious example of it I've ever seen. I do believe that more than half black women are forceful but I still believe they had malicious intent in making the commercial. Just because something is true to life does not make it not malicious.

  • I have black female friends that hit me in the arm. They don't even hit me hard. Why bring the white woman into it though?

  • I just watched another commercial for Pepsi Max with a white couple and they portrayed the white women to be this overly self indulged money grubber and the white guy to be one track minded who was interested in only sex or the pepsi max. So I am guessing Pepsi is using stereotypes to draw some sort of attention to their product. As you said, it's not right, but it seems to be working unfortunately.

  • On B.E.T.(Black Exploitation Television) Black Women are called bitches & whores 24/7 and a TON of unsavory stereotypes are glamorized in the process. So, does THAT concern you as much as this Pepsi ad with an 'Angry' Sister, or do rappers get a pass and should be allowed to disrespect Black Women & other Men ? Hmmm...Love those Stereotypes

  • @seand67 Check my other videos and then ask me that question.

  • @JiaTV Ok, I wasn't familiar with your other video(s). Too bad most other Sisters have their head in the sand with regards to 'stereotypes'. Peace

  • @seand67 yes thats exactly what she's saying.(sarcasm) hmm whats your ethnicity if you don't mind my asking?

  • @seand67

Is it just black women that are called bitches and whores on BET? Can't on one hand that hip hop only attack black women but then bitch about Hip Hop videos never having black women in it.

  • i likie this video. speak your true opinion. its amazing how people get offended once blacks talk about white but when its vice versa, its normal. smh. good job tho :)

  • I didn't see anything wrong with the ad it was funny and your thinking to hard and blowing it out of proportion

  • yeah i was thinking that too

  • Comment removed

  • Don't even get me started on that Brawny commercial with the infamous Black tune, but white faces all over that. SMH

  • Thanks for not cursing and it comes across as much less angry

  • I don't think you were off at all! I feel like the media continues to perpetuate these stereotypes so that the younger generation of black people (& ppl n general who don't have their own minds) will 1. continue or start to either act like the characters in the ad, or 2. believe that most if not all black ppl are really like this. But its ok, bc they mask their intentions behind humor..then LOL all the way to bank...

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU! this needs a standing ovation...i get soo sick of the media portraying us black people as the uncontrollable animals in the world...they need be doing commercials on white people being serial killers and rapist they're the only uncontrollable crazy beast!

  • i didnt see that as a black woman commercial as much as women of any race will do that sort of thing and men of any race will do that sort of thing im sure pepsi knew this in marketing because i know all races of people that is their dynamic in their marriages .

  • O my god yall are definiely being to sensative... if u wanna talk about sterotypes how bout when jia said they should have gave the black woman some indian hair or some type of weave... that right there stems from self hatred but thats a whole different story

  • @ScamSquad911 So wearing hair extensions signifies hate for one self? Chile, sit all the way the f*ck down.

  • not only was it offensive, it was generally just a CRAPPY add! lol how can they spend that much money on such an uncreative add

  • How do so many people miss the obvious double standard of domestic violence.

If a MAN PUT a WOMAN on a diet,

then kicked a women hard for ordering the wrong thing,

then pushing her head into a pie,

then caught her eating a burger and made her eat soap,

then caught her looking at another man and tried to throw a can at her,

They wouldn't be trying to sell a soda,

they will be asking for money for a domestic violence charity

but it supposed to be funny if it happens to a man.

  • @bigaladji10 excellent point.

  • ...(continued) l, Although the Black couple finally show some concern and support for each other in the last scene by holding hands, the scene itself plays on historical stereotypes that Black men are easily distracted by White women, and all White women can easily take a Black woman's Black man. When the Black couple ran away after the White woman got hurt, that particular scene played on another historical stereotype that Black people better run before they get lynched.

