  • would be epic to merge the two, get the best out of each and make 1 global game that would rival football. The English game would absolutely explode because of it. 25+ pro teams, with some pulling in crowds over 25,000.

I know they are different games, but surely by taking the best from both sports and creating one sport which would be similar to both would be amazing

  • at club level, league is a better by miles. it's a better spectacle, better games, more exciting, better atmosphere, more passion etc.

at international level however, union wins hands down. the fact that only 3 teams compete with each other in the rugby league world cup (nz, aus, england) compared to the 14 nations that properly compete with each other at the RWC. (England, Scotland, Italy, France, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Wales, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Canada)

  • nice..interesting game..who won..?? keep spreading the greatest game on earth!

  • @mangimosbii Serbia.

  • Rugby union is popular around the world but its declining in interest in the last few years while rugby league is gaining interest.

People are catching on to the superior game.

btw nice video. Its great to see rugby league being played and enjoyed in different parts of the globe.

  • @Lerlialen its a really tricky situation, its clear that rugby union NEEDS to polish their product as league has done over the years, but they're reluctant to do it because the IRB don't want to be seen to be copying rugby league ..however i just don't see union going anywhere regardless of how dull the product is getting, the developing nations all seem to be playing union.

  • Great vid mate.

  • no way rugby union is so slow kick chase kick chase.rugby league 4life

  • c'mon people get into rugby union its so much better.

  • rugby union is slow and not as physical it is boring.

  • i have to disagree grass hopper. super 14 will set you free.

  • super 14 isn't yawnion. It's the yawnion hierarchy attempt to highjack the more exciting, faster and skilfull game of rugby league but not actually call itself RL.

Union is the most boring non-event game going.

  • @jobo1954 league sucks arse. its not faster or more skillful and league is the basterdized version of real rugby, not the other way around.

  • @whessly

Child, try playing both then you will see the light. Were yawnion and League get a fair go on terestrial tv, league is always the more popular. Problem for league is the snob value that yawnion has. Remember, the old farts didn't want commoners even playing the game, which is why we broke away.

  • @jobo1954 broke away for professionalism. union has many more dimensions to it, easier to watch. super 14 is almost as popular as league in aus, even though there are no games even played on free to air tv. union bbetter all round.

  • @whessly suggest you read a few books about this subject. The break came not a a result of wanting professionalism but because working class players were losing pay. Anyway, read about it, you might learn something. As for Yawnion in any form being better that league, sorry but someone should remind the union wallers that William Webb Ellis actually picked the ball up and RAN with it, emphasis on running, something that's sadly missing from union.

  • @jobo1954 exactly what your last answer stated, not because old farts didn't want commoners to play. if you want running watch a marathon. union is a good mix of disciplines league 2d crap.

  • @whessly

Watched the Leicester and later Saracens game yesterday. The game isn't technically better than league it's just boringly inferior. Played in the whole by retarded ruperts, who can't pass or tackle, just kick and ruck n maul.

  • @jobo1954 rugby is chess league is checkers, every player does the same thing nothin' technical about it. same thing every set of tackles. tackle 1,2,3 run up. 4,5 through the hands and kick on the 6th. not that hard. league is boring and predictable. rugby anything can happen at any time, depending on how you wana play the game.

  • @whessly

shadappa ur face. Union is getting better but League is and always will be the superior game imo

  • rugby union is pathetic. it is nothing compared to league.

  • thats why rugby league is so popular world wide. league is for simpletons, its rugby's retarded cousin.

  • union is more popular internationally than league because the english rugby union was run by wealthy southerners who had the money to expand their game, while the english rugby league did not have the resources. and also i don't think new zealand, south wales, parts of south africa and france constitutes 'worldwide', since these are the only places union is actually popular. if you actually prefer watching union to league, then good on you. i think you must have something wrong with you though.

  • you forgot, england, all of wales, scotland, ireland, all of south africa, ireland, italy, argentina, fiji, tonga, samoa, australia. the only places league is more popular is in PNG and australia. even in northern england where league has a foothold it is not as popular. league dose not even exist in most of these countries. union has more professional competions and more amature competions aroung the world than league will ever have. hahaha

  • despite what that dickhead nathan says most aussies are stoked people around the world are starting to realise rugby league is the greatest sport on earth!

  • They are indeed, but even there are prejudices within the NRL ranks, anything outside of that comp is scoffed at... but the attitudes are slowly changing.

