Ok kiddos, pay attention, this is pure musical talent.... not the crappola you are fed nowadays. Lady Blah Blah and Justin Beaver (sic) make me sick!! LoL!
@Radsicles I think the echo is the acoustics of the church. What a fantastic sound! Would love to have this on DVD...hidden treasure really. Thanks for sharing :)
@Radsicles The very first scene shows Rick Wright, the organist, turning a silver rod in a circular motion. The rod operates the quadraphonic sound system that Floyd had designed for them. You can access info about the equipment in Wikipedia. It shows a picture of the thing. The unit could move different parts of the sound to the four corners of the room.
0:15 that is the second Azimuth Coordinator that Pink Floyd used. The speakers must be mounted around the church somewhere. It must have been an incredible experience, as the sound bounced around those stone walls!
Very welcome to have a listen to AirwavesJoxfields Vegetable (Elephant ) Man with Joxfields tribute-to-David-Gilmour's-ca-1971-playing guitar at 1.59. If you make a visit; hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
At age 18 in 1984 I spent my first week in Los Angeles, after moving there from the sticks of Ohio, in a seedy YMCA that reeked of urine and jerry curl cream. I had the cloths on my back, a small suitcase, my guitar, and a walkman with a Pink Floyd Animals tape in it. It was a record nationwide heat wave and my window would only open 1 inch. Too afraid to leave my room for a couple of days I must have listened to that tape 200 times. Love Pink Floyd!
@drum5479 If Rick was playing the Organ in such a Spaced out way & Psychedelia was the religion!, then i might consider it! Straight To Heaven In 1967! Or 1971!! When this was filmed!
@chemofloyd puedes translate eso a ingles? Yo estoy aprendiendo espanol y no estoy el mejor a espanol, pero eso sentence me ayuda, yo pienso. gracias. y tambien, como se dice translate y sentence en espanol?
@marnold6879 hahaha yes! you can see him do the same in the amsterdam rock circus... people who argue one vs. the other have already lost in that they have missed the point entirely.
at about 4:12 notice Gilmour walk over to Roger's bass and adjust a tuning key...Poor Rog is tone-deaf and could never tune his bass. SEE THEY NEED EACH OTHER!
DIG!! Rick Wright At 3.35,my main man !!including SYDin 67,i llove syd but after he left & in 68 ,i just love rick, the sounds he made are Amazing! he seemed to take the band into OUTERSPACE!!!
Sometimes people say nick mason was a bad drummer, but he is absolutely the perfect fit and style for pink floyd, he was just as much part of the pink floyd sound as anyone else...and since PF is one of the best bands of all time, most innovative for sure, he has to rate up there, my opinion.
@marnold6879 exactly man, i dont own a drumkit, but im a musician/composer. he doesnt improvise, but his drums mark the feeling of the band, and, without improvising, the badass is still there (like the hi-hat in another brick 2, or every other drum line he wrote is still badass)
@marnold6879 Who the hell says he's a bad drummer? He has so much feeling in his playing, I don't think I've heard anyone replicate his incredibly lax, yet funky approach
i'm retracting my "sound is not great" comment. how stupid of a comment i just made! for the time period and technology for the time, it's awesome!!!! Floyd is the best!!!
this is floyd at their best !!!!! while the sound is not great, who can't love the magic !!! what a concept! in an old church playing this masterpiece!
you can get this version on the bootleg cd called french tv 1968-1971,it also has a version of set the controls...... from the same performance, which is pretty spacey, its easy to find and download on the internet.
Wow!! This is amazing footage that I've never seen or heard of before. I just happened to do a search for Cymbaline and I'm glad I did. I just want to know if there is any more footage from this performance?? Thanks for sharing it.
ths more I listen to this, particularly at the end, I find myself thinking this music touches some kind of place in the brain that calls and pulls the minds attention to somthing unseen but somthing everyone knows like in there subconcious. like some knowledge that we have but is forever locked away. gives me the chills but not in a bad way.
@angie4josh It's good to know other people come back to this again and again. Several Floyd videos have been shut down lately due to youtube's new rules. If this particular one vanishes I will be devastated.
@IsisTiamat i agree i would hate to never hear this version again,i think that a lot of the live versions of floyd album tracks are more intresting,to me anyway,i think rick wright has never got the praise he deserves,i love his sounds on this track,
i always thought this was the best track on MORE but i have to say this is now one of my favourite floyd tracks EVER post SYD.much better than album version, and i love the spacey ending from rick wright on keyboards.he should be missed and also given more credit as his sounds were very important in the floyd up till animals anyway, but totally from 67 till 73. thanx for posting