  • I knew I wouldn't like this commercial as soon as I saw the woman give the man an ugly look and kicked him under the table at the restaurant. I don''t care to see Black women portrayed in a negative light in the media especially when Black men are involved. Negative portrayal of Black women tends to provide Black men the excuse to look elsewhere for romantic relationships. (to be continued.)

  • Hmmm ... interesting points. I'm uploading kind of a response tomorrow. I'll let you know when it goes up.

  • Also, the angry woman and elderly person of all ethnicities have been comedy staples for centuries. You see it in opera, vaudeville, comic books, sitcoms (the proverbial nagging mother-in-law, the overbearing Jewish mom, etc.).

That said, if any demographic has a right to its anger, it would be the black woman and man. I see no shame in that.

  • I'm much more offended when people use the term, "nigger" and any variation thereof.

Stereotypes notwithstanding, I thought the Pepsi ad made a point about how unfair the criminal justice system is. At least, that's the impression that it left on me.

  • " Nobody cares about the beautiful white woman laying on the ground with a concussion because of a black womans violence.''

  • Jews make these stupid commercials based on their own sick minds

  • i agree with everything you said but you what about how they portrayed white women and their love for black men regaurdless of whether or not they have a women or not.

are you saying that THAT was ok?

  • @ebbesst I said what I had to say in the video. Thanks.

  • It is a bizarre commercial. It shows a physically abusive person to sell Pepsi. Of course, this is marketed to a bunch of people who watch football ( a violent sport).

I never figured out why women want to watch football in the first place. Which women in this country are really watching football? Honestly, WHITE WOMEN.

I am white and it seems to me there are a whole shitload of white men beating up their wives then there are black women beating up their husbands.

  • I say you're reading too much into this commercial. Maybe they should do it over with all white people.. its comedy! We have more important issues to deal with.

  • this video got me thinking... i wonder if the same way black people feel bout BET and this commercial are the same way italians feel about jersey shore and the sopranos?

  • hey jia i dont think that people dont give a damn i just think people dont look at it in that perspective they just see it as a commercial and never take the time to dig deep into it thank you for posting this because i never even thought about it that way and this made me want to pay attention to watch im watching more often

  • 1. Thank you. Its about time - you had me suffering from Jia-withdrawal.

    2. I dont even get why - given the plot of the ad - the european woman was even in the ad.

    3. I think your point is valid.

    4. Stay Strong, Conscious and Beautiful.

  • Jia, u right. I just feel that as long as black people continue to fly the "fuck u, i'm ignant and proud" flag, NOBODY is gonna respect them. I love black people. I'm Dominican but I've always had a black wife. Black is beautiful, but black people are their own worst enemy. Stereotypes are born by people who see some negative shit and instead of changing it, perpetuate it. Damn shame really. Damn shame. During black history month this shit went down? wow! somebody dropped the ball on this one.

  • Completely agree!!!

Not much else I can say.

  • I totally understand boo

  • Yeah I agree, dumb commercial. But maybe it's the behavior of the woman that you're finding offensive. If it were a white couple and a sista was the one being desired, it would still be offensive to someone who watched it perhaps. I respect your p.o.v. though.

  • Also if it was a stereotype against blacks, it must be stereotypical against whites. Remember the girl jogging at the end??? Well is it saying all or most white girls go jogging and look so ditzy to giggle and allow herself to get hit with a can and not get up and fight? Just some food for thought my friend...

  • As a black woman...I did notice all of the stereotypes in the commercial. I was indifferent to it...wasn't funny to me nor was I offended. Always having to think about race gets exhausting. Black people have to learn when to pick the battles. There are more pressing concerns going on in the black community than a stereotypical commercial. WE (black people as a whole) do a lot to help the stereotypes along. Examples: Maury, rap music and videos, the black actors in the pepsi commercial, etc.

  • @arahsrat The show Maury was right on point. Black women on TV talking about a paternity test, LOL. I also think that simply giving Pepsi the power by publicly acknowledging the commercial adds to the stereotype of black women.