These games are a lot of fun to be at since you still get access to the players after the match and to hang out and talk.

  • great to league played in other parts of the world.. good on them

  • It is great and they are pretty much all locals, not many heritage or overseas players.

In fact this year the Serbs have had some of their players get offered pro contracts in France and England... they along with the Russinas are the movers and shakers in Europe.

  • Australia will fuckin roll ANYteam on the planet in league.

All you pathetic european and South American teams

    Give Up

  • Tell that to the Kiwis.

  • What a fucking dick you are. So basically you don't want rugby league to expand to anywhere beyond a small area of australia. Its morons like you that give aussies a bad name. Im sure most of these players could smack the shit out of you personally anyway..

  • you still dare say that when your national side got their asses whipped by the Springboks !!! maybe not league, but for good part the same players ...

  • we havnt versed any other european teams except for england and frace and south africa.

  • What a honest to goodness prat you are. Blinkered, ill-informed, bigoted, one dimensional tripe. This is about the game not who's the best at playing it. You should support football or ice skating or something similar you wally.

  • Good video mate, Good to see (Hopefully) RL expanding on a global scale, Most people will only need to see a game once and be hooked!

  • Cheers, In Europe it certainly is, the RFL and RLEF are doing a great job in assisiting and helping nations take up the sport. I ahve seen amny countries take their first steps of the last few years and now are involved in regular domestic and international competitions.

Serbia are in the Euro Cup this year and next years as well and so are competing for a spot in the 2011 4 Nations.

  • who won?

  • Germany 06 def. by Serbia 38

Germany went on to win their second game againt the Cechs 44-22 and Seria defeated Czechs as well... dont remember the score...to take the tournament.

  • Yea preety good game...

  • Comment removed

  • SERBIA!

  • crowd is atmosphere there scrub puppy :)

  • Is this really 2 countrys playing an official match??? :S and where is the people :S

  • Yes it is. Most of the crowd are behin the camera.

But its not about the crowd... why do people obsess about the crowd?

  • LoL we talk abaut the crowd because the crowd is important. If you go to see a football match, or basket , or also tennis, there are thousand of people watching it , and thats good for players and teams. Crowd is really important, and crowd moove the money.

  • If the only thing shoved down your throat is football then the sheep will follow the sheep. Crowds do move the money as you say, but they move it as they are told... you have to remember that unlike Australia where sports have a relatively even playing field the rest of the world is not... The media effectively is paid off to promote and push particular sports and people not knowing any better follow.

  • But you say no corwds. When was the last time yu went to support intrnational rugby league, particularly one of the lower tier nations, where ever you may live?

I think its a bit hypocritical to complain about the crowds if you're not willing to go your self to support the sport. Effectively you'd be part of the problem.

In Germany the sports being going only a few years. The few hundred they do get these days are a testament to the great efforts to promote it in face of great adversity.

  • Oh my god. So am I the problem? I am spanish , and as spanish I usually go to see my team or at least see it on TV if they play away. But really, why are you telling this to me? I only said that there is too little crowd and crowd is really important. Watch the video, there is crowd? so what's the problem? I respect Germany for his work making greman's rugby popular. But I don't know why are you telling this to me :S

  • @druzik01

    well said druzik01

  • No its just Drunik and his RL faggy friends trying to pretend representing fake made up rl nations LOL.

in his parents backyard lol. Notice that all the players are all the same. His mum knits all the jerseys LMAO. HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Why all the hate towards RL? Does it make your ass bleed or something? Get over it, it's a sport and there are people out there who enjoy it. If that upsets you then you need professional help

  • Iv played Amarture games with a bigger crowd... But it is good to spread the game off Rugby League around the world.

  • Its not about the crowd but the game. These guys are amateurs as well.

  • love to see that rugby league is being spread around the world, are there ant talent scouts from the nrl is europe cause there are some guys there who can play a good game

  • ESL and the NL clubs do as do some of the french elite clubs. One of the german players is trialing with Halifax and two Serbioans this year had stints in the Elte competition in France. They also have played in the Russina Championships.

  • Goodluck to anyone who wants to play the great game.

  • good on them. good on all who are spreading the great game around the word GO THE CHOOKIES

    Sydney Roosters fan 4 life

  • serbia done a nice as play

and where was this game held?

  • The game was held in Heidelberg at the HSV Rugby Club, it was part of the annual European Shield Tri series.

Heidelberg and the areas around are the "rugby" capital of Germany and they have ventured and set up Rugby League in 2005. The first German domestic game will be in Cologne 31 May 2008 between Rohrbach Hornets (Heidelberg) and Rheinland (based in Huerth bear Cologne). Other clubs include Pforzheim, Karlruhe, Nurmberg, Munich, Bad Reichenhall and Frankfurt.

  • wot r all these union puffs on bwt, wot do they do?? kick and clap, be nice if u lads ran the ball in. league 4eva, no contest!

  • LOL... good you enjoy the game. Some new vids will be up over the next few months... Next week will have a challenge cup vid of Whitehaven and Lezignan up.

  • dam the serb half back is pretty bloody good...are there any nrl scouts in europe?

  • Well a few of the Serbians have played in the English National league comp, and two just signed for some french teams in the Elite. They ahve also had stints in the Russian Pro comp.

So the Europeans, anyway, know about the Serbians and Russians. The serbian squad is quite young, I think they average 22 years old, so I would expect a few of them to come through into the NL and ESL the next few years.

  • Two of the serbs have had contracts recently in the french league. Hopefully with Serbia comming onto the EU list of potential new countries and with working restrictions lifted it will mean more and more serbians will make their way into the European scene... as well I hope it will make thier comp semi pro and bring their local level up.

  • rugby union rules

  • loser... rugdy league FTW :)

  • League sucks,union owns!

  • If it was that great then the Union players would not be switching over to play Rugby league.

  • BRO FUK YOU RUGBY LEAGUE OWNS FAGET

  • faggot

  • Which One is Germany?

  • Germany is in the Black and Serbia in the blue.

  • Its great to see the game expand to Europe

  • Weiter weiter, zuruck, mach schnell! Great to see these traditional enemies sorting out their differences the old fashioned way. Some great hits too! Serbia seems to use the ball better but the Germans are very physical. League rules.

  • Serbia has been playing for 10 yeras now Germany only 2-3 so there will be a marked difference in skill level. BTW congrats to the Dorcol Spiders who won the Serbian Grand final against Pobara 16-10.

  • Well if any of these boys want to play league in Sydney Australia next year for the Forestville Ferrets in the Manly junior comp let me know.

  • Haha... I'll let them know, I'll see the german lads at the German SoO in Nuernberg in December.

  • Cool. I'm Samoan and love league. Would love for the sport to get big in Europe. I want to see other countries play instead of the same old. Would love to see a German or Serbian team dominate. Would be cool

  • Yes lots of RL is being played in Europe, I was in Bridgend for the Wales PNG game on the weekend which was great! Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Russia and Lebanon are all involved in world cup qualifiers as well as the USA and Samoa as I am sure you are aware of. Keep an eye out on forums from people who go to these games and their photos.

  • is simon cooper still involved with german rl?i played in the same team as coops when he was in uk, he's a good lad!

  • Yes he is , a good man he is.

  • Cheers, will do.

  • the onli wae rugby union is more complex is wen it comes 2 da breakdowns, the backline moves in league r wae better, e.g watch da nrl, its gud 2 c rugby league in these countrys, cos i cum frn nz wer we plae it alot but yer gud vid

  • Cheers, if ever in Europe do make sure you come and see games and support the guys.

The idea is not to get bigger and better than Union but to have an alternative, but I do prefer RL. But its no co-exists and not compete.

  • Also I have put up the Czech republic vs Germany game... just do a search for Czech rep V germany rugby league... same as here highlights and big hits, video quality better as I had a tripod and also some great try's!

  • OOOOOF, how goods this? i thought only England played league in Europe. I'd love to see league get bigger in Europe than that piss poor excuse for a sport Rugby Union

  • Go see the Czech Rep. v Germany YouTube... there are some good hits and tries in there as well. October - November sees some great games being played around Europe, there is a PNG tour through Wales and France, the all golda, and Russia, Lebanon, USA, Samoa, Ireland, Wales and Scotland involved in the last RLWC qualifiers.

  • It's absolutely brilliant to see the greatest game being played in Germany and Serbia. Hopefully the bug will catch on elsewhere on the continent as well. Keep up the good work and hope to see more clips of RL played in new places!

  • Serbia is a very active country in terms of internationals and has a domestic comp for about 6 years now. Germany has been active for a few years and are hoping for a domestic comp next year with 5-6 teams. Keep an eye out for future highlights packages of Germany v Czech and Germany v Austria (maybe)