  • @Par5Birdie ok.

  • To each it's own but, I will never drink another pepsi product in my life.

  • Everybody!! have a blessed rest of the weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • What's funny to me is how MissJia complains about the dudes "impulse control" You make me laugh MissJia cause you're point sound "If the nigga wasn't so hard headed she wouldn't have had to go upside his head!" :P

  • what bout when females go in clubs & they got BFs & they show out cuz guys throw money, etc

  • @jaygreg50 I can't speak on such things b/c I don't do such things.

  • @JiaTV

but u can speak on this subject kuz u act in such ways?

  • @84chevypickup Have you ever heard of a historian? They're people who typically can speak on events/people of the past with intelligence, even though they may not have been there, nor would they do many of the things that they speak on. Although I am NOT a historian, you can use that example and make it fly.

  • as a black man, I wasn't offended by the commercial, but I understand now big business companies should take responsibility for what they say over the air. I do not thing they were communicating black stereotypes, but gender stereotypes...

  • But I can't read, so I need the video! More Jia TV!

  • "cuse the naps" LOL

  • It's by design. These type of things are put in the media to keep the masses ignorant and divided. Image how many people that ad had to do through before it was put on TV. You think no one thought it was racist. It obviously racist, which is the point. The more people perceive each other negatively the longer we stay divided and don't more on to higher consciousness.

  • Every wife and girlfriend that wants her man to eat more healthy get angry/disappointed if he doesn't do his best. Not about color...I didn't see much color in the commercial.

I'm glad the black actors got work.

  • You've hit the nail here. And it's sad how people in the black community don't want to admit that so much is wrong with this commercial.

  • I'm a black male and I gotta be honest. This video wasn't offensive to me. I think people are being a lil over sensitive. They make these type of commercials all of the time with white ppl playing these roles.

  • iT AINT BOUT BLACK OR WHITE... ITS KUZ THE GIRL THAT WAS JOGGIN, LOOKED FREAKIN HOT!! ALL MEN ARE ATTRACTED TO HOT WOMEN! THATS IT. QUIT BLOWIN THIS UP INTO SOMETHIN IT AINT...4EXAMPLE, HAVE U SEEN THE STATE FARM INSURANCE COMERCIAL? WHERE THE BLACK MAN BACKS UP INTO A PARKED CAR, THEN HIS BLACK GIRLFRIEND IS "BITCHIN" NONSTOP BOUT IT... DOES THAT MEAN BLACK WOMEN ALWAYS BITCHIN BOUT STUFF?????

  • @84chevypickup Without really trying, you just proved my point....................

  • @JiaTV

    well,,,, did i?

its jus ta commercial... U take it how u wanna take it, everybody sees it different... like the sayin goes, if the shoe fits, wear it!! if it aint about "u" specifically, then haha, just laugh about it.. but if u get offended, then it means that u do have the attitude portraid in these commercials...theres a reason y people make these "racial" comments... they dont just make this stuff up! true or not?

  • @84chevypickup Have a blessed rest of the week.

  • see, thats why I don't drink pepsi lol

  • YYou can't change the stereotype and the fact that it offends people shows the truth behind the stereotype. I kno Hella angry black girls and happy ones. People need to take it for what it is ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!! Happy black girls ain't funny. U makin a video bout being offended bt u cnt even describe the commercial without laughin lol. U kno that shit is Tru and its funny. Even niggaz wit angry girlfriends kno that shit if funny. Live love and laugh its not that serious.

  • I respect your opinion, but do not necessarily agree. Maybe because the type of person I am, I looked at the commercial without a focus on race. I think it they just want you to buy a Pepsi. And you're right, there were black people who sat in that meeting, and okayed those :30 I'm not mad at them, they're making money. Seeing a white couple doing the same thing in that commercial would not been funny and if a black jogger got hit in the face with a can, that would probably seemed racist too.

  • if black people are in commercials there is always something "racist" or "stereotyped" if they aren't it's "why aren't there any black people" if the couple was white and she threw a can at a black girl then all hell would break loose. can we please just get over the whole prejudice thing and laugh. yes not all black women are angry we know that, not all white girls jog and like black men, and not all black men want to have sex with everything that moves. this coming from someone half black

  • I think black people are now searching for reasons to be upset & over analyzing things. Ive seen plenty of commercials w/ white people in them doing the exact same thing as this commercial "for example the Corona commercials" If the lady in the commercial was tapping the guy throughout the whole commercial then ending wouldn't have been that believable & u left out that the guy clearly watched the white girl running by staring at her ass... No matter what color u r similar ending!

  • well if you were the ABW @ least you could probably be arrested by your wife mariska xD

  • i have to agree with you missjia this video is a hot ass mess now i know damn well they could have afforded to buy this chick a better looking weave...they should have just slicked her real hair into a damn ponytail if they was going to make her look like that and you can clearly tell they where aiming at angry black women i mean look at her face when she threw the damn drink she was so damn aggressive the whole video! throwing that drink made her look so damn insecure all the dude did was speak

  • Continued....Sometimes, it seems like there are black people who feel pressured into thinking that is how they are supposed to act and they themselves may even say to me, well you know how black women can be. Some of the worse stereotypes come from men and women of color. It reminds me of the stereotype threat; where a black person believes that black people are stupid so, they must not achieve any intellect because then they would not be black.

  • Well I think its was just supposed to be comical not negative... Notice they do similar commercials with all types of races. A yoplait yogurt commercial comes to mind where the wife keeps cracking on her husband for being fat, During your story as you told it, you yourself was laughing threw it, So the message was made you laughed, I laughed and Im sure millions laughed. Just chill out, because now your sounding like "an angry black woman". I respect your opinion and video however :)

  • I agree that they could have portrayed the black people in this commercial in a different light. Unfortunately, since the angry black women do exist they seem to get the limelight. It is unfortunate that those individuals who do not fit that particular mold are not featured often or at all. However, I do not agree that there weren't any black people who made a decision on this commercial.

  • @JiaTV 4:45 - 5:07. Oh, OK.

  • jia you are totally correct but unfortunately that is how many in white america still see black people

  • @JiaTV found it! your analysis is so on point jia.. while it was funny it is embeded with the stereotyp of the angry black woman... it is evident in the facial expressions of the sista' and the intensity of her actions. without an outcry on our part that ish will only continue as usual. in the eyes of white america silence is often seen as approval.

  • i agree with you jia, but i couldnt find the video... :(

  • As a black man, I wasn't offended. Seeing the black woman's role in this commercial as an "angry black woman" is being overly sensitive. I thought it was funny, and it would have been if she was black, white, latina. It was clearly just a woman trying to, quite forcefully, get her husband to eat right. Now the ending is another story. I was full of racial undertones, and stereotypes. But the rest, in my opinion, was not racially driven and stereotypical. I just don't see it.

  • I agree with you Jia. I felt a certain type of way when I seen it. I knew the commercial was going to raise an eyebrow or two just because there was a black couple. Anytime there are black people in commercials...let alone black women there's bound to be something. We're made fun of day in and day out. And it's tiring. I haven't had to deal with being called the "angry black woman". But indeed it bothers me.

  • I am ´white ´ , but I agree with you 100 % ! Good gal !

  • Representative Sheila Jackson agrees with you!!! So do I. It was beyond offensive.

It's time to vote with your money., Dr. Gordon

  • sure we know alot of white, asian and latino means girls....but there's still way more black girls who out number...a lot of american black women are straight up bitches....real talk

  • That's why I drink Coke!!

  • "i didnt see nothing wrong with it. the lady was trying to prevent her husband or boyfriend from eating bad foods. and when he flirted with a girl at the park she threw a can at him and missed and hit her. she apoligized to the girl when they ran. you read to much into it. Now she was wrong for throwing the can at him at the park. she should have waited until they got home to do it. lol."

Its not racist. Stop saying everything with a black women in it is racist please.

  • I can't deny, I LoL'd when I first saw it. But I totally agree. The main point of commercials is to plant seeds in peoples minds. Note that they only talked about Pepsi for about 10 seconds of a 30 second spot. So the general consensus of the entire commercial is the negative stereotypes of blacks. I mean really at this point I don't think anyone needs to be told to drink Pepsi. But you've got millions of people forming opinions about blacks because of what they see on TV.

  • What people see in the media very much shapes their perceptions in real life . Media folks know this, but unfortunately the average everyday person doesn't.

  • notice how BIG the black woman was. They wanted her to look MASCULINE.

  • ITA with you jia the commercial was B.S.

black people in general are constantly being shown in a bad light.

no other race would have let their men/women be disrespected in a national commercial, hence why a BLACK couple was chosen. we don't care about our image it's all about a pay check. we've sold our souls to multi nation corporation,

in return we've left a legacy of buffoonery.

have you ever noticed the louder and angrier a chick is on camera,

the darker she is as well...smh #makemorevids!

  • I felt it was a little racist. I noticed that you left out the fact that the "wife" was a darker skinned woman thus keeping the blacker the woman the eviler she is image going.

  • i cant agree mooooooooore! its funny how these companies jump to feign some sort of social conscience when 'meanwhile, back at the ranch' they pack these marketing campaigns full of stereotypes... #nshit.

  • Well, people who don't walk in the shoes of the ones getting made fun of,are going to say,"Not a big deal !." The first thing that caught my eyes was the hair weave, and it was not an exspensive one. LOL

They made the black man look like a bitch, because he couldn't do what he wanted to do. I don't drink pop,so Pepsi can kiss my booty. The world is against black women anyway, you can see it on Youtube,so fuck''em all.

  • I see your point and it make sense.

  • I agree with your commentary. Unfortunately, most of us buy into the media's portrayal of us. We may identify some characteristics, that are perpetuated in the media, as being actual common "traits" of us. If we actually began to define and control ourselves, we would rarely see these derogatory images.Truly a shame that so many comments show a complete lack of self worth and understanding of who we really are as a people.

  • I agree with your commentary. Unfortunately, most of us buy into the media's portrayal of us. We may identify some characteristics, that are perpetuated in the media, as being actual common "traits" of us. If we actually began to define and control ourselves, we would rarely see these derogatory images.Truly a shame that so many comments show a complete of self worth and understanding of who we really are as a people.

  • I agree with you 100 percent. if it was a white couple the white lady would just take away the cheeseburger or wouldnt kick her husband but would give him the dirty look as opposed to kicking her husband. Most commericals are very stereotypes; they do it intentionally. I know a lady who works with people who do the commerical and she will tell you that they do it to brainwashed how they want you to see other people and products

  • The ppl commenting about this commercial not being uncharacteristic of black women in general, shows your lack of intelligence. Anyone can magnify the negative aspects of an entire group to amuse or sell their products. I don't walk around thinking all white men are kidnappers & child molesters..even though I see that portrayed in the media. Nor do I assume that all white female teachers sleep w/ their students. Stereotypes work both ways. Smarten up.

  • just looked into the video, it wasn't even that serious to me. I think your just over analyzing the whole commercial and I'm a black man. So I can see a your perspective on race a little bit better, however, I don't think there's nothing stereotypical about the commercial

  • @blackyurizan of course you wouldn't nobody is hardly talking shit about you anymore

  • Omg.. I swear I was thinking the same thing when I saw that commercial... I so agree with you Jia!!!

  • it sounds horrific, i'll go find it and check it out

  • I agree with you. It was stereotypical, and distasteful. Thumbs down.

  • that weave was busted...lol

  • Everything you said yesterday in this video was repeated verbatim, on V103 today. Down to the whack weave.

So the whole Ryan Cameron show is about the Pepsi Max commercial.

  • Jia is THE bestest or THE BUSINESS how you say in the states :D

I know you're SUPER busy... I'm sure you'll shout out your fav UK fan next lifetime LMAO xx

  • @CYaya88 LOL!! Thank you :o)

  • It is absolutely NO coincidence that the women at the end of the commercial is white. These actors were chosen for a reason.

All these people commenting and saying "you are looking too deep into it" have no clue the thought and precision that goes into planning/executing a commercial. This is the subliminal crap that sits in the back of your brain for heavens knows how long. Did you know that a VAST majority (over 75%) of commercials is not recognized by your conscious mind? Food for thought.

  • @ohglamour Very interesting. Were you in advertising at some point or is that just random knowledge (I'm being serious, by the way. Not being rude at all).

  • @JiaTV I've worked with advertisers. She's absolutely right.

The people saying "you're just taking this too seriously" have absolutely no idea how the science of advertising and media indoctrination work.

  • @JiaTV I am Media Studies scholar, so yes i have studied advertising in depth. :) It's sick the amount of science that goes into making ONE commercial. Down the to colours that are present in the commercial. It's truly remarkable. All of this just so we can buy a product. Smh.

  • @ohglamour I need to sit in on your class!

  • @ohglamour

YES!!!! Thank you for writing this comment. This should be the highest rated comment!

    That's Marketing 102. lol

  • fuck those crackers- they r going to be racist till the day they die. they can not be "un" racist- the fact they are even alive right now is due to racism. White people wouldnt exsist if they hadn't killed a black or brown. Fuck them and Pepsi- and they are getting more racist since Obama was elected- really- think about it- you know what im saying is real

  • i didnt think it was out of touch with reality there are alot of blackwomen like that wheather you want to admit it or not........

  • i think its hilarious lol im not racist im sorry if i seem that way

  • the reason i don't watch tv nothing but junk

  • Would you rather them not have black people in commericals at all? I could easily see a the same commercial with a white couple, this commercial seemed colorless to me. I think when you over-react to things like this you become an angry black woman. I feel like people just don't want to see black people do anything in the media. Just stop getting so angry and upset about pointless stuff like this commercial, it de-values actual racism because this was not racist.

  • @chevon1920 Your first question made the rest of what you had to say unreadable.

So by your logic, Black people should just "take what we can get" no matter how degrading it may be or the level of bullshit it may contain. That's what your question says to me.

  • The woman in the ad may not represent YOU, but unfortunately she represents the unsavoury behaviour of many African-American women of today, which is why the advert was made in the first place. If BW of today didn't conduct themselves in the adverse way that they do, they would not be giving advertising agencies ammunition to make them look stupid in front of tens of millions of people.

  • @ezekielthemack Oh yeah? The same way "Beulah" represented the Black woman AKA "Mammie" of yesteryear? You gotta be kidding me????

  • @ezekielthemack the shit you say just makes me sick. if you really think that's how black women are then i feel sorry for you. it's time for people to stop looking at us like we're bad people just because some women have attitudes. people need to separate the two and let that had been a black man being seen in a negative light, you would have a bitch fit.

  • Ok, so I'm a black woman just to state that. I thought the commercial was funny. I don't think we need to make everything about race. This is so exhausting having to listen to people whine about everything that could slightly offend someone.

But yes, her weave was terrible, lol

  • @chevon1920 horrible weave.

  • Im so mad that this video wasn't linked as a response to the Pepsi video.... this deserves a good debate/discussion because too often, those who want to discreetly DISMISS your blackness, will play the "get over it"/"It's just a commercial" card as they have in the Pepsi video comments. I say if you're not A REAL black person, then you don't know how that commercial IS offensive. PERIOD! (The thing that makes me mad is that Pepsi is my FAVORITE drink. FML)

  • @LUVNDQUE I agree.
